No. There was a time, in the last decades, that voting system reforms should have been a primary focus, for both the politicians and the people. The Republicans were the ones making changes and have reaped the rewards. The opposition had their heads.... in the clouds. Nothing short of a national public movement (revolution sounds too violent for you, apparently) will "save" the former US.
"We've tried electing hard right politicians and we're all out of ideas," cry people who are being crushed by the economy and wonder why nothing ever gets better.
Establishment Dems would rather tear down democracy to keep the "radical left" out of power. Full stop. That will always be their choice. I hope I'm proven wrong in the coming days. But I have absolutely no faith in Schumer of Jefferies doing the right thing.
Because theyve been winning so much with their... Nothing to offer. Shit, their "Project 2029" offer is just more surveillance under the guise of Protecting Children.

"Who is going to finance their next campaigns? A grass root movement?"

No, they’d rather win the next election and not let Republicans romp for another eight years.
But you stick with your intra-party squabbles.Go on believing that progressives can win in general elections outside liberal areas.
That should help.
