I wish that I had been more objective at the time.
I was angry for no reason.

I miss him

You learned, OP. That's huge.

We could have had the nice lady with all the great energy and ideas.

5 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 4

But her laugh! /s

Fucking idiots.

5 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

How can you not love the guy?

5 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

Skilled orator with great timing.

5 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

He did a lot of shitty things like most American presidents. He was definitely a big part of American imperialism and worsening the chokehold of the military industrial complex on all of us. And it’s important to not romanticize him because of his charisma. But also dang I miss how charismatic that man was.

5 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 5

I miss having a President that wasn't actively working to destroy the country.

Heh, I had to delete my initial comment cause of quite a bad typo.

5 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

..are you high?

Nobody's perfect and all that, sure ..but holy shit bud...this is the type of shit that got us where we are now.

Obama despite faults was hands down the best thing America's had since it's inception.

5 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Yeah, it's exhausting right? I'm far-left both economically and socially, but many American progressives, especially on social media, are too fucking stupid to know how to win power. They think it will come in some sort of singular moment and person instead of through decades of hard work via millions of failed, flawed human beings.

They're constantly messiah seeking and then attacking anyone who fails their ever changing redlines.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think it’s just that the bar is so low for politicians that we are like it’s ok that he bombed civilians in Yemen because he was better spoken than the last guy and was charming

5 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Above and beyond all else, just a genuinely decent human being

5 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 4

He was much better than Trump but let’s not go around calling him a decent person. He was a piece of shit too.

5 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I think it's important to not let anxiety over fascism make us yearn for better, but still inadequate presidents just because they're dripping with charisma.

5 months ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 15

Take the bus that gets you closest to your destination

5 months ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 3

Obviously, but you're still supposed to aim higher.

5 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

or maybe don't get so hung up on the driver and just focus on getting yourself to the destination.

5 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I am quite literally telling people to stop obsessing about the guy who used to drive the bus.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

and I'm pointing out that him not being perfect is no reason not to yearn for him.

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

It's weird to be that hung up on an irrelevant dude who wasn't even that good in the grand scheme of things.

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He wasn't perfect, but I prefer him to this one.

5 months ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 4

Perfect is the enemy of good.

5 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Never settle for bad because there's a worse alternative.

5 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 7

I'll take bad over evil.

5 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Obviously but less go for the other options, like neither. It's not like Trump and Obama are our only options.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Name 1 good president, ever. Ill wait.

5 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 13

Eisenhower, Roosevelt (pick one), Washington, Lincoln.

And the Presidential Wall of Shame winner is… It’s a tie between Buchanan, the president whose actions led directly to the American Civil War and Donald Trump.

5 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 7

Just a heads up Washington loved his slaves.

5 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I didn’t say he was perfect. Both Roosevelts had some interesting opinions, too. Lincoln didn’t give a damn abolishing slavery until it became convenient. Eisenhower wasn’t an angel either.

People are nuanced and the bad needs to be acknowledged alongside the good.

FDR refused to support Anti-Lynching laws, worked quite hard to try and clear Mexican Americans out of America, and signed the order to put Japanese Americans into internment camps.

Teddy forced Native Americans off their lands, expanded the Monroe Doctrine, and ordered a dishonorable discharge of an entire company of soldiers because they were accused of killing two people despite their evidence of their innocence.

Yes, they both did good things, but let's be consistent here.

Andrew Johnson needs to be in the mix for worst for his role in undermining Reconstruction.

5 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

He’s in my bottom 10, certainly.

5 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Obama is a great man, was a great President. Our problems however, are such that they cannot be solved, we cannot be 'saved', by One Man. That kind of thinking got Trump elected.
We need more engagement, more local voting and participation, better discourse and educated debate, and less dunk-on-you, own-the-fill-in-the-blanks division. Americans spend so much time, energy and tax dollars going after other Americans (and residents).

I miss President Obama!!

5 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

This is what a president should be.

5 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Oh, he dropped bombs for sure - on poor people in foreign countries.

5 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 5

I like that he valued intelligence and I felt that he was well intentioned and willing to compromise. It’s important that more leaders share these traits no matter their stance on issues

5 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Can we just elect a dog as president at this point? I truly believe things would be so much better.

