A compliment's a compliment. As an asexual man it's nice when a person comes up to me, bites their lip and tells me their friend thinks I'm cute... I say thank you, go home, and realize sometime in the next week that "Oh, they wanted to bang." then go about my life.
I'm not asexual, but I've been in my own world and gotten hit on a couple of times, only to blow it off and do the same thing. I'd be getting ready for work the next day and suddenly go..."wait, was that girl with the avocado at the store hitting on me? *rewind, replay...making doe eyes, swaying, smiling, complimented my shirt, then my hair, showed me her thigh tattoo...* Oh, damn, she was!"
To quote my doctor, from when I believed I was a broken human, "With your levels, I don't know why you aren't horny as fuck." Nope, it's literally just what I am.
Getting it back implies he had it and lost it. I've gone through "asexual phases" myself due to medication or some body chemistry issue, but most of those labeling themselves as asexuals (that I've known at least), have just never really felt the attraction at all. It's not something they had and lost.
It's good advice, but I think most people don't use the label unless it is something of a more permanent state of being.
I'm a hetero man. When a gay man hits on me I take it the same way I would if a woman that I wasn't into hit on me; no thanks, but my ego appreciated the boost.
I like this alot. As a 40yo straight man, i love being hit on by gay guys (happens more than with women, i think guys are just more forward in general, gay or straight, because of culture, I dunno) (or maybe i am more ugly to women). There is still so much toxic masculinity that I don't know how to combat. I can "cuddle" with my gay friends, but not with my straight ones, and i don't understand the reasoning. I am more comfortable being nonsexually physical with gay guys than straight ones.
And this remains true with male friends who are the same way. Like i could comfort a gay friend while my straight friend comforts another gay friend, but we could never do the same with each other. I don't know how to reconcile it, i don't really know what the sticking point is, and I'd love to figure it out. This is among lads who tell each other they love them all the time, and who don't shy away from emotions generally.
(Cue all the "you're actually bi/gay" comments, i promise you i am not. I have zero desire to interact with a dick, or anyone who presents male, in a sexual way. It does nothing at all for me. But i love my male friends and wish i could be there for them the way i can be with my female friends)
That's a fair question. IMO, it depends on the culture and also the fact that women are inherently weaker than men and therefore feel more threatened in general by compliments of that nature. There are charming and uncharming ways to do compliments like that regardless though.
I'm 5'11" and 170 lbs, and on my last leg day (Friday), I squatted 450 in my 3rd set for 15 reps. When i was a kid, my 10-speed got stuck in tenth speed and the gears stripped, so I was forced to get going from a stop, in thick wet grass, already in 10th gear. My transmission quickly turned into tree trunks. They aren't quite that big now but they've never forgotten what I put them through.
Not entirely on board with that comment. I had one that didn't take (a polite) "no" for an answer and it made me realise how friggin' frustrating it must be for women to have this happen. Probably on a regular basis whereas my experience was just a one off... :(
mmm, no' you're right,.. "always" was incorrect, I had a dude, fully skyclad, waggle his dick at me one time, when I was (politely), not into it, he just started negging me, like I was being the asshole... shoud've knocked him out, but.. like... who wants to fight a horny naked stranger?...

Is that sexual harassment? What is a man said that to a woman? Is that respectful?
Fendeezy
The keyword in that is "harassment". If the person was offended then yes, it would be. But in this scenario it was taken as a compliment.

IF I HIT ON ANOTHER STRAIGHT GUY, SO HELP ME...
Isthe4thtimethecharm
It has honestly made me wish I was gay. I am in no way attracted to men. But if women were as forward as gay men, my dating life would be better.

Dude, you’re 170 pounds and squatting 450 15 times? I find that extremely difficult to believe. This almost comes off as a bad joke.

Well it's just sexual harassment at that point.

felt a bit like assault... like, I'm a big enough guy, 6' 180#s, it definitely shifted my perspective,
wobblecopterrrr
what that must be like for a much smaller girl..
