Should have done more takes, the actor playing the 'thief' has terrible timing in this one.

Yeah not staged at all.

The moral of this story: one must steal the declaration of independence first so that it doesn't get stolen.

This!!

Y'all need to grow up, even if it's staged it is still a good lesson, keep your belongings secure and stay aware of your surroundings, particularly in public.

I thought he was running block for the other guy to get the phone, not save her purse. Extremely well done.

Those extras in the back not noticing a damn thing are not very believable.

That’s the only believable thing in this

That's some really bad acting

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 6

Legit? Would've been just as easy to stand up and block the "thief". Looks suspiciously like the choreographed king fu fights from 70s films

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah right lol that was staged my boi

One in a thousand? Maybe ten thousand? Given that there must be many hours of recordings of many bus stops over time, it is likely that a highly unlikely event will be recorded. Along with the records of many purses vanishing with a scooter pirate, of course.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

it took me like six times to see what was actually happenImg. The guy sitting behind her takes her purse because he sees someone else, coming from the front, wants to steal it.

On the internet??? Say it ain't so.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Do you think someone would do that? Just go on the internet and lie?

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

of course it's staged, it's public service message.

really lucky the camera was randomly placed there!

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Arbitrary dismissal doesn’t count as skepticism, FYI

1 year ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 3

It's a bus stop? How is that random?

There's plenty of staged stuff that's given away by obviously planted cameras. This isn't one of them. The camera, at least.

1 year ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

If it were handheld, it would at least rotate a little, but all it does is pan and zoom. My money is on AI or post-production subject tracking to make it fit.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

We had a person at work get absolutely plowed by a forklift because they weren't paying attention to where they were walking, fortunately it was best case scenario because the forklift was carrying a soft load of boxes that hit the worker at the shoulder first, launching them clear of the space it took the lift to stop. We know exactly what happened because there was a camera that overlooked the area the accident happened. Shit, it looked like it was a safety video directed by a professional.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sometimes a well placed camera will catch some cool shit.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hell, sometimes a terribly placed camera picks up some crazy shit too

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cameras are literally everywhere in China, you park in wrong location and in 10 minutes whoever is registered on the car will get a message "move your car in 10 minutes or you will be fined". This is normal for them.

1 year ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

Camera is moving. They did a bunch of shifts to try and hide it but look close.

In a developed country? Yes. Absolutely.

1 year ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Traffic cameras and security cameras do this very thing, using dedicated government/municipal networks. As far as storage is concerned, that's the least of your concerns. storage is cheap.

I'm not saying this particular video was staged or real, but...being logical for a sec, yes, it is entirely conceivable. In the UK alone, there are over 52,000 public CCTV cameras controlled by municipalities.
Staged? Maybe? Do high-res 24/7 gov't owned CCTV systems exist? Yes

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I mean, they only actively store so much outside of specific events being purposefully saved elsewhere.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

the camera is also slightly moving around, not a fixed installation.

1 year ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 16

The only movement is the zoom and some swaying.

1 year ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

also, a government agency that would not only go through the footage for a "non-crime" but also pass you a copy to post. At best you'd get a "well, since nothing was taken we are not making this a priority"

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I work in access control and video management. 50 cameras recording 24/7 at at 1080p for 30 days of retention only require 32TB of storage. That can be lowered dramatically with motion-based recording and other quality and bit rate factors.

For a large corporation or government entity, that’s pretty much the industry standard in the US and APAC. EMEA varies from country to country due to GDPR laws.

1 year ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

In the GDPR zone video like this can be stored up to a maximum of 7 days, longer if it's expected to be used as part of a criminal investigation.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It’s country to country, country laws supersede the greater GDPR retention policies, but most countries use the GDPR as their default. For example: Italy has a 1 day retention policy.

I’ve been working in Video Management for the last 13 years, on global implementation of these systems for my company, this is something I can actually say I am a subject matter expert on.

They also do not increase video retention for investigations, they generally capture the incident and hold the data.

Also why is it that y'all who don't believe anything ever happnes people only call these things staged when it's asian people in the gif/video? I never see anyone going "clearly fake and staged" when it's a bunch of white people. Everyone has the media literacy to realize "oh, what a funny littlw short form skit" if it's not made by asian folks

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ahh another moron 'detective'

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Because editing doesn't exist

1 year ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Damn. They said something so stupid they deleted their account? Or was it a contrarian bot?

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They saud ut can't be a buss stop camera because it zooms in amd out at the perfect time

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So there's this basic feature in basically every image software program ever called "crop and zoom." Whoever reviewed the footage had to have done so in such a program. And this may come as a shock to you, but zooming in on stolen or almost stolen items in security footage is a very common thing to do to see what they/their value are to figure out which theft charge it is. But sure, bc there happens to be a single zoom, that obviously means it's the meticuloud planning of Kubrik or Scorsese

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The fact it's moving and clearly being held by someone kinda blows that up.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 19

So confidently wrong

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The big initial zoom could be post but cameras can be set to more tightly frame people in the field of view, which ends up looking like small shifts in frame and zoom as it averages info over time.

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

No the small vibrations. Not the stupid editing zoom.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

Digital distortion wouldn't parallax. That's hand shake. Down votes be damned; they're correct.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How fortunate that a panning camera was there, and they got access to its recordings.

1 year ago | Likes 96 Dislikes 30

You’re not wrong, and this is obviously staged, but ‘they’ didn’t need access to the recording if it were genuine, just some security guy seeing it and sharing it

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

post-processing pan and zoom is a thing

1 year ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 0

That's not panning. Jfc people. Words mean shit: use the right ones, especially if you're gonna be a cynical cuck. BTW, CCTV footage can be digitally zoomed... exactly like this. Stop trying so hard to be an edge lord cynic.

