I almost want to see the Law of Unanticipated Consequences play out with an attempt to change the 14th Amendment. If it only applied to freed slaves then nobody whose ancestors were never naturalized as part of a legal process would be a US citizen anymore. Even those folks whose families go back to the late 1700s would no longer be US citizens if there were no legal framework outside the 14th to grant them citizenship. I wonder how many Republikkans we could deport in that scenario...
#1 unfortunately, in nebraska, if a primaried member of one of the two main parties drops out, the party must provide a candidate. The Republicans and the dems themselves are trying to push for another candidate. I know Cindy Burbank. Her whole thing was trying to get rid of Pricketts and said if she couldn't win, she'd get out of osborn's way. Then this fuckery surfaced, and of course the new candidate will be AIPAC and draw votes away from Osborn
The Nebraska race is close, it’s nuts to watch the republicans attack ads. The only thing they really accuse him of is being a secret Democrat. They even wrote an annoyingly catchy song that plays on the radio. I’m hopeful it’s because they’re desperate. Osborn also holds lots of town halls and Rickets is an asshat, so here we go NE!!
#7 isn't entirely correct, I live in the local area concerning this data center. It only got postponed because of the general public outrage about the datacenter. We recently had a public hearing concerning the project a week ago or so, and 3 locals were arrested for holding up signs and demonstrating how they felt about this awful project. The govt. Here is dead set on seeing this datacenter through. It won't be an easy fight for us
Also it wasn't really 6-3, it was 5-4. Beer Bro agreed that Trump's executive order abrogating birthright citizenship can't be enforced. HOWEVER, he based it on currently enforced immigration legislation, NOT the 14th Amendment. It was a very clear statement that he would accept Congress removing birthright citizenship by simply modifying some immigration-related laws, rather then needing to amend the constitution. Lawyer's explanation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9tRRklL6oY
If they had accepted, Trump's citizenship would have been nullified, thus making him ineligible for presidency. They would have ignored this, of course, but non-Republicans wouldn't.
And? She became a US citizen in 1942, 4 years before Trump was born, but that wouldn't have mattered. Trump's father was a US citizen because his paternal grandfather became a US citizen in 1892, and AFAIK in the US you only need one citizen parent for the child to be a legal citizen.
I'd love it if there were some magical "get him out of office free" button we could push, but birthright citizenship ain't it. Clarence Thomas broke with Trump on this matter, so maybe you could get him with it.
No need to do that. We know the truth. Fascists are lying and abusing power. Only everyday heroes can stop them. Attack at every opening. Harass them. It's the struggle of our time. Fight the good fight.
Because each side blames the other of the same thing, only with sources can we show which side is mostly honest, and which is mostly confessing and projecting.

The Nebraska guy: okay, he union, but do the policies he stands for actually reflect that? Or is he just republican-light?

Can we all give some love to Cindy Burbank for having the courage to do what so many others in her shoes have not?

Check out Kansas too! Lots of opportunities to take senate seats.

Well, technically there's only two opportunities.

#4 glad it got tossed but the vote should have been 9-0.

Absolutely should have been, but it's still kind of astonishing that three Republican appointees flipped.

How would Trump's citizenship have been nullified? As I understand it his paternal grandfather was legally naturalized.
B1tchtastic
His mother is a Scottish immigrant.

Maybe we could get him with this denaturalization thing they want since 2025.

Great writing style. All simple, concise sentences. Cut to the chase. Keep the villains nameless and name the hero so we know who gets the glory.

But add sources.

Yes, need to do that, because this is the type of post that I like to share with my single-issue-voting family members.

You got your source between #3 and #4. Happy now?