5 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Since i have seen this "Obama Means Family" - post, i sometimes see him (Obama) showing up in my dreams. My dreams are not about him, but sometimes he is just there and talks with me for minute or so, about what just happened and how it would make him feel or what he thinks about what just happened for me (in my dream). I am not from America. I have never been in america, or very engaged with worlwide politics (until recently).

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Imagine everytime you wanna talk with your closest friends about a dream, the first question you always get is: "Was Obama there?"

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I miss having a POTUS I could hate the regular amount. Enough charisma that you can actually listen to them speak (or even enjoy it with Obama) and policies that ranged from great to good to disappointing to only sometimes infuriating, but mostly good enough. Having to live twice through a POTUS with anti-charisma and only bad policies you have to hope the courts will stop has killed my faith in this country.

5 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No other president will measure up.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was at this event!!!! It was sooo cool!

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

During the Obama presidency Imgur had memes. Memes like the ones with Biden. Wholesome. Now we are flooded with atrocity after atrocity. It's not funny. It's not wholesome. I miss Obama too.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I liked the Biden ones, too.

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"I wish that I had been more objective at the time." Well... don't we all? I've always wanted to visit America. That hasn't been the case for many years now. A shame, really. Obama was one of the few people in the world I'd have loved to shake hands with.

5 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Kamala should have won

5 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

It feels so long ago that we had a President we weren’t ashamed of.

5 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I liked President Biden, but wish he had been elected earlier.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I liked Obama for what he was at that point in history, but even he wouldn't dismantle the AI surveillance apparatus that's currently being deployed in places like MN. The next POTUS has to make that commitment. We saw how fast Trump and Co slapped death camps together. Never again needs to be taken seriously.

5 months ago | Likes 135 Dislikes 15

Yeah, turns out you'll never have a fucking super hero, flawless, messiah. I'd say it's good you finally realized this, but I can tell you haven't learned anything, and you'll keep searching for salvation and throwing tantrums when elected officials turn out to be flawed humans just like you.

5 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The thing is, he wouldn't be giving corporate entities unbridled access either. The both-sidesism is harmful. As the OP commented "wish that I had been more objective at the time."

5 months ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 5

I didn't write the comment you replied to, but it doesn't look like a "both sides" argument to me. It looks like a "learn from the past and change the future" argument.

5 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

Fair enough. I did read it is that though, in context.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

This. It's crazy because anywhere else in the world, and Obama is centre right. I was saying expecting the right wing to protect you from the extremists on the right wing is the failing strategy that got things to this point.

5 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I'm not both-sidesisming shit. I'm saying that a middle-right candidate like Obama would never save you from a far right candidate. They are both ok with building the tools to oppress, so end of the day the more fascists side is going to end up with them.

5 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

Oh. That's spitting truth. Sorry for misreading it, though I'll leave it up in case more people read it that way

5 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Fair. If someone had said what I'm saying to you a decade ago I would have gotten a bit offended and ready to throw down too. My only regret in all of this, was not getting started sooner. They stole an election from Gore and no one got in trouble. Conspiracy hat says they stole from Hillary (they wipped a GA server before anyone looked at it in a county that won by a single vote) and there's indication they stole it from Kamala. They are going ot do it again even if they have to shoot to do it.

His drone strikes didn't miss.

5 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 17

lol - imgur has to hide comments like these because it spoils their nostalgia for a president they have invented.

5 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 11

From a president which first action was to get rid of all progressive movements who brought him there.

5 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Yeah, when he said he was calm and ready to drop bombs, loads of middle easterners got extremely nervous.

5 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

man...it really goes to show you how racist/sexist america really was that they chose to vote for fatass again over Harris/Walz. i still wish she would have picked Mark Kelly from AZ.

5 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

please use current and/or future tense, not past tense. america IS and will be racist.

America exposing its butthole 4 more years.

