I did the English subtitles. I heard "Gochendo" (Having fun) but in Spain they use "Gochear" to mean they are looking for good food and drinks... which I don't think is an actual recognized word? https://dle.rae.es/goxe
I’d love to see more metal plates being used as delivery for burgers. Take out fine, but if you’re stopping in for a burger these elaborate packages add nothing to the meal.
While I don't see this as a "great for partying" container, it certainly is the best street stall setup I've ever seen.
The temp transfer isn't really a thing that bothers me. Heat rises and would take a while for the drink or hot food to affect each other. This isnt exactly food you take an hour to eat.
I would add a lid to stop salt and seasonings from getting in my drink.
As far as "To-Go/Walk and Eat" arrangements go, this is pretty damn brilliant.
Agreed. One hand operation, works for me. Except I tend to eat the fries first, so I'd want the sandwich (maybe wrapped in paper) on the bottom, and the fries on top.
Indeed. It's not perfect, but defo my favorite one I've seen yet.
I'm sure they'd layer it in that order if you asked them.
Tried to find a picture, but I did see one that had more of a tray sitting over the drink, but it was really wide and made it had to get to the straw. Long hair would be all in the food.
There's a place in a small town in Colorado that sells only french fries. The menu only offers all the different dipping sauces. The fries come in this kind of a cone, huge portions, hot and salty. Brilliant concept, best fries ever.
My Grandfather actually designed something similar back in 1963, he showed it to the people at McDonalds to see if they were interested in buying it and they simply laughed in his face. Then, years later, my Grandfather visited the Bronx zoo and had his knackers ripped off by an escaped gorilla.
I was thinking more about all the little crumbles: fry bits, salt, chicken breading or bun bits(sesame seed, breadcrumbs). I didn't even consider the wets
But also simple things like this will get redisgned so you don't make a dime. But don't doubt there will be some money to be made by the manufacturers.
30 years in the fiberboard packaging business and I can tell you the only rich people are Sales and CEOs. They create nothing and keep all the profits.
Can you name an example? I seems like I'd believe, I just can't remember something as established as a burger combo disrupt a market by being repackaged (why TF am I thinking about tide pods now...)
Gotcha. Yea some good examples already listed, but more than just unique package DESIGNS aside, theres currently lots of innovation and profiting from real time onsite custom packaging solutions. Companies make machines now that can make a custom box for a client right on site. They make a killing selling these machines.... and then of course supplying the raw materials necessary to keep them going. $$$ everywhere in packaging.
I couldn't get a good look but I thinkit has a space between the top of the cup and bottom of the food or an "air pocket" which would help insulate the two. air does a pretty good job as an insulator. whats really going to make your drink warm his your hand and the sun shinning on it. I like the concept and hate those flimsy square cardboard boxes. I'd like to see it after a heap of greasy fries and a burger have been sitting on it for five minutes though.
No. Heat rises, & cold sinks. The drink stays cold cuz it's on the bottom. The food stays hot because it's not under the cold drink. Simple & effective. The physics all check.
Yes, if you're looking at two completely separate systems. However due to the cardboard, there's a physical medium between them so the heat is going to be transferred.
Yes, until the cardboard is saturated with oil from your fries dripping down into your drink down below. So not only is your oily cardboard going to act as a heating source not an insulator, you're now going to have wet nasty cardboard and oily cardboard right next to each other
No. Heat rises, & cold sinks. The drink stays cold cuz it's on the bottom. The food stays hot because it's not under the cold drink. Simple & effective. The physics all check.
There's a piece of cardboard and an effectively insulated pocket of air between the drink and the food, the difference in convection rate going up or down is almost irrelevant here
Correct. Not to mention, both hot & cold items diminish in mass as they're consumed (which is the point of separating them in the first place), which also mitigates their respective transference rates to a diminishing curve rather than a constant.
It's not gonna be perfect temperature isolation, but for mobile street food and drink, this is an economical and mobile f**king good idea. Why is pizza such good street food? Mobility (plus taste / price point). This should be done worldwide. Damn good idea.
Sorry but your physics does not check out. "Heat rises and cold sinks" applies to convection (e.g. air in a room, water in a boiler), but it is only one mode of heat transfer out of three. The other two, conduction (e.g. heat spreading along a metal bar) and radiation (e.g. heat we receive from the sun) do not care about such a rule. Heat is transferred from a hot body to a cold body (in this instance, from the fries towards the drink).
Radiant heat transference is still limited by the cardboard insulation. In the time it takes to consume the hot food and the cold drink, the transference rate is negligible. Were their positions reversed, and the entire package left untouched for an hour, temperature equilibrium would be reached, but again, the amount of time allotted for that to occur is a key element in this equation as well as relative position and insulation between the 2 thermal units.
If you put hot food below a cold drink it'll equalise much faster, because with cardboard and air in between heat transfer by conduction and radiation will be low.
The food will radiate heat in all directions. Not just up. If you put your hand beneath a hot coal, you will still feel the heat coming off of it. This contraption is better than having the food beneath the drink but, yes, the hot food will cause the drink to warm.
It's minimal unless it's in very close proximity. There's a cardboard barrier and an air gap between the drink and the food. Your hand around the cup itself would heat it up more with direct transference.
For example, you can get your fingers awfully close to the side of a candle's flame for some time without getting burned. But just a second or two at the same distance above it will burn you.
A hot coal? Get real. A hot coal radiates a whole lot more heat than an order of fries, which you can hold in your hands. Admit it, you're just arguing for the sake of argument. The physics still check. Your hand will warm the drink a whole lot faster than any hot food separated from it by a layer of cardboard and positioned above it will.
Homie, have you ever put a pizza box on your lap while in transit. Did you feel the hot pizza on your lap? The heat will also travel to the beverage because they’re touching (conduction?)
You mean a pizza that just came out of a 500º oven? No. That goes on the floor so it doesn't have any further to fall when I slam on the brakes (btdt). But I will eat the hot fries while I'm pulling out of the parking lot of the drive-thru without burning my fingers or the roof of my mouth (unlike the pizza). Were you implying they're the same temperature, mass, or cooling rate as a pizza box sitting directly on my lap? A large pizza is at least 40 times the mass of some loose fries, homie.
No heat diffuses from areas of high heat to areas of low heat. If you doubt this hold a metal rod upright with bare hands and heat the top of the rod with a blow torch and see if the bottom of the rod remains cold. Source: high school physics.
That's direct conduction. Completely different kind of heat transference. You need to take a few more science classes. We're talking about convection here, not conduction.
Perhaps reread your own comment where you rather boldly state that 'heat rises, & cold sinks'. You want to make scientific statements? Be less ambiguous in the language you use.
Keeping it simple. The metal rod/ blowtorch model is completely different (in both scale and transference type) than two food products separated from each other by an insulation layer of cardboard. When did the fries equal the heat of a blowtorch? Jeez dude. Maybe switch to decaf.
