Texas ranks number 1 in a CEO poll of best places to do business. The GOP state government has made Texas a great place to do business but a real shitty place to live.

As an occasional visitor to Tennessee, that makes a lot of sense. It would be bad there even without the far-right media complex trying to turn Nashville into their new central hub of fuckery.

I live in NJ. Whenever I admit that people say how sorry they are for me. And in my area we have a lot of brain dead racist fascists.

Florida didn't make the top 10? DeSantis must be shaking in his high heeled boots.

gee, wonder what these states have in common

Lack of education. They are functional retardation. And they ate also the ones who want to knuckle drive us as a society backwards. If you want to go backwards... gtfo. Or kys. Just LEAVE. I WANT TO PROGRESS FOWARD

LOL Not Florida?

As a Tennessean, yeah, its shitty and getting worse. Its just too damn red for my liking. Ignorant rednecks that when asked questions the answer starts "well my daddy said" no critical thinking or comprehension.

Having a hard time believing Ohio isn’t in the top ten but I’m biased because I live in Ohio.

I am here to confirm Texas is a hellhole. It has been since Republicans took control. Fuck every last one of them!

1 month ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Tennessee is definitely the worst place I ever lived.

These are all the states that give businesses huge tax rights offs and most of them are leach states, that take more Federal Tax dollars than they pay back.

God dammit, Indiana. You're holding strong at #3, but that's why I never visit anymore. Backwards dipshits and corn cousins, legions of shit-kickers and bible-bangers. I do not miss you.

And those states control our electoriat because those states get more voting power than the rest.

Arkansas wouldnt be so bad, if we could get rid of the state government.

SHS is a disgrace. The fact that the lectern thing didn't have her removed is crazy. But now she's all over social media trying to show improvements in the state and education. When were still VERY clearly not high on the list.
And don't get me started on giving funding to charter schools. That whole family are scum.

Stuck living in IN atm. Can confirm.

You’ve got ten states worse to live in than Mississippi. That’s a big fucking problem.

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Can confirm

Hey now. Tennessee may be bad but at least we're part of the national power grid. Texas not being part of the grid should knock it up to rank 1.

And the best states to live in, according to the same site: https://www.cnbc.com/2026/07/11/best-states-to-live-in-america-2026.html

Howdy from Knoxville TN.

Can confirm.

I'm surprised that Idaho isn't on the list.

1 month ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Same, figured probably not the worst but at least in the top 10.

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah Missouri is pretty bad.

1 month ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

welcome to missouri - gateway to hell..I mean the west...no wait, hell is more accurate

The only redeemable thing about Missouri is KC BBQ.

Doesn’t Florida deserve a spot here?

I already knew Oklahoma would be on the list. It's a Wannabe Texas, and consistently at or near the very bottom of the list in education.

1 month ago | Likes 87 Dislikes 1

I’m genuinely shocked we’re only #9.

Oklahoma is jealous of all the attention Mississippi gets

Driving through Texas made me feel mildly uncomfortable. Driving through Oklahoma made me feel wildly uncomfortable.

At least in Texas you know that you can eventually reach a relatively blue city like Dallas, Houston, Austin, etc. No such luck in Oklahoma

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

...Dallas and Houston? Blue? As far as I've ever been able to suss out in my 30 years visiting Texas, the only two places that are actual sanctuaries for sane, non-racist people are Austin and San Antonio. Dallas pretends but is shit, and Houston should be an irradiated crater in the earth.

I'll be honest, I chose cities by looking at a 2024 election map and choosing the ones surrounded by blue and picked a few of those cities at random lol.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Haha, fair enough. And it's not like Austin and SA are perfect. I had a lady make a literal finger cross and hiss at me, in public, because she found out I was from Oregon in San Antonio.

I'd rather drive through Oklahoma, because I actually can. Can't drive through Texas without getting stopped every 30 miles for the crime of out of state plates.

Driving through arizona as a white male with an Asian wife that could pass for Hispanic if you’re wildly racist was terrifying. Random checkpoints on the highway with guns aimed at you speaking to us in Spanish (which we both speak but that’s beside the point) demanding id and being told to get out of our car for a search, completely mind boggling that it is allowed to happen

Call it what it is; religious extremism (aka christofascism). Used for millennias to convince the poor that they are happy being poor, hungry, homeless and ill.

1 month ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

That's no fuckin' coincidence. Religious ignorance is the greatest threat to intelligence.

Always has been. We would be exploring the Universe if it wasn't for morons being afraid of the clouds.

I live in TN and can confirm it's fucking horrible here. Everyone runs around scared out of their minds that "illegal aliens" are going to home invade, grape and kill them. Meanwhile, their kids and grandkids drop dead of drug OD's for which they also blame undocumented workers. No income tax but the among highest sales taxes in the country. Child marriage (aka institutional pdf'ia) but they pass laws to allow people to inspect your kids genitals..."to keep them safe".

How did MS not take the number one spot?

1 month ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 1

I habe no idea, bit it's nice to see we have improved even a small amount.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Whoa now, we may be poor, uneducated, low life expectancy, high birth mortality rate, and generally bad health. But at least we aren't Alabama. It's the only state we can look down on.

1 month ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

There is a quote from a shitty movie, Annapolis, where a guy from Arkansas tells a fuck up, who is fucking up worse than he...

"Jake, you're my Mississippi.... People who live in Arkansas, you know what their favorite state is? Mississippi. Cause Mississippi's the only thing that keeps Arkansas from being the worst state in the whole country."

1 month ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Surprised West Virginia aint on it

1 month ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It must be number 11, but yeah, I'd think it should be in the top 10 at least.

1 month ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

I agree it isn't fair to rank MS with numbers higher than they can count while wearing shoes.
