#6 As it turns out, I’ve managed, once again, to become addicted to oxymetazoline at exactly the right moment, according to this study. Since I had a grandmother who lived to 110, I’m likely to survive for another 50 years.
Oh Joy.
SirsSir
I’m so happy to read these again!

I feel like the switching bulbs thing is already well known considering they sell bulbs specifically for the purpose of not attracting insects.
GreaseMonkeyOfLove
#5 we've known about this for almost as long as the light bulb has been around. https://www.feit.com/collections/bug-lights.

Yeah I really felt that I was misunderstanding the headline, and maybe I still am. But while I have no knowledge on the subject, it seems obvious to me that different wavelengths will attract different insects and to different degrees. Km surprised that's any sort of modern breakthrough like the rest of these
StarscreamAndHutch
6 great. Trimp will live forever on his overdosing of aspirin.

Ah, science-clickbait is back. How to reduce a complex topic to a single sentence that barely resembles the original research but sounds amazing...
Turkleturts
The alternative is that we don't get these weekly updates and people never know about the discoveries. I for one am fine with "clickbait" that lets people know about science, and perhaps gets them interested in it.
They provide the links too, so those who are interested in learning more can go check them out.
stronomer
There is literally zero substance in these headlines. So you learn nothing.

am I the only one bummed out by the lack of alien evidence so far? I know space is massive and we're tiny but.. :(

#1 You're killin' me, Smalls. I wanted it to be an observable Dysonsphere really bad.

#4 I've seen videos about 4. Cities that took over nearly the entire Amazon. Like, some were the size of New York iirc.
It's amazing to think that the Amazon we have today was once farmlands and cities that rival modern society in scale.

We are so small
notmyrealface
The Sahara desert used to be a jungle, when it died, the world air currents seeded the Amazon Jungle with the remnants of the Sahara Jungle. Who knows what that land looked like before that happened.
MADhouse64
And amazing how easily and quickly they were forgotten

We saw, in real time, nature start to reclaim our cities during covid. It only took a few weeks of low traffic for wildlife to move into cities.

#2, take with a grain of salt. “…because creatine helps generate adenosine triphosphate, which fuels cellular functions, it may contribute to tumor metastasis and invasion. Therefore, the oncology care team must carefully weigh the risks and benefits of creatine supplements.” - https://www.ons.org/publications-research/voice/news-views/01-2026/what-evidence-says-about-creatine-patients-cancer

Loool!!!

As someone in the mental health industry- these influencers are doing a lot of harm to so they can constantly make new content. When you turn “giving advice” into a job as a salesman for cherry picked products you start down a dark path. Especially if you are a “health influencer”
Be careful taking advice from people who are not professionals and anyone trying to sell you something.
Healthcare should be free in America, universal healthcare for all!

And always remember that you are only ever seeing what the influencer WANTS you to see. You are very rarely seeing the real them. See: Liver King
