Ha, of course that's a Finnish word. You're invading a finn's personal space if you get within a kilometer of their home.
Travelback
I live in the middle of forest in Finland and closest neighbour lives over kilometer away. And you are absolutely right about it!
SabonVous
what did you do about the guy that installed your internet, did you go out for the day?

Actually "Kalsarikännit" means, that you wake up, start drinking and don't put pants on at all. Usually having full day off from work.
EvanJones10
How do you properly say that? Now that I have a word for it I may as well use it

Well that was very helpful. Thank you. I know what I’m doing this weekend
I'm from Finland, personally i'm social drinker, so kalsarikännit isn't my thing. But drinkin at cottage in summer is pretty much same.
Just with friends, sauna and lake.
Basically same as on the op post, but the morning part is important part of it.
MrPatrizio
Does it even get warm in Finland?
Why Finnish summer is four seasons? Its too hot or too cold, and mosquitos
Ofcourse it does! It was a nice day

It’s a compound word. German does it too. You just combine normal words, it’s not like it’s built from scratch.
DomerPyle
I just asked if this was the case on another comment. Thanks for answering me ten minutes before I asked
jugvhjfddvbj
And kalsarinkadick means to sit at home drinking and try to balance a beer on your nob
Jack0d
That would be kännikyrpätasapainoilu, good sir.
Puolitettupuolituttu
*Kännikyrpätasapainottelu, since you're trying to balance the beer, not yourself.
Why not both though?
So Finnish is like German where they just put a bunch of words without spaces to make one big word?

Yes. Except Finnish is all about context and suffixes and you'll have to take them in account when making big words.

Kalsaarikanit means to stand naked in front of a box fan just after a shower

This picture isn't from finland. 1) i haven't ever seen these fans sold in finland. 2) The beer he has isn't finnish. 3) he looks too happy.

There are so many different models of fans in stores, and beer can be a foreign import. But the happiness, that definitely gives it away!

Two? WEEKS? What year was that?
Well the summer was nice this year, it was a nice tuesday indeed.
haadyy
And somehow, one year I ended up there in those two weeks and got sunburned. Didn't in my native sunny land, but did in Turku. XD
notsol337
Why have AC in Finland?
Because Westinghouse whipped Edison's ass.
Sipulikeitto
Nowadays we have one or two extra hot days per year, so we like to be prepared for that. Rest of the year is just darkness and snow.
I went to Turku in May, and it was actually pretty hot one day I was there.
MattGlade
Believe it or not but once in a year when sun briefly shows up, we might reach the whopping temperature of 40 F. Need AC for that
StSycho
You know it's summer when people complain about heat, winter when they complain about cold. If they complain about rain, any season works
DarkSock
It’s how they masturbate. Effective, but VERY messy finishes. True story.
But in bed we are nice guys, we finnish last.

In 2018 there was a heatwave for what, 2 weeks where temperatures ranged from 25-40°C and it was horrible. Couldn't do anything.
kahavi
Yup, got nearly hospitalised due to heatstroke that summer. Good times. Never again.
Helvetti sentään. Mun isän MS meni paljon pahemmaksi silloin kesällä ja tais sekin joutua sairaalaan viikoksi tai pariksi silloin.
Ai saatana, toi on kauheaa. :/ Mulla on krooninen aineenvaihduntasairaus, niin tommoset kuumat kelit ei oo yhtään mun juttu millään tasolla.
Ei ole kiva juttu tuo. Ilmalämpöpumppu on ollut parina viime kesänä ihan hyväksi osoittautunut sijoitus.
