It's so beautiful…
FP Edit:
Since people asked here's the fast.com results: https://i.imgur.com/8hdDEmS.png
This is actually kinda mediocre and pricy by some EU countries' standards, but it's more than I've ever had even available to me at home.
FP Edit 2:
Oh. The package deal I got with Vodafone/Ziggo offers up to 40GB/month mobile data too. So that's nice…
FP Edit 3:
Looks like this post finally pushed me over the top to "Glorious". So, uh… I'd like to thank the Academy… *get's played off stage*
imadownvoteyouhard999
Can we import this beautiful bandwidth?
Snooj
That ping makes me more excited than the download speed.
SidneyMajora
*crying in german*
JayDelCor
I am paying like 200 a month for a student flat with internet over here in Germany.
williammurderfacemurderfacemurderface
I'm in Denmark, and am getting 115/115Mbps effectively off my 100/100 fiber at sub-10ms ping. Paying €40/month for that. Not complaining.
AK90
@0x783czar Bahnhof just started offering the fastest residential Fiber here in Sweden. 10,000Mbit/s for $60/month. Pretty bananas!
nekoThief
Bahnhof in Sweden now offers 10gbit connection to private consumers at the price of 299sek (approx €30)
AzgarOgly
Well, the catch is, it is 10gbit to your provider. Most probably there will be slower part between you and the service you consume.
TheSwedishCryptid
So then you get multiple things to broadcast. Or create your own ISP and provide 1gbit each to 9 other people for 99sek
Caramster
For the 6 first month, then 498 sek. 2 year plan minimum. Regardless, is a great deal of you for some reason need that capacity.
Hgbf
$60 in USD.
crthaze
I would *find* a reason :D
chrisluissanc
this is where you setup a sever backbone/farm. The only place where i live that has a 10gbit connection is my local school system.
lusomgp
Doumdidoum
It's so bad in NA it hurts the economy.
ThermalPanda
Depends where you are in the US. For me it's pretty good and not to expensive.
DarthFutuza
For me its $80/month for 5Mbps and that's like the only option other than cellular/satellite (but those have bandwidth caps).
liamossher
I have 100 mbps considering I live in the Golan Heights what the fuck
l8rz
Fuck. I should get 25, I get 3.
rachiesama
Holy shit.
kroks
18€ http://www.speedtest.net/result/7113309128.png
AzgarOgly
For like 20 EUR (don't remember exactly) a month I have 50/50.
tuffrabit
screw the bandwidth... that 10ms ping is the neato number there.
BigBossTheMSFCommander
Tell me how, free me from my 12Mb/s hell
frostman233
Jesus. But our cable companies are "looking out for us", lol.
PaulyParker
I’m English. Takes under an hour flying to Netherlands yet I can’t get anywhere near that speed with the top package. Fucking bullshit.
leethario695
I'm on virgin, supposed to be 200mb, hit 69mb in January. Thought I'd died and gone to fibre heaven.
MultiplePersonalitiesProfile
For Christ sake my ‘Murican mateys, your government single handed bloody built the feckin interwebs. Get yer shit together.
ehoba666
(looks at my ~950Mbps Google Fiber)
chrisluissanc
Feel the power of the floridians!
from at&t and is like $80 a month. A bit excessive but acceptable.
Grenateh
That isn't real. No ISP gives you 1:1 up/down. This is business internet?
chrisluissanc
https://www.att.com/internet/fiber.html took a minute to find but this is it.
HolyCringeLordBatman
Not bad, I pay about that in NY for 300 down and I get about 50 up
chrisluissanc
nice, and unless you need to set up a sever farm chances are that is a way better deal.
ProfessionalJalapenoWrangler
I live in Ocala FL and I was only able to recently get 10.......via DSL..........
DarthFutuza
I pay $80 /month for 5Mbps...
Willybomb7
Where are you in Florida? I'm in the panhandle and can only get up to 300Mbps....
positiveleroy
I’m up in Flagler county, and ATT just started laying fiber in my neighborhood. No idea when it’ll be available though.
chrisluissanc
Miami Kendall, try to see if fpl is working on setting cables up in your area, they are working in tandem with at&t to set up fiber.
Willybomb7
Doesn't look like it anytime soon :-(. Pensacola is the closest and still about an hour away. Oh well...maybe someday!
