Here is a link of me turning a table into a d&d dungeon: https://imgur.com/gallery/FsJ7OM1

Ey FP people! send something d&d related.

I play as a flying shovel. My DM has a rule set strictly for me...

#29 The best Merlin.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Man, the natural 20 does not defeat every monster it comes across, you'd need probably a dozen 20s to get an ancient red dragon even half hp

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 5

Why show what they've missed when you can recycle the missed material the next game?

7 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

because that +5 Holy Avenger definitely won't be in the next game, and you love to watch the Paladin cry.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah euron definitely rolled a 20 on that shot....

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why are the DnD things never tagged

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Common! I tagged like two of them

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

#1 The dragon, duh, legendary actions motherfuckers.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

#2 Braun Strowman singing "You're Gonna Get These Hands" to Elias is textbook D&D Multiclass Bard fuckery https://youtu.be/wykHXo399HU

#29 - My wizard and an enemy wizard teleported next to each other to avoid an area hazard, then had a dagger slap fight.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Omelette du fromage...

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

when you multi class Druid and Bard

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

WTF kind of ability one-shots an ancient dragon on a crit?

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Vorpal. Though in fairness it's pretty high level and uncommon

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've seen a Halfling with a viorpal short sword one shot a great wyrm.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Hobbits really are amazing creatures, as I have said before. You can learn all that there is to know about their ways in a month, 1/2

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

and yet after a hundred years they can still surprise you at a pinch.” 2/2

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No kidding. DM described the magic sword literally dragging our poor little rogue through the neck that was several times her size.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mathew mercer is also great in dimension 20 bloodkeep

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

#1 If the DM doesn't treat a 20 as some sort of reality-warping deus ex machina bullshit just because "LOL nat 20!", the dragon.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

7 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

I once saved my entire party from cannibals by telling a joke that made the DM snort soda out of his nose.

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I cast Summon Bigger Fish!

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

#1 probably the dragon if the DM isn't fucking around

7 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 1

I know right. "Oh wow, if you were strong enough to hit like that normally, you might've actually stood a chance."

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Having played high level D&D... yes. Yeah, sure, do that a few more times and maybe you'll get the dragon to half before party wipe.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

depends on the edition, and the characters' build and level. 3.5e had some RIDICULOUSLY overpowered builds where a crit just makes it faster

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

but the outcome was always almost inevitably in the players' favor, unless the players simply couldn't reach the enemy and it could hit them

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It would take more than a single crit to kill off an ancient dragon.

7 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

That depends how vorpal your sword is.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Vorpalness is a pass or fail value

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

yes, but if it IS vorpal, that nat20 certainly makes things a lot more favorable to the players.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Depends a bit on the edition too. Triple crits are rare, but absolutely devastating in 3.PF.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

in most games that have a rule for triple-crit (3 nat20's in a row), it's just "tell me how you kill it."

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

but that's REALLY rare... most games don't even have rules for a double-crit. you roll nat20, it's a crit, move on to damage.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

or in short; games that USE triple-crits are at least as rare as triple-crits themselves.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ford memes in a D&D dump? Never thought I'd see the day.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My and my friends have an unspoken rule that the DM must show us his dice rolls.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That sounds like a concept that would kill most players before they reach lv 4.

7 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Although I see ur point it also goes to show how hard it is to balance the game as the dm

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Whenever players come up with a shit ass plan

7 years ago | Likes 278 Dislikes 1

Matthew mercer also great on dimension 20

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Just ask him what time it is when it's exactly midday and the sun is directly overhead...

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I saw a story where a guy had a dwarf in full armor fall off a cliff and said he’d flap his arms. Two crits in a row later and he was flying

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ah yes the Five Mystical Words of Fate.

7 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

My personal favourite Words are "are you sure about that?"

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Nah, nah. Gotta go with "how do you wanna do this?!"