1 year ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 3

Don't be an asshole. Muted.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 16

You’re totally right btw, that response was unhinged

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Good thing points are useless lol

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

We also have what are called "PTZ" cameras. Pan-Tilt-Zoom

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Misnomer when identifying something: acceptable and a great time to use it as a teaching moment. Misnomer when making a choice that affects no one: your mistake. Misnomer when making an opinion or action that affects other people: an offense/misdeed and the person who did it is in the wrong. But to be fair, maybe a little less extreme language while admonishing this would make you look like less of an asshole. (who actually calls people cuck other than edge lord cynics? Hypocrite moment)

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

“Oh no, you didn’t just use the wrong technical term, or made the wrong assumptions about how a video was produced! You must be called names and berated!”

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

It's edited sure. Normal cctv camera can zoom in

1 year ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Usually the feed from bus stop CCTV is not publicly available.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

Usually people arent being robbed, that doesn't mean it doesn't ever happen and that it's staged when it does

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Sure, but the massive flood of staged content pretending to be real has made me a skeptic. I don't feel bad about that.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Massive flood? How long have you been on the internet?

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I work in video surveillance. We have what are called PTZ cameras. While they don't make up our entire catalog, it would be far from accurate to say we can't zoom in.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The camera is fucking waving slightly the entire time just as if it's being held by a hand. Ignore the zooming. Watch the corners at the beginning. That's no CCTV.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

That's my theory as well.
Guess people don't care, too obsessed with convincing themselves that it is real :-/

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yep. Like maybe it is. But the odds are overwhelming it's not given what we see and the general trend of these videos being pumped out by Chinese content farms.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Huh, almost to the point of disbelief.

1 year ago | Likes 616 Dislikes 13

Almost!

1 year ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 1

This shit happens so often in some areas it can be really easy to see coming if you aren't staring at your phone. Some countries have cameras everywhere, especially around public transit. so this really doesn't stretch my disbelief much at all considering what I have seen in person

1 year ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

Handheld security camera at a bus station you say?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

If they were not Asian, yeah

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

I know right, we all know bus stops ARE FAMOUS for having high quality security cameras AT EVERY STOP.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Staged, you say? On the internet you say? Surely not.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Zero doubt

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

The Point of Disbelief is a three day ride back thataway. This here is the Point of No Fucking Way

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

But if it's on imgur it must be true. Remember last month imgur was in a panic about zillions of Americans being deported. That's faded now after people started asking, "Really, who, which Americans exactly?" Closest thing was some undocumented parents taking their US-born minor children with them. Sad but not deportation.

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 71

Hahahah, you've been sitting on that comment and chose to use it here? Both ridiculous and irrelevant

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Americans are scared lil babies. They're fooled/scared by anything and fly off into a tizz for usually no reason, almost every month it's something new. Funny tho.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

So you're under the impression that if you're in a country illegally you get to stay if you're not in a gang? Sorry, doesn't work like that. It's never worked like that, under either political party.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 11

Sorry but law seems very flexible in the US, like how the undocumented are worse criminals than pediphiles or people who steal classified documents so call me back when the ‘law’ treats everyone the same

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Trump is terrible, a paedophile and more.

That doesn't mean if you're in the country illegally that you get to stay.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 6

1 year ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 3

Meh, just saying imgur ain't near as great at checking facts as they are about being outraged for a day or two before moving on to the next thing to be outraged about. But prove me wrong. Name an adult American deported in 2025. Last month imgur said there were zillions being shipped off every day.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 25

If you lived in the Germany in 1937 you would have been going around claiming that people being were overreacting about the Nazis.

1 year ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Meh. Sticking to the truth is a pretty good idea.

Last month imgur "over-reacted" by saying there were zillions of Americans being deported every day. OK, prove it.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 12

So snatching foreigners off the streets and sending them to torture camps is fine as long as they aren't American? I'm not even American, but even from the other side of the Atlantic it's pretty clear that the only reason your tinpot dictator hasn't deported Americans yet is because they need to get around the current legal framework that forbids it. Trump has quite openly talked about sending American "criminals" to other countries and as soon as he thinks he can get away with it he will.

1 year ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

When did I say it was fine.

I said last month imgur was convinced Americans were being deported by the trainload. And then when asked for details the best they could do was what you're doing now: To change the topic to something, anything, else.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 6

If we are not providing due process, how would we know?

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The gtfo imgur. You dont sound like u like it here and wont miss us. We wont even notice you’re gone pal

1 year ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 3

Meh. I notice you didn't say that I was wrong about either imgur's need to be outraged or that they're not great at checking facts, as in this example about supposed Americans being deported by the zillion.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 13

Are you actually 12?

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Nope. Now, feel free to prove me wrong about imgur's need to be outraged regardless of facts. In just one example of this, hit me with all those zillions of adult Americans imgur was convinced last month were being deported.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

No i didnt bother to fight you on something that seems ephemeral and subjective based on what/how we scroll and set our preferences to. If you want to complain and “make things right” make a post or back it up with facts rather than a paltry weak attempt of hyperbolic or sarcastic opinions in a similar vein kinda like how you did by describing their claims as being “zillions”. Aint nobody got time for that including yourself whereby you succinctly displayed your hypocrisy.

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Lotta words to say you can't find any source for those zillions of deported Americans. And that's just one example of imgur's need to be outraged regardless of facts.
