Winning 45-year lows.

WINNING!!!1ONE

The extra fun part is that the reserves don't need to be EMPTY for the situation to be apocalyptic. We literally can't use the last bit of petroleum in there because it's too thick and sludgey. Once you also consider the fact that it's going to take a month to get oil across the ocean to the refineries, the time to start panicking is.... Last week

I'm willing to pay more for gas at least until November. It probably needs to go up to $5 a gallon right before election day.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just had a gas station jump prices 30-40 cents in 1 day. So much winning.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is fine.

And they are selling it off to other counties and profiting off of it.

1 week ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

That's in June. It's lower now. I hope it keeps crashing.

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Is that including the Venezuelan oil reserves Trump stole?

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

So looking at this graph, we have like... A couple months before it's empty if they keep going, huh? Then the prices skyrocket. Are they hoping to outlast the primaries? Because gas is already climbing again here.

His signature is getting worse.

There go the gas prices!

When was that first drop? I'm guessing either at the end of Trump's first admin or during the Afghanistan fiasco (signed by we-all-know-who so that his successor had to deal with it)

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

From the thumbnail I thought it was Trump's signature

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In a way it is.

"it's for emergencies, like war, not to keep the prices low before an election." - trump in 2024 being stupid

"I started a stupid war and invaded our strategic reserve to keep gas prices low-ish to hide how stupid this war is and how bad I fucked up. THANK YOU FOR NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!" -DJT

It's especially fun when you remember that his ongoing war didn't just create the problem, it's actively draining our own supply. High performance jet aircraft burn a lot of fuel. And when I say a lot, I mean like a single F-35 attack plane burns several thousand gallons per hour of flight time. Plus the added energy demands from the defense sector trying to replace expended weapons because Dipshit doesn't understand limited ammunition.

That old Native American quote about daylight savings time seems applicable here, too.

"Only a white man would believe you could cut a foot off the top of a blanket, sew it onto the bottom of the blanket, and you'd be left with a longer blanket."

interesting. now i know two native american quotes. thank you sir for the knowledge.

Thanks to share their wisdom ! I always appreciate it !

Remember when Republicans weren’t outraged because Biden did a single release from the reserves?

Pepperidge Farm remembers.

So how long till capitalist oil rationing

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They attacked Iran without replenishing the Strategic Oil Reserve first.

1 week ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Because Epstein file were trending the news at the time.

1 week ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Because they thought they could get all the oil they'd ever want from Venezuela. It's not a coincidence they went in and knocked over the government there first.

1 week ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

And it didn't help how 'easy' it was in Venezuela. Enforced the confidence of those who only know slogans that Iran isn't us, and therefore would be the same

1 week ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yep. If Venezuela hadn't rolled over to the degree they did, I doubt he'd have felt free to tangle with Iran.

1 week ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The initial drop was when Joe Biden and Boris Johnson (I think he was UK PM at the time) released reserves into the market to fight inflation. That last drop is probably a pre-election ploy by Trump to help Republicans. Anyway, if they use up all the oil and deploy troops to Iran, they will be weakened when they try to defend the coup coming up. They will surely either tamper with or outright ignore election results. Let's see what happens...

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's not just one ploy. Trump has been dumping the Strategic Petroleum Reserve pretty much continuously since attacking Iran to try and keep the market from going nuts.

That said, this isn't just the SPR. It's ALL oil inventory in the US, including private stocks... which are also depleted because one fifth of the planetary oil supply has been cut off, and we're dipping into reserves to keep the system running and people alive.

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

According to that chart, it looks like it has stayed pretty constant until this year, so it could be mostly to offset the effects of the Iran fiasco for us domestically. Gas prices seem to go up anyways. The Strait of Hormuz and Russia... and people still want to be reliant on oil? Stupidity!

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He's been dumping it on the market to try and hide how bad he screwed up. By the time the bill comes due, someone else will be in office so they can blame them.

1 week ago | Likes 168 Dislikes 1

Actually, this means refineries are very short of inputs to make gas, so prices for gasoline will be rising sharoly as inventory gets tight.

This is a consequence of exhausting the strategic petroleum reserve.

Just like Trump has depleted our strategic weapons reserve

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Probably pocketing the money from selling it or at the very least selling it to the big companies at a huge discount and getting a kickback from them…

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I think this time the bill will come due while he's still in office, because he - and his toadies - have no intention of ever leaving the White House. They've built out the surveillance and concentration camp structure, and have made clear by the services they've eliminated that they do not gaf about Americans or anyone else.

1 week ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

LOL no. Not even close. We're probably only months away from a serious economic crash.

1 week ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

months? my (probably paranoid and definitly very pessimistic) ass wakes up every day like "So is this the day trump does the biggest of big fuck ups and ends the world/ kills the economy"

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They don’t need to wait. They already been blaming Obama.

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And the country will go along with it. There's nothing a Republican can do that the US won't blame a Democrat for. Remember Roe? Republicans overturned it, Trump bragged about doing it, and the public immediately turned and blamed Dems for "not codifying it" into a law that the Supreme Court would have overturned anyway because that's literally their job. Democrats are the sin eaters of American politics.

1 week ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Yeh and they need to stop playing that role before it ruins us all. Time for democrats to grow a spine, the ones who are not compromised by PAC money from wealthy private interests and corporations who are treated like people except apparently for when it comes to paying taxes at a rate of almost 30% or being held accountable for crimes like murder.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Way to miss the point.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He's been doing everything he can to deliberately weaken the us.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Gonna suck if someone attacks us or cuts off our supply and we end up with 3 day long lines like Russia

1 week ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

Well Russia is not going to attack you, they already own your president.

1 week ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yeah, and it's not like you have so many friends with oil to spare anymore...

1 week ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Gas isn't what you have to worry about most in that case, it's other stuff. The US produces more than enough oil to supply our demand for gas. Even though our refineries are mostly geared for heavy crude instead of our own light crude--long story--we can make gas. What we don't produce nearly enough of is stuff like chemical feedstocks, diesel, and ammonium nitrate. That means anything made using plastic, anything hauled by a truck, and anything grown using fertilizer is in trouble.
