So the parrots found a way not to be on display :-)

I was at a place that had parrots (a gardens thing) a while back and I somehow completely forgot that they could speak, so when one said hello to me it absolutely fucked me up

Idiots, they'll now have ALL parrots swearing. Plus tell Grandma it's the future

Why is this even an issue? Seriously? Swearing birds? So fucking what? Does someone really take that personally? WTF?

They'll teach the other parrots to swear, seen it happen before.

Yeah, it's pretty short-sighted to ASSume that the parrots would replace their swearing, no, it's more likely that they'll teach their new words to the flock, as well as lean new words from the flock…

Parrots live to be 100 years old. I think they should simply lean into this and ask that visitors sign a waver that they will not encourage the parrots learning more swear words.

Build new aviary. Build adults-only bar in the aviary. Fill aviary with swearing parrots. Rake in profits.

I want to enjoy a nice porter while a hundred African Greys tell me to go fuck myself

Alternative plan: acknowledge that cultural taboos around arbitrary mouth noises are dumb, and stop accomidating people who react to them.

Give us the Swearing Parrot bar! Adults will enjoy this fully :)

Just to be clear... the behavior which the humans found objectionable was TAUGHT to the parrots by humans. It's not the parrots who should be isolated, punished, or have their behavior modified as a result. If you don't want parrots to imitate humans swearing, enforce a hefty fine for swearing in their presence. On the other hand... who gives a fuck?

Honestly I'm more interested in visiting parrots who swears and throws slurs than regular parrots.

Honestly, let them swear, and let that become a reason people visit and fund the place and fund the care & research of animals

My friend's grandmother has an African Gray. Speaks a bit of English, but mostly Gujarati....and so does the parrot.

This would be an attraction so I would leave them be.

Just make an 18+ beer garden and put the swearing parrots in there. People would pay to eat a nice meal while being told to fuck of by a flock of birds.

I find it fascinating that I learn most of my English swearwords from US series & movies, originating from a country where they put signs up to warn for swearing parrots.

it depends on how the audience reacts. the parrots are looking for attention and will use whatever sounds will cause people to engage with them. you want to stop the swearing you have to get the people to not react or turn away when it happens. the parrots will learn that swearing doesn't get them what they want. but, dang, swearing parrots are just too cute, though, aren't they?

African Grey have a good chance of actually understanding most of the words they use and can actually parse simple sentences to communicate.

They will b9t stop swearing, this is the attraction now. I have one and her vocabulary memory is very long

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's not gonna work. Now you're gonna have an entire flock of swearing birds.

Need to start playing recordings of other words and sounds when closed to visitors.

I don't know how to feel about this. I kinda really, super duper wanna go to the aviary where all the parrots constantly tell me to go fuck myself.

I wanna hang out with the swear birds.

A lot of it is imagination. We had a cockatoo who had to be removed from her exhibit and be housed in the back area, due to complaints she was telling people, "Fuck you!" She was saying, "Love you!" She likely didn't know what either phrase meant. "Love you!" was just a sound she'd picked up from a former owner or zoo guest or something.

Like a Call of Duty lobby with birds.

Parrots shouldn't be shamed for swearing. They should be celebrated!

100 Swearing Parrots would be a great name for an acapella group

Have them sing sea shanties.

There was a metal or hardcore band called Hatebeak that was fronted by a cockatoo. Wonder if they need any more vocals?

Or the end of a really, really, really long version of the 12 days of Christmas

In my head they're like a cross between A Flock Of Seagulls and 1,000 Homo DJ's.
