I moved around a lot as a kid and missed this one and spent a summer reading my dad’s girlfriend’s Stephen King collection instead. For some reason “Where The Red Fern Grows” fucked me up worse than any of that.

Hell yeah. It was good at going into detail about what needed to be done and how. And that bird sounded so damn succulent

Was a really good read. There are several sequels as well. Another good one from that time was My Side of the Mountain.

Didn't get that one, but the best book I've ever been assigned to read was 'The Ugly American'. I would still recommend it as it's still relevant.
