Kyoukai no Kanata (12 Episodes)

I'm quite bad at descriptions when written, because most of them involve a lot of hand gestures and excited jumping up and down. Well, Kyoukai no Kanata (Beyond the Border) is set in a world where youmu, which are beings such as demons or spirits, plague those who can see them. There are the Spirit World Warriors who get rid of them and in this story we follow Mirai Kuriyama who is a SWW and other high schoolers such as Akihito Kanbara. I like the concept of the anime but the execution isn't as good as it could have been, but that might have been due to the small amount of episodes. Still, I'd recommend because I love the animation and characters.

Psycho Pass (22 Episodes)

This is one of my favourite anime out there, set in our futuristic world, perhaps one or two hundred years later. Everything in Japan is governed by the SYbIL system that can alert the police when people are having thoughts about committing crimes or if their mental state is unbalanced. You follow the new Inspector, Akane Tsunemori, and her struggles with the system. I love how the anime handles certain themes and the music is kind of cool as well, but my greatest love from this anime is the Dominator, a gun. Hard to describe without making this lengthy, so I'd just watch the first episode in which it's described. For those who have already seen it, season two has been announced!

Durarara!! (24 Episodes)

The myth of the headless rider is pretty famous and now the headless rider is in Japan, in the form of a headless motorcyclist, although the helm hides the headless part. The main characters, however, are highschoolers who have to deal with gangs and get intertwined with sub plots that eventually all come together at some point. It's not the best, but I did like watching it a lot.

Hyouka (22 Episodes)

The animation in this one really makes me warm and fuzzy inside along with the main character, Oreki Houtarou, who is lazy and doesn't do anything more than he has to. Reminds you of someone, doesn't it? (hint: you) Anyway, if you're looking for something with a strong plot, Hyouka isn't really for you, and I'd recommend going for something else. But the plot is that Oreki Houtaro joins the Literary Club at his sister's request and then he begins to investigate something that happened 45 years ago with his friends. Think Sherlock Holmes, but Japanese and animated.

Kuroko no Basket (Airing/51 Episodes)

I've watched all episodes in one week (there are currently 46 or something) and I really like it. It's about basketball and set in the year when the Generation of Miracles, a team of prodigies from Teiko Middle school, have all gone to separate high schools and all have special hair colours. Seriously, they all have their own hair colour. (This is all in the first forty seconds so watch that if you want it said in Japanese) But other than the famous five first string players from Teiko, there was a sixth person who was part of their team but who was never acknowledged. Guess who this anime is about? Without spoiling much more, I can say that the character development is quite nice, and the basketball also cool to watch (although who the hell manages to say three sentences during a dunk) although the plot can be predictable at times. The shading did put me off at the start, but I got used to it. Also, at the start of season two, they speak English and watching the whole first season was worth those few seconds because I was laughing so much I was useless for five minutes. Not that I'm very useful otherwise. Also, because a lot of things still have to happen and season two is almost finished, I'm guessing a season three will be underway.

Ouran High School Host Club (26 Episodes)

This is the most light-hearted anime in here. It's about the Host Club consisting of seven members that, well, host tea parties and allow girls to reserve time slots to spend time with them. The story follows Haruhi Fujioka who manages to become part of the host club and their adventures together. It's not action, thriller, or anything. It's just a lot of pink and funny scenes that are ridiculous. Still, it's really fun to watch on a sick day or something.

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (56 Episodes)

One of the best shows I have come across, and coincidentally, the second anime I watched, Fullmetal Alchemist being the first. I thought this was a sequel, but it was the remake that followed the manga instead of deviating like FMA because the manga hadn't been completed yet. It's set in the country Amestris, where Alchemy is possible and you follow the two brother, Edward and Alfonse Elric. Many subplots intertwine with theirs, and in the end they all play a valuable role. The character growth is amazing and subtle at times (I can post something on this if people'd like) and the plot brilliant. Not to mention I also love the intros.

