Wide shallow bowls to avoid whisker stress when eating. He's adorable!

Get them someplace to be up high. Shelf, cat tree, we even put a cat bed on the top of our kitchen cabinets
jdregius92
Bought a tree for him, today and gonna keep an eye for a second had one i can repurpose to make so cool shelving for him to explore

Always have 1 litter box per cat +1, and scoop frequently. Separate their food and water, they don't like them too close. They also prefer running water, so think about getting a fountain. Make sure you have plenty of appropriate scratching surfaces for them. Play play play. And congratulations!!
jdregius92
I didn't know about the separate food and water that's good to know thanks :D

You're welcome!

Make sure to check a list of things toxic to cats to avoid, they are different from dogs for example. No feeding them bones ever (mine nearly died cause he dug one up from the trash and had a blockage). And remember, cats are not aloof and uncaring. If you give them love, they give it back

Excellent advice!

That's a really good idea I'll read up on it tomorrow

Get a second one so that he has some company when you aren't home.

My two would disagree with this and they’re brothers.

Seriously, two cats are so much more healthy than one.
jdregius92
It's on the cards, but financially I need to be a bit careful at the moment until i am sure i could look after 2 well enough

Understandable. But really get a second one as soon as possible. They get behavioral issues if kept alone from kitten stage on like aggression and biting.
jdregius92
I'll keep it in mind. I dunno if this sounds dumb but they neighborhood has a lot of cats so hopefully he can socialise a bit with them
MaryAlicexoxo
That's not dumb at all! If you let him go outside, he will learn some cat stuff for sure. My parents had a cat who made friends outside. His bestie even picked him up every morning at the back door and they went on adventures together :) Buuut - if you can manage, pls go outside with him, best on a leash. Kittens and young cats are not experienced with cars, my parents' cat got run over and left to die on the street, at only 1 year age. Better be safe than sorry. Got any other questions? :)

The only reason he will be allowed out is I'm lucky to live on a very quiet cul-de-sac so outside of morning commute and home time there are at most 5 cars in a day and all going very slow :) sadly I don't know what I don't know so I don't know what I haven't asked people yet
