The issue, as always, is with enforcement. ICE is going to act like a law in NYC doesn't apply, and do as they wish. They already act like the Constitution doesn't apply to them, and our Supreme Court has given them the green light to do so. Is the NYPD going to enforce this? I sincerely hope so, but it's worth asking

Other commentator uses ableist slurs while also being in dire need of a nap but I do think that this bears repeating that if a good mayor is all it takes to control cops, we would see a LOT less police violence and corruption. Only time will tell if this really does end up getting enforced or not, but it's at least worth pointing out that Mamdani being their boss isn't alone a guarantee that it will be. ACAB and bastards see themselves as the center of the universe.

Pretty sure he can't do this because of the "Federal Supremacy Clause" in the Constitution. I mean, he can do it but he can't enforce it. And it's not like the NYPD is going to do anything to really stop ICE from doing stuff, unless ICE actually infringes on the power of the NYPD. That will start a turf war between the gangs, er, law enforcement professionals. Both ICE and NYPD are trained/backed by Israel, so it'll be an interesting fight for who can come out on top.

That's the overall PD yup, and that's who makes the decisions, so agreed. I WILL say that individual cops there vary widely and plenty don't want the shit that ex. ICE is dealing out. But I think, yeah, it comes down to territoriality between ICE and NYPD, ex. if even the fascist ruling cops get pissed off about ICE stepping on their toes/being on their turf, which has been the case in a lot of places

Actually I think the mental image of the ballroom being in use and full of billionaires even while unfinished and rain gets in, simply because they don't want to hurt trumps feelings, getting hit with a plane full of other billionaires is quite funny.