Free! (12 Episodes)

It's about five swimmers that are shipped together like crazy by the fangirls. Given the way they're portrayed, it's hard not to, though. One of them is basically in love with water. It follows the Iwatobi Swim Club as they try to win and deal with a figure from the past. It's cool to watch though, and because it's only twelve episodes, it won't eat your time. Same with Free!, the plot isn't extremely strong and it focuses a lot on the friendships and the drawing of muscles. Yep.

Noragami (Airing/12 Episodes)

Currently on Episode 9, Noragami is from the makers of Fullmetal Alchemist, and I really enjoy watching it. It's about Yato, a War God without a shrine of followers and is nicknamed the Stray God (Noragami in Japanese) because of that. Still, he plans to become the important god he thinks he deserves to be. Well, it's also very short, but I like the concept a lot and I hope the ending will do it justice. I certainly like the intro and animation.

Ao No Exorcist (25 Episodes)

Set in our world, but there are demons that normal people can't see and there are people who get rid of them. Exorcists. We follow Rin Okumura and I'd like to say more, but that would be hard without spoiling too much. In the first Episode a lot happens and I'd recommend watching that to see whether or not you like it.

Thanks for reading, guys! I hope I didn't name too many animes that have already passed through, because I'm not a super frequent visitor I can't be too sure which have already been discussed. If the writing is off or you see typos, it's because I had written every single description when the page decided to give me 'no data received' when I tried to save. That sucked. So I'm typing this out for the second time.

-1 for anime

If you don't like it, just let it be. No need to say it. It's like punching someone because they like Harry Potter. Just nod and move on.

Just exercising my freedom of speech that I've served to defend. Plus the dozens of neg comments on my pics makes a guy bitter at times

Are these on crunchyroll or is there another legit source we can use to stream?

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You can go to pinoy, animedreaming or animefave. They're in my order of preference.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pinoy is pinoyanime, to be precise.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

full metal alchemist should be turned into full metal alchemist brotherhood as it tells ther entire manga story.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Ah, wait, I meant Brotherhood. Not sure where that went wrong.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

well glad I pointed that out early out 8D

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In the description I am describing Brotherhood, however, haha, but thanks!

Only seen 4 of these and rank their worth like this FMA, Psycho-Pass, Durarara and Ao No exorcist.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Nice! Although these are not ranked in preference, just the order in which I uploaded them! I could give my preferred order if you want?

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hehe. You don't need to. Just vouching for some of your recommendations. :)

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ah, thanks! Do you have any other recommendations for things I should watch?

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

One of my all time favorites and most under rated series is Ergo Proxy. What kind of series do you prefer?

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Almost all kind, actually, although I prefer things such as Psycho Pass and FMAB. Kuroko no Basket is also fun to watch.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fun fact about Free: the animators deliberately make fun of the fanservice in many other anime by gearing it towards women instead of men.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh wow! I didn't know that! Hahahaha, thanks for telling me. Who's your favourite character?

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't have one; I only watched a few episodes, but my roommate was really into it when it was airing.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ah, okay! Do you watch other animes/series though?

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not recently; haven't had the time. But there are a few on your list here that look pretty good so I might look them up if I get the chance.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks! If you do, and you remember, tell me what you thought! I like hearing what other people think :)

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just started Psycho-Pass, I think I'll love it. Thanks for the suggestions, OP.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Glad I could spread the series! Send me message when you're done or when you want to discuss something! :)

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sure thing. Also, the first episode just lay down a personal dilemma on you, it's great.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes! I really like how it starts a lot. Hope you enjoy the rest.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think Magi is an amazing Anime. Full of laughs, and magic and all that jazz about friendship the Japanese love to include.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I've seen a lot about it, but wasn't sure if I should start. I'll write it down, however!

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Be prepared for shonen fight scenes though.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'll keep it mind hahahaha

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not that it's a bad thing! But some people can't stand em so I like to warn :)

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I just started Hajime no Ippo

Is it any good?

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Its a hell of a lot better than the rest of the ones in the list, a part from FMA:B

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Well, thanks for your detailed input.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, it's been pretty entertaining

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'll write it down! Is it already completed or still airing?

Oh, thanks! I'll definitely check it out :)

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0
