When you have an animal chew through a door, so you switch it with solid wood, but again, chewing, so you get a new METAL door but forget the wall next to it is still wood, then you'll realize having pets like these is much less fun than it seems.

Good news is there is a vaccine that works after you've had contact. The bad news is, they have to start IMMEDIATELY, before they even get tests back to find out if the animal was rabid or not, and it's a LOT of shots.
