She's the new record holder for womens speed climbing. She beat the last lady by 0.01 seconds.

Also known as "opposite falling"

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Meanwhile, I fell out of bed because I got tangled in the sheets.

She climbs that wall like a person who just turned the lights off in the basement and they are running up the stairs...

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

But world record*

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ya them shadow demons better never even bother chasing her.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

relax spidermonkey, dont make me feel like a complete failure :(

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I wouldn't want to be on her belay line.

Do not unmute. Jesus Christ what is wrong with people

She chose all the hand and foot placements and calculated how far to the next one and executed all that in under 7 seconds, meanwhile I'm just spectating like

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

it's a spec wall, so they can practice the route beforehand. Still crazy impressive though.

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

The holds are always exactly the same. So it's mostly automation. They could probably climb it in the dark in less than 20 secs. Still impressive.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I'm not familiar with this, but it looks like it's not really technical at all. Is that correct? Really more about strength and execution

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's around 5.10c/6b which is medium difficult. An average once a week climber will perhaps struggle with it.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is correct. No matter what country, there will be a gym somewhere with an identical speed climbing wall. In the US, most any major city will have one.

Holy spiderlady.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cool video, but why does it sound like whales fucking?

2 years ago | Likes 134 Dislikes 1

Because someone thought it would be hilarious to put slow mo sound on there to imply she was even faster.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fucking morons did a useless sound edit

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Why and how do you know this sound?

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's the sound you hear coming from your Mom's bedroom.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

How about you mind your business and let me worry about whale sex noises

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

You don’t remember the stranglehold whale songs had on 80s New Age music?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Totally unrelated to your comment, but related to the username. Just received an Anycubic Kobra 2 Max today. Thing is HUGE!!!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dang 500mm/s print speeds that's pretty insane. I was psyched I could press mine to the 80-100 range but damn.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Looking forward to setting it up this weekend. Have a Viper also, haven't started using it yet. Now that I have both I will get them both up and running and knock out some projects.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Awesome best of luck man! May your prints be spaghetti free.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you, same to you!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s filmed at the bottom of the ocean in a spherical glass gymnasium so the whales can watch.

2 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 0

And it turns out speed climbing is super erotic to whales so... Here we are.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

She climbed up the wall faster than I’d fall down the wall

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've rock climbed so I know that tether doesn't meaningfully pull you up, but it's breathtaking how she's moving so fast and fluid that it looks at times like she's being yanked up by the tether.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You could give me half an hour and I wouldn't make it past climby-thing number seven.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

All the holds are really friendly, obviously there is *some* technique but it's a lot friendlier than comp walls that focus on technique and ability rather than speed

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

By friendly i mean theyre all "jugs" which are by far the easiest hold to grab on to.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah it's more of a height thing for me. No likey.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Is it just me or does speed climbing always looks like the climber gets pulled up with the security rope and moves arms and legs as if they climb themselves?

2 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 2

It's momentum. She gets going at the start and for the rest of the climb she's literally floating up.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 10

More impressively this was filmed on earth where there is gravity constantly pulling her down. But you are right, somewhere in space that would work the way you think it works.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

i has to watch a few times to make sure it didn't have tension.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

You could say that you were paying a tension to the rope …

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

By maintaining a more consistent velocity she avoids accelerating as much as reasonably possible. This reduces the work needed and allows her to move faster over distance and looks like she is floating up the wall.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I wish I could see it without the rope, but I'm sure that's dangerous

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

CGI

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's how good and superhuman they are. It felt like she was floating and just doing the same as in those bad stunts, flailing arms and legs while a rope pull her. But you can clearly see the rope being slack until the very end when she throws herself.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

I would have trouble running that fast on flat ground.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

She climbs that wall faster than some people walk on a flat surface

2 years ago | Likes 225 Dislikes 0

I've never tried. How much assistance does the tension on the rope give?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It doesn't. Or at least it shouldn't.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

She climbs that wall faster than some people RUN on a flat surface

2 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 0

Who you calling "some people" I have a name!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why are you attacking me like this?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's just so easy

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Faster than I can find a pair of matching socks, that's for sure

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

No one cares about the color of your socks. Just buy black socks on bulk. Some are short, some are not. Black anyway.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Friend, life's too short to waste it on matching socks.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Demon

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This needs Super Mario music added

Or do we?

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I mean if they catch her I'm pretty sure the rest of us are already dead so I guess in a way you're right but also not really?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I logged in specifically to upvote this comment. Great laugh in the morning. Thanks for that.

left4dead hunter seems a bit more achievable now

speaking of zombie apocalypse, why does this video sound like undead moaning

This is a brieving for zombies on who to turn in to a zombie first.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What is she gonna do? Climb me to death?

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Where do I sign up for that?

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I mean... She's got a mean grip

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How can there be a world record? Are the routes always the same? It seems like you could make a stairway and get a faster time. How is it a direct comparison?

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

The speed climbing wall is standard - same wall in every competition (and gym where the athletes train for it). It's a different discipline than bouldering or sport climbing, where the climbers don't get to see or train the routes before the competition.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_climbing for reference

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nope it is changed for every event, & if I remember they aren't even aloud to look at it until right before the starting buzzer

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

Yeah that's what I thought would be the case. So it's strange to me that times on different routes can be considered the same for purposes of a world record.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

You are thinking of bouldering. Speed climbing walls are always the same.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes the route is standardized.
