Depends on how you wash your stuff. I rinse, wash, let the soap work and rinse again. Use a clean sponge with no sponge in the second wash.1

DW repairman said the detergent needs food particles to attach to. If there’s not enough dirt, the soap isn’t as effective. DW also 1/2
