As someone whose mother forced them to be Mormon before completely rejecting and hating religion because of all the abuse. They are quite literally some of the worst people on the planet. Nice to your face and evil scumbags underneath. They hate everyone who isn't them and do everything they can to get people like the one in the story to do what they did and kill themselves or try to scare them so they can't be their real self.

She lost her faith seeing fellow jews help hunt down their fellow LGBT camp survivors. She couldn't stand the sight of betrayal and her own chosing to effectively become the camp guards once the SS were gone.
