Des Moines! I can see my old barber shop.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

sigh... *unzips*

9 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 4

It's rare to see originals. Most are replicas.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Figured. No sane person drives it out like that and leaves it parked.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That takes me back to the days of cheating in Age of Empire...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was named after this car! I could only afford a mustang though :c

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That’s the real deal jeez I can’t believe that’s out

9 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 3

I couldn't believe it either. Owner was friendly and proud of it. Good for him! I was amazed at how small it is in real life!

9 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

All those British sports car designs from the 50s and 60s are tiny by today's standards

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Rare to see one but too meet an owner that’s not a total grump ... put some numbers on the lottery bro lol ha never know !

The best rear view I’ve seen in awhile

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If it's perfect and clean, it's a replica, or one of the Shelby new builds on the old title chassis. The originals have wear on them.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

12 people missed the upvote button.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

a good rule of thumb: if you see it on the street, 99% chance its replica. that being said, i'm not sure on this one could go either way

9 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 2

Could also be resto-modded? I see some things here and there that don't look perfectly original.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We had a guy around here that had/has a real one that would take it for a spin. She was mean and quick. Wouldn't put it in shows because 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There would be too many people near it. But a spin around the county he was about.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

my biggest pet peeve is car collectors who just buy them to let them sit in a garage. enjoy them!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

overall impression of someone who's built a few kits, looks legit. but has a few non-original touches.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

The fella who owned it said it was legit. I didn't quiz him on it though. He was very proud of it. As well he should be. It was beautiful!

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

not the first time ive been fooled :)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not the same car.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm guessing you're referring to the glovebox missing; the originals, as pointed out by others, didn't have glove boxes.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

So the one in the post is almost certainly a replica, otherwise someone made a huge mistake.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Kit car

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Replica or real, it's awesome either way

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What a beautiful death trap

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's my car!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Back when he was alive, Shelby would sign any glovebox if you mailed it to them along with a donation to his charity. Superformance replica?

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

I asked the fella if it was legit. He smiled and nodded and said yup! I didn't quiz him.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

What city is this?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hopefully no torrential rain that day

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Shelby would sign glove boxes for a fee that went to his Heart Fund. His signature isn't a sign it's authentic.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fellow Iowan!!

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Fellow Dutchman!!!!!!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Guys. These replicas are very common. They can look clean and nice, but they're all replicas.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

Real car guys/gals actually drive their cars.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I was thinking replica until I saw the signature. Was there no one watching over it this $1M+ car?

9 years ago | Likes 276 Dislikes 6

For a while, you could mail your glove box door to Shelby and he would sign it for a fee that he donated to charity.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Same here. But damn that is SWEET car!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He only died not long ago and they still make and sell them. So it could be an original or it could be a late model one still from Shelby.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 6

Who the fuck drives an original and parks it out in the open like that? I'd have a hired guard when I Park it.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fake signature

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 10

idk, seems legit to me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihe5v8iXSdw

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The guy who owned it said it was legit. He was beaming with pride. If it was a replica he doesn't know it

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Possibly, but you'd have to be quite the douchebag to do that. And people would call you on it.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

There was a very very happy gentleman who was there. Asked him if it was his and legit he smiled, yup. If replica then fooled me and him.

9 years ago | Likes 169 Dislikes 3

I have a feeling that people who own replicas will say they're legit because they are tired of people asking if they are originals or not

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Certainly not the case here in the UK. My dad had a Dax kit some years ago and it was lovely, but you'd never try and pass it off as an AC

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

One of the most beautiful cars of all time. Thanks for sharing!

9 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

I don't think that a real SC is going to fetch over $1M. I do love em tho. Maybe $500k. Check Hemmings, you'll see.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

It depends on their pedigree. Cars that are documented race winners go for way more than standard. Aside from that, you're right.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They've fetched up to $6mil so it's not out of the question

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Honestly, if I wasn't allowed to sell it, I think I would rather have a high end replica. I'd be afraid to drive the real thing.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Replica. But at 66k that was a bargain.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

It's kinda close.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I guess you're correct.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Has to be a replica, who leaves a car that valuable just sitting out like that.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He was standing there talkn with another admirer. You can see his wife in one of the photos. He said it was legit.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Thats different from the one in the post.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't see any proof from you, yet regardless, as others have pointed out, originals didn't have glove boxes either.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

( I'm guessing you're referring to the glove box -- which the BJ replica doesn't have, which is actually accurate unlike the one pictured )

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It's a replica. A guy with a million dollar car probably doesn't hold his garage remote control together with duct tape.

9 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 5

He probably spent all his money on the car and had to resort to duck tape

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But he's in the $5.00 parking. He has to have a lot of money.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Never underestimate the thirfty nature of the rich. Most dont get rich and throw money around

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I present exhibit A: The fucking car.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

5$ parking... wtf

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Yeah everyone looking at the car and I'm like "$5? EVENT??"

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can't tell if you think this is a lot or a little

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I know!!! For downtown farmers market... plenty of street room thankfully

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Des Moines? Looks like des moines. Great farmers market.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nailed it!
