Born yesterday at “ Five Star Dairy“
I’ve never seen this although I’m sure this mutation in dairy calves has surely happened before.
Dairy reports that this was produced from a normal bull and cow pair.

Beautiful

I'm surprised there are no "this burger looks delicious" comments.
fascotor
Milka has finally succeeded at their genetic experiments.
BabyGT
Having grown up on a farm, I'm very mooved by this.

Never seen this before and neither has my girlfriend, who is a large animal vet! You might have a blue lobster on your hands there. Awesome.
Dodgerthehwydog
I don’t own this calf, but I have contacted the dairy with intentions of purchase. They said they may consider selling.
Imwaitingforamuse
That's udderly amazing!
lakesei
It might have some Dairy Shorthorn genetics somewhere as this colouring can occur with that breed!
slyshadows8888
why is this rare? what do parents look like?
Dodgerthehwydog
This color does not naturally occur in cattle. Mom is black n white, dad is red.
demturds
Mmm delicious.

Gorgeous ❣
GenerallyLurkInBed
Is the color the unique aspect of the cow or is there something else?
Dodgerthehwydog
Cattle don’t naturally occur in this color pattern.... very odd

moo, bitch!
easchwab2
A famous Texas Longhorn named Old Blue made seven round trips on the Goodnight-Loving Cattle Trail from Texas to Cheyenne. Same coloring!
easchwab2
The cowhands named the steer Old Blue because he was colored a blue-grey and white. That coloring was sometimes called “mulberry.”
sundaymondayhippyday
I take it they liked it so much they all lived in a cow ? retirement home , 4ever and ever.....
easchwab2
Yeah, no they didn’t.....they made a train trip to Chicago, and well, it ended badly for them. Old Blue was a Judas steer if anything.

Looks sad :(
CaspianQuix
Delicious.
Dodgerthehwydog
No word yet on if this calf will end up as veal or saved because of the aww factor.
IPostPicturesOfMyWeinerDogs
My friend isn't sure what's so special about this calf.....
Dodgerthehwydog
His merle coat color is not natural for the cow species.
Barkinsons
I'd definitely keep it, even if it was just to sell it. Some farmers pay a lot for special colours
ImGoingToEatAllYourApples
Why are people downvoting this? I'm sure it's 100% true
sundaymondayhippyday
Because cows are sacred to some. That cow seems extra sacred too most
IAmMorbidlyObese
You better save her
Dodgerthehwydog
I did contact them for purchase, they are considering it.

TheCowSaysMoooo
Lol, thanks for that ?
MyOtherShipIsAPython
It's quite alright, good sir.
HatredandVitriol
Do you know why we have veal? Only cows with recently born babies lactate. We want that milk for our selves, therefore the baby cow has to.
LadyCottonHead
Veal is the boy cow, which would otherwise have simply been discarded in favour of the multi-purpose females. Veal is just not wasteful.
Dodgerthehwydog
Yes, I knew that.
HatredandVitriol
die.
ElviraQueenOfDarkness
No really Veal comes mostly from male cows from dairy farms. Females are future producers or sold. Most cows are hand reard as it is safer 1
HatredandVitriol
That's different from what the statement how? because it's male cows?
ElviraQueenOfDarkness
That actually no cow is breastfed from the mother anymore. And they usually are not slaughtered till 6-9 months.
ElviraQueenOfDarkness
then letting them suckle with the chance of them getting trampled. Especially in a busy heard.