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

i mean, i nearly summoned a dragon that was essentially a dictator in my last game. my DM was about to explode from excitement, and then 1/

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

the wizard rolled a 20 on a history check, and told me it was a dictator. i decided against summoning it, and you could see the life 2/

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

drain from the DM’s face. if course, we still have one more dragon to summon, so he may still have his fun. 3/3

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Can't wait to start a pokemon D&D campaign soon. Playing a lawful evil 14 y/o with big plans on a large scale terrorist attack on the League

Have you ever tried the Pokéthulhu ruleset? https://mozai.com/writing/not_mine/Pokethulhu.pdf

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No, we're using the pokemon 5e homebrew created by @JOEtheDM on reddit. The subreddit is r/pokémon5e for anyone curious

Most likely going to use it to divert attention and law enforcement away from other targets and commit a heist amongst the chaos

My DM tried to fuck with us and gave us a deck of many things. I pulled the Sun Card. All of his preplanned encounters are broken now.

7 years ago | Likes 84 Dislikes 1

Your DM gave a legendary magic item (expected for PG lvl 17+) to a lvl 3 group. The game was already broken.

7 years ago | Likes 82 Dislikes 0

Playing a broken game can still be fun, and besides, as the DM if your players aren't being challenged you can always add more enemies.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes, it can be absolutely the case. What I am saying is that any leg. item to a lvl3 party would break the game. Can be fun, as a lvl10 1/

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

sorcerer in group with lvl3 characters, but it is very different. Adding enemies does not help: you will still have one PC being a 2/

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

superhero and the others being useless. It is a feasible play style with an experienced group, but not an easy one. But the point is 3/

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was weird though because in previous campaigns I had a Homebrew item that was called the Deck of very Strange things. (1/2)

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

It was mostly illusions and other small effects that wore off in like a day. So I just instantly pulled a card thinking it was that. (2/2)

7 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

just thank yer lucky stars you didn't draw the 'void' card

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

That's why it's a lvl 17+ item. At 17 'void' or 'skull' is a plot hook, at lvl 3 you just re-roll the character.

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

And then a portal opens in front of the group. A being emerges from it, he resembles your old friend but is now twisted from unknown horrors

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

(For those who don't know, The Sun card gives your Character 50,000 xp. I was a level 3 Sorcerer. I'm not anymore)

7 years ago | Likes 68 Dislikes 1

That's... that's a lot of XP...

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Holy shit

7 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

How many levels that gets you?

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He would've gone from level 3 to level 9

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Should make you roughly level 9 depending on how fast their level progression is.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

But don’t you just level up once? Aren’t all extra XP wasted? Like you would get the XP to get to 4 but it wouldn’t keep carrying over

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

XP Just keeps adding, you don't reset to 0 xp after you level up.

7 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Depends on the Home Rules used by the DM, sometimes they let XP carry over to the next level.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

it would be a very special and cruel DM who tossed out extra XP. hell, in 1E, you earned 1:1 xp for gp. this is why bringing ALL the loot...

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

home has been such a trope for D&D adventurers. 1000gp? heck, that's another 5% of my next level. get it in the wagon somehow!

7 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

dude. i feel like you've been playing with some really unoptimized characters if you think D&D dragons are that tough...

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i mean, they're not WEAK... but at the level you SHOULD be fighting them, your party SHOULD be able to handle it, unless you've all been...

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

making some anti-optimized character growth decisions for the past 18 levels, AND your DM has been stingy with wealth-by-level guidelines.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ancient Red has 527hp (avg)... but it's CR23. that means it's "on par" for a party of about 4 players, average level 23. so at 18~20, it's..

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

a pretty difficult encounter. if you meet one before your party is about level 15... there's only a few options.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

1: your DM is tired of your shit; roll over and die already. (rocks fall, everyone dies... except with fire and claws.)

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2: it's a scripted encounter; run away, and/or get captured, as the plot dictates.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

3: y'all are playing 3.5e, have spent way too much time optimizing, and are severely OP. tonight's menu: Dragon Steak Stew.