5 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

If Trump tries running a 3rd term, I'm hoping Obama runs too

5 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He had a good personality and 100% I'd pick him over Trump but he fucked us over by not using the full power of his office to shore up the republic agains the GOP. For example, he *CHOSE* not to leverage recess appointments out of what, some unrequited sense of decency? We should have had at least one more decent SCOTUS judge.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

*every 5 minutes for 15 fucking years non-stop.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No Obamas campaign of drone and night raid warfare that terrorized the citizens of Afghanistan went mostly unreported

I have a friend who was an army ranger and they abducted a lot of people from their homes at gunpoint in the dead of night

You ever see John Oliver’s reporting that kids in Afghanistan looked forward to cloudy days because there were fewer drones in the sky?

All under Obama, who also knew about the Epstein files

Just sayin

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

well I'm not sure about the REST of the world...a good chunk of the West perhaps

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He wasn’t what I consider a “good” president but he is a better man.

5 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 9

Biden got much more done in his time, but I would say a good president is one who at least improves things a bit while not embarrassing or destroying good things.

5 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

really what he did to bring this country back from almost economic disaster in 2008....come on now.

5 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

Seing something like this I come to think maybe President of the United States is simply not a "good" job to have. What would it really take? Maybe no matter how good of a person you want to be it's just bound to turn out shitty somehow in the end.

5 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don’t know why anyone would want it except to line your pockets.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'd imagine if you have been a politician for life over decades it's a very honerable goal. At the same time I'm sure after 4-6 years almost every potus was reliefed the US constitution has a 2 term limit for being president. Do you remember these before and after pictures showing Obama, Bush, Clinton? It's like they've been aging decades instead of years being in office.

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The countries he drone struck don't miss him, but I understand what you mean, Obama was 10000000 times better than the toddler currently in the white house.

5 months ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 9

He was the perfect establishment republican president.

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

I almost miss nuculer...nukaler...George W.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

His drone strikes were his answer to the generals and GOP officials that wouldn’t let him pull troops out. Biden said it was the single biggest failure of his career and I might agree if I knew all the details. Biden promised if he won he would remove the troops since his believers his son died from Burn Pit complications. I’m not excusing his behavior but the blame is shared for the entire staff he is just the fall guy

5 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

I'd say you cannot be "the perfect US president and never get your hands dirty". The job comes with that kind of baggage, always. Obama wasn't 'perfect' either, but compared to who the US has voted in right now, by all hells, he was better in every regard, INCLUDING drone strikes. Like, the strikes themselves are definitely a thing that can be discussed ad absurdum. But he didn't do so without consent from the senate, just as an aside. Or kidnap foreign dignitaries. Or rape kids. List goes on.

5 months ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

Key qualifier in there is US President, so thanks for including it. With US history in the 20th century it has to be next to impossible to be a president and not have some blood on your hands. Many other countries it's hard but not impossible.

5 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not that he was any good. He was still the president of the country fucking up everything domestic and foreign.

5 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 15

5 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

No he sucked ass too

Just like we shouldn't tolerate a king
We shouldn't tolerate a president or CEO

Anywhere on earth.

5 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 79

The downvotes are pretty telling that people don’t care that the drone strike president was gangster or they have no clue what he did

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 6

5 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Obama was pretty disastrous in the foreign policy sphere though he didn't annihilate US alliances. He normalized drone strikes on civilians. Not that he was remotely as bad as Trump. Don't think anyone since Raegan can hold a candle to Trump but Obama wasn't a great president, just a gifted speaker and not an abject monster.

5 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 15

I’m sorry.. what in the fuck are you blathering about

5 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

What part confuses you? Obama's foreign policy and the expansion of American imperialism coupled with the use of illegal drone strikes?

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 8

Are you arguing Trump is worse? I never said Obama was worse than Trump, I said neither was good. Obviously Trump is worse.

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

lol my argument is that..you dont know what you are talking about...

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How sad your life must be that you have to make yourself angry just so you dont accident feel joy. Its okay bro, you can relax and go for a walk, life is a spectrum and youre experiencing a miniscule fragment of it by choosing to eat your own shit

5 months ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 3

Honey every single idiot that thinks a boss or president should have any power over others? Is as dumb as a serf accepting a King is in charge instead of them

You're live could look like a vacation MOST of the time and instead you defend the civilization child abusers built. Grow up.
