"How many times does it have to be explained to you that it's antisemitic for the victims of a hate crime to defend themselves?" -Israel

Eye witness account (as seen from my balcony):
1) slurs against arab people (while walking past a mosque)
2) aggressiveness towards the police that were escorting them (idiots)

Other eye witnesses near the centre of Amsterdam:
1) pipes taken from buildingsite as weapons, wood from pallets taken as weapon
2) violence against arabs / muslims
3) burning of flags

All in all, they were the nazis their jewish ancestors fled from. So yeah, you are right asking questions goose..

Giving people a damn good reason to attack them.

So, two events occurred: Israeli football hooligans were arrested for rioting against Free Palestine supporters, while, days before their arrival in Amsterdam, Free Palestine supporters discussed on Telegram plans to chase down Israeli fans, asking random people for passports and threatening those identified as supporters. This is the timeline presented by the media, though Dutch authorities are still investigating.

One thing has become clear, however: the mayor of Amsterdam was woefully out of her depth—unfortunately, not for the first time. She allowed Free Palestine supporters to intimidate Jewish (not Israeli) attendees at the opening of a Holocaust museum. Later, during the October 7th remembrance, people walking to the memorial site in a no-vehicle zone were again intimidated and physically harassed by protesting Free Palestine supporters.

Events like this are how I gauge my media sources. The Guardian failed miserably as did most US news sources

Part of the problem is, if local media fail, then international media have few sources to rely on.

They didn't fail --- they did exactly what they were supposed to do. Which, as it turns out, isn't reporting the truth.

The Guardian's article says "The Amsterdam police chief, Peter Holla, said there had been “incidents on both sides”. A video on social media showed Maccabi fans setting off flares and chanting, “Olé, olé, let the IDF win, we will fuck the Arabs.” The police chief said a large crowd of Maccabi fans then gathered on Dam Square on Thursday lunchtime, where there were “fights on both sides”."

Yes! I used to have a paid subscription with them, until they sacked Steve bell, after 40yrs, over his satirical cartoon of Netanyahu operating on his own stomach, showing a cut in the outline of the Gaza Strip.

Yeah Dutch public broadcast stopped talking about that side pretty damn early but do point at the silliness of Israel reacting with two evac planes (that hadn't even been announced to Amsterdam) and act like there were no hospitals in The Netherlands for the handful of hooligans. Basically, violence sucks, hooligans suck, but now that the hooligans are from one criticised country and that country is a religious state, hate of hooligans is apparently difficult to distinguish from hate of Jews.

That is objectively false. NOS is constantly updating their reporting, including mentioning the misbehavior of the Maccabi fans. This includes the chants, physical violence and intimidation. https://nos.nl/artikel/2544021-maccabi-fans-hadden-planken-en-riemen-politie-neemt-beelden-mee-in-onderzoek

ah, good to see that update! I must admit I mostly base my sentiment on what I hear in the radio bulletins

I remember when that was used to put 5 innocent black teenagers behind bars. Which then prompted Trump to buy out a full page ad in the NYT calling for the death penalty.

they were being racist and beating Arabs and anyone they thought was Palestinian

They were watching a football game. And then walked in conveniently waiting pro-Palestine supporters who attacked them on livestream. Its very easy, you just fell for propaganda, and know you're an antisemite.

I'm of Jewish descent, but nice strawman. Also, it is on film that the racist far-right Zionists were singing racist chants and beating up Arab cab drivers BEFORE the Zionists got their asses handed to them

Jewish decent, so like the typical 0,2% on 23AndMe? You are American, and just helped a fascist Trump into office. William Stodden, lol. Have fun, and better don't get pregnant I guess.

Yawn, yes yes we know, everyone’s an antisemite.
