Mine does too. Not through a wall, mind you. Washer sits right next to tha tub. I do got a drain in the wall but I had the choice and the tubs drain is way more trustworthy.
Actually this is not super uncommon in old houses, we had the same in our flat. It wasn't a big issue as the amount of time were someone us actually in the tub is negligable.
I also saw this in Europe all the time. The fact that there's a pipe through the wall instead of a hose around the corner (which would actually be a landlord special) is actually well done.
Pipe through the wall, seemingly well sealed, efficient… honestly kind of a smart setup that will reduce mold growth and the chance of water backing up and flooding your laundry room.
That's likely cause the drain is mostly blocked somewhere further and when the washing machine unloads water too fast to drain it comes back up the shower drain, the only other exit. Odds are just putting a dollarstore plumbing snake down the drain would have solved it.
Baths are fine if you've got the hot water for both. Its not like you need pressure when the washer is filling snd most of the time the washer is not filling. I can have a bath during my first load of washing, but not my second

The alternative is to tear apart the walls and floors until you find the existing drainage pipe, build a new pipe that connects, rebuild the walls and floors. This is definitely cheaper.
There are certain model washers in US/Canada which may have a "Suds Savers" feature. It will suck the drained water from a sink back into the washer to reuse it.
But how can we waste valuable resources if our water automatically recycles itself?! Everyone knows the American way is to waste as much as humanly possible 😂 I bet you guys also recycle too, huh? Preposterous.
That's not how the Japanese bathe, The bathroom or Ofuroba is separated into a washing area and a soaking tub area, even the tiniest bathrooms are split in these two area's. The tub is called Furo. Cleaning yourself is outside the Furo and after cleaning you soak for some time in the tub.

Yes not everyone is in the position you are go only do things they want to, they do it for necessity. And the point remains that with soap it makes 0 actual difference unless ur pissing in the shower
What's if you like bathing with scented oils or bath salts? The oils could damage clothing and the bath salts affect pH, which would impact the efficacy of the detergent.
Its more like a hottub/spa just for soaking. You fill it periodically because modern tubs are well insulated and even self heating, meaning you only drain it for cleaning and replacing the water. I'd use one almost daily if I had one tbh. But yea if its not your cup of tea, you just fill it as needed and shower normally.

I do. I use a thermostat faucet. Water’s always 38C. The flow might hickup, but that’s it. No biggie.

In Japan you take a shower before bathing. First you get clean, then you take your bath. So the bathing water is clean enough for the washing machine.