Nolongerlurkingafterthis
Eyy I live in Westchester and have the same plan and ISP, we recently got it and its fucking bonkers I love it.
Capone78
48$ here in Sweden for 1000/1000
Kaseladen
I have comcast with 200 down 100 up for pretty cheap. It all comes down to where you live I think
LooseyGooseyBrett
$20 tonme is pretty cheap, I doubt you isp is $20
exileut
Comcast $50/mo, 180/6 1024GB cap, 12mo contract. Only "competitor" is ATT $40/mo 25/3 1000GB cap, 12mo contract. Internet only.
Kaseladen
AT&T is the only competitor here and its not even a contest, Fios isnt in this area. Also have no contract in comcast
exileut
off contract is + $15-20/mo? return of data cap is terrible, but speed/cost has improved exponentially in the last 20 years.
Kaseladen
I can’t say I have a data cap (or more specifically, an enforced data cap)
exileut
two courtesy overage months, reset every twelve months. Crazy to think residential internet is one million times faster than 30 years ago
crthaze
Generally it depends on if there's a faster competitor nearby. Where I've lived they're the only game in town & so we got taken advantage of
Kaseladen
There’s nobody else around here comparable, so I kind of luck out
01010011a
That's what they sold you. But do you know if you've ever actually achieved those speeds? I'm guessing it's not even close most of the time.
fhhfjihv2
Yea you can just test it. It’s called [speed test] free app pretty accurate too. That’s what Comcast technicians use. :]
DeadeicPrints
I pay for 150mbps and it's almost always around there.
RayGiIIette
I pay for 5mbs up and 5 down as this is the fastest in my area. Rarely get 4.5 up and 2.5 down.
HotPocketMemes
I have Comcast, 110mbps plan. They recently upped me to 150mbps at no cost. Regularly pulling 170
HotPocketMemes
Speed tested on both speedtest and fast.com, never slower than what we pay for
RuffleMyFluffles
My area isnt that cheap, but recently got upgraded to coaxial gigabit. Can get 100mb/s constant for ~$40, or gigabit for like $150
SebbyBaker
I had Comcast until I moved out of the service area. Paid for 100 down and would regularly see speeds 110+
Kaseladen
I hit those speeds pretty regularly. I don’t just take them for their word and assume I’m getting that.
01010011a
I guess it is location then. That's never been my experience with either provider and Comcast has always been the worst for me.
chrisluissanc
hanspotterent3
Try living in Canada, we got internet on one end cellular on the other. Neither have lube.
SarfTheMagnifico
It's not as bad as people make it out to be. Our cellular infrastructure is among the most advanced in the world.
cocacolacan
Lol
hanspotterent3
Yet I can't reception in downtown Vancouver (on bell). I use to work for rogers I can promise you our cell service is cancer.
btimup
Yet we pay the most for the shittiest speeds :(
SurfingWithTheAlien
Finland: Pay for theoretical 50M, get 5 on a bad day-35good. Comes through 4G which is the only option where I live. So weekends are slow :(
Hyero
Do you have an old router? They can really mess things up.
SurfingWithTheAlien
From provider with latest firmware. To be honest it doest go below 10 often but it happens. I think the link just gets too busy.
SurfingWithTheAlien
And fiber would cost thousands even if everybody in the neighbourhood joined in :(
PapaNurgleLovesYou
We've got 7.5, in America
TheManInTheWall
Try it with fast.com, Speedtest is too unreliable
crthaze
TheManInTheWall
Lucky bastard. I only get 26mbps
goboltz
this one is the best ---> http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest
DrivebyViktum
gigabit here. once you have it , nothing else compares. my work is only 100 mbit. its like molasses in comparison.
NizDl1k09FSz6jQeGMChdBLeUitegrqjGnThPnbRwM
I know the feeling
perhapsthisusernameisnottakenyet
Recently moved from Paris to a smaller city in France, I went from 1 Gbps and a 10 ms ping to a slow 13 Mbps and a 37 ms ping... I'm crying
kelpo122
That is more than what you get in most cities in Mexico :(
perhapsthisusernameisnottakenyet
I weep for you as well, mi hermano
SephiRothIRA
That’s weird bc both are waaaaaay faster than most websites operating speeds or any streaming bitrate.
