Why? The goat would do that even to a wall if it’s alone, in sadness! The goat is not charging and definitely not putting an ounce of strength in the neck, she’s playing :) source: my grandfather had a lot of animals, you’ll learn to read them a little if you care
Unlikely. Goats are chaotic neutral at best. You can get to know them, but never quite trust them. If that kid is raised around goats, he hopefully knows to stay on his toes and watch his back.
my ma has a goat that’s pretty well trained not to mess with anyone carrying a length (abt half) of a red pool noodle. if he tries, he gets wacked on the horns by the noodle. the impact doesn’t really do much to him. but he HATES the sound, to the extent that brandishing the noodle will make him back off.
My neighbor had a goat that was mean af. Instead of butting you he would get in front and hook the horns into your thigh as hard as possible, with bruising and frequently bloodshed. I hated that fkn goat until I realized you could grab a horn a certain way and when he did his little dick move it would torsion him onto the ground on his side. After that we had an agreement.
I used to get chased through a field by a farmers 3 or 4 dogs. They used to scare the shit out of me until I learned from a friend you had to hold your hand like a gun, point it at them and yell bang!!! They would scatter quickly from then on.
Yea, but they aren't dogs, wagging tails mean different things to different animals. If you see a cat wiggling its tail crazy then you are in trouble, for example. Having said that, i still want to think the goat was having fun.
Spine compression is not a bad thing. Squats compress the spine too. And guess what the bones, and ligaments and muscles all around it fet stronger as a result. And the joint and disc gets lubricated when the load is removed through immibition.
With my goats I found it better to use a gloved hand, use your elbows to absorb the blow, and get a specific glove to use for it so they know if it's playtime.
Manufacturers all say they should be replaced after even a minor collision (they're designed that compression spreads equally throughout the helmet and a weakness at any point destroys their ability to do that - it crumples at weak spot). So integrity of helmet is gone long ago id say.
For liability and greed reasons they say to replace it after dropping it or any impact. Helmets are build with a hard outer shell to spread out impacts. Polycarbonate, fibreglass and carbon fibre in order from heaviest to lightest to reach the needed strength. And a hard foam (typically EPS) to absorb the impact energy. A cracked outer shell is of course automatically garbage, it's possible to damage thin carbon in a way you can't see, but it's unlikely. But I only recommend carbon for racing.
With a hard impact the inner EPS foam can be compressed, reducing the amount of energy it can absorb next time. But it takes a hard impact to do it. Dropping your bike at 10kph or dropping your helmet three feet isn't going to do it. But of course only you can decide how much your safety is worth. I just spent $600 on a brand new ECE helmet. But if I where to drop it tomorrow, I'd spend the $600 on an airbag backpack long before replacing the helmet.

Looks like both having fun, the boy looks gentle with him. Beauty of a caprine.

I love that you can tell the goat is definitely taking it easy on him. Full wind up and then just a kiss.

Tail wiggle is also a good indicator this happy/playing. Goats will wiggle their nubbie little tails in excitement.

Bold of you to assume you can train a goat. There is a reason we based the image of Satan on them.

He is not trained, he is born and built for bonking. Helmets or not, you can not stop the bonking.

I come from a rural area with mean dogs. Not Hood Boyz at all. Serious dogs with a job to do. Same situation. They would chase you like wolves.
Solved by one kick in the face of the leader. Never again.
Some semi-wild adult dogs need a physical "education" before they do something too stupid.
