These Floor is Lava games are getting out of hand.
pacal1171
Everything about that working environment looks very dangerous, no thanks
Stampedeo
Revenge of the companion cube
Denamic
Steam explosion. Can have considerable force.
TheGaryBuseyOf4nal
The floor ACTUALLY is lava
Hibbtygibitty
Well that escalated quickly.
heathstone
Good head on that guy. I would have tried to run and instantly been melty feet man from that point on.
Inthabushez
Most likely some water trapped in that charge he was loading into the furnace. It doesn't take much to cause an eruption like that.
kibu
Yeah, there's video on youtube of a ladle of molten iron where someone throws a water bottle in it and it basically does this.
justhammyk
Goddamn back up Terry!
Haha! I love that video!

Former forklift driver. These things have pretty hardy front windshields, I would hope that caught most of it. The side splashes though..

I'm more surprised that the blast shield on that forklift did its job that well, saved his life
FromTheBeyond
Scary. How did the driver not die? Wow

if there is even a small amount of rain/moisture and you dip it into molten steel it will explode. safety first !

Aren't forklifts like that normally powered with propane?
JARKB
Hanks wet dream.
Snaggley
I'm not an expert but that looks like battery powered.
Saxxon92
It's probably electric
You can tell when a forklift is propane, because it will have a large drum like tank that sits on top of the counterweight.
asalleer
from the vent grill on the back and no cylinder, those are either gas or diesel. not electric either.
napzack
No, they use hamster wheels.
LegendaryBill
Those look to be battery powered. No propane tank on the back.
wallaCakeStar
BantersaurousRex
If I was buying forklifts for a foundry I'd probably not get the ones with a bomb strapped to the back. No cylinders on these = electric.
wheresmybanana
And propane accessories
Vyrro
We'd be friends irl
AnarchistPipeMaker
Depends. These two are electric, though.
javadad60
Appears to be good reason.
stja
I don't remember the last time I saw a forklift that was not electric.
nch77
Big ones are still propane or diesel
ICheckUsernameAndSuch
I saw 3 yesterday cause there are multiple where I work. Just depends on job and jobsite. Seems like electric is more common nowadays though
LyraTheLycan
It makes sense if bigger ones are still gas, because electricity can do only so much.
My work only has propane hyundais and nissans. Hyundais are definitely better
Use to work with a 6.5ton Hyster, it was a diesel. We got a spare once that was propane, and the diesel was definitely more powerful.
WallowsInMud
Our diesel MasterCraft (nicknamed wheezer) can carry a 4ton skid steer into our shop!
I had to do this once when a smaller forklift broke down. Was right on the limit of what my 6.5ton could lift. Had to take it real slow.
Jlummux
Did that forklift driver just carry on working after being covered in molten whatever?
NomadUniverse
He has a roof cover and probably a front window if some sort too seeing how it deflected. LPG/fuel tank saved by getting away
Orkekum
looks like a diesel forklift, we got those at the foundry, feels safer than gas :-)
WoefulWombat
No, he started reversing to get away from the molten whatever, because running isn't an option when the floor is fucking lava
Blokewithabrew
Lava is bad enough, but imagine being fucked by it! Grim.
Probably aluminum. Most likely, the bale had been outside and had gotten water trapped in it.
aBJisStillaJobDuh
My whole life I've trained for this exact situation.