DrivebyViktum
Well, more and more sites are being optimized for it, and I didn't say anything about entertainment.I'm talking Remote Desktops etc.
SephiRothIRA
Ahhhhh okay cool thanks for the infos!
cosmicmatt
10bps up, 0.5 down. Kill me pls.
Blackrain39
Wut. England here, got 100Mb, and that's considered big.
tyrunn
England here, gigabit up and down, Hyperoptic ftw
charliegrs
As someone who lives alone 100 is overkill for me but it's basically my only option. I would be fine with 50 if they offered it
flavivsaetivs
I have gigabit ATT Fiber. We get 70mbps on average.
Grandmastersexsay2
Yup. I get 970 up/down from fios. OPs speeds make me want to cry too. 38 Mbps upload?
Inappropesmagotes
I have 200 down but 25 up. Comcast is a bitch. 90 USD/mo
thelittleenginethatcouldnteven
1gbps up, 50 mbps down. $175 a month. Cable One.
thelittleenginethatcouldnteven
Ehhhh reverse that. 1gbps down, 50mbps up.
Inappropesmagotes
I was very confused for a sec. That price is decent, kinda pricey. I have a choice of Comcast, or Comcast.
DarthFutuza
I would do questionably moral things for 25Mbps, best I can get is 5Mbps (which actually ends up more like 3.89Mbps.
LacquerHead
There's no way the server isn't a bottleneck over 100 Mbps, I can't even tell the difference between 20 and 1000.
DarthFutuza
Try https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3AKlscrjmQ 4k60fps option and compare the buffering speeds on the two networks. 20 is horrible.
ThatTwerkingWhoreFromOliveGarden
Steam servers dont have a bottleneck as far as i have noticed. Nor do blizzard servers. I have had steam download at 25 mbytes/s
Scotttheroux
Yeah I regularly get steam hitting 70MBps. - gig cable here in London.
SnootyEuropean
I mean, that's equivalent to 200 Mbit/s, so it doesn't really say much about how well Steam supports a gigabit connection
ALlamaAmongSheep
Cries internally from australia
SameSheet
/a/zM82H .. my modest internet connection, 0$
numbonvalium
Yeah, have friends in Australia, they pay out of the ass for similar internet speeds to me.
VikingInOz
I lives there for 4 years. Back in Norway now... such a difference. Aussie net is absolute crap :P
BlainetheMono

Blame Telstra, they own the internet there
RoryBlack1
That has actually been one the the nbn has been amazing for. So many more ISP options and much more competition.

Oh, I heard about the crazy internet standards in austraila here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=haImi4cWau0 Just why?
GOWood
In my mind I pictured Dick Smith telling the story
bunduz
A government who out of spite stopped the previous governments infrastructure to use fibre to copper connections. Because:cheaper.
Nisc92
Cries even harder from Germany
tehmarxman
Germany, not everything is a competition sheesh
LitttleKidLover
Cries even harderer from the Philippines
IndianSpongebob
Bitch please... (From India)
LordofSadFace
Cries not so hard from Mexico
WhoStoleMySweetroll
Wait, wait. Is German internet not speedy and efficient?
chrisluissanc
maybe not, fiber lines take a lot of work to get in place since they can't get bent more than x amount.
Firestart3r
Depends. In west germany in metropolititan areas you get 400 Mb/s for 40€. Everywhere else between 6Mb/s for 20€ or up to 100 Mb/s for 40€
Nisc92
Depends where you live. I live close to Aachen. We are very lucky to have kinda consistent 50mbs down. But regions not close to "big" cities
Nisc92
Are running on slow as fuck internet.. My parents are running on max 6k which is not consistent at all
PlainJane04
TheWarHymn
Holy crap, they display the speeds in Kbps....
Wurstinator
The world can be small, fellow Aachener :)
Nisc92
Hi there :D Do you live in the city or close?
GoliathSkittles
Wait...are you saying 50mbs down is bad?
Firestart3r
Well I live in Frankfurt and have 450 Mb/s. It really depends on where you love if you can only have 6 Mb/s or 450 Mb/s
gandraw
You do know much of Australia still has download limits right? And generally like 5GB/month.
Nisc92
Oh. I am so sorry... QwQ
Nisc92
Hides head in shame*
