I'm all for justice and punishments for him and his enablers. But even if justice had happened post J6 that wouldn't save the US on its own. Evil people existed earlier as well, but they had to be circumspect or they were cast out. The rot at the core of US politics is in wealth disparity, in lack of responsiveness from the political system, in exploitation. Democracies die when enough people are singularly powerful to destroy guardrails and enough citizens lose their buy-in with democracy.

In jail after losing office and being convicted of all his crimes would be best. So he can be made example of that a president is not immune from punishment. If he dies in office they'll just memorialize him and tell everyone to mourn him like a national hero.

I thought that would happen after he lost in 2020, but other than Miss Lindsey saying she was done with him and Rigor Tortoise blaming him for Jan 6 but voting to acquit anyway, there was very little "Donold who?" Now the powers behind the throne know they can get a buffoon elected – twice – they'll try again with a candidate more acceptable to independents and wavering Republicans. They'll still want their new guy to be acceptable to the cult, so they can't/won't disparage tRump too much.
