This coronal hole is pretty large and located right at the solar equator which means the solar wind stream will likely have a significant influence on the solar wind environment around our planet. Moderate G2 geomagnetic storm conditions (Kp6) are possible when the CIR (bunched up solar wind structure ahead of the high speed solar wind stream) arrives which will likely occur on Friday (15 May). The NOAA SWPC has also issued a G2 watch for this date. Should be a good aurora show for those in the southern hemisphere or those not plagued by the midnight sun in the nothern hemisphere. When it comes to solar flares and sunspot regions things are sort of quiet. There are no noteworthy sunspot regions currently on the solar disk really worth mentioning. There is only a low chance of M-class activity in the next 24 hours.

However I do think that the increased focus on solar activity is a right wing attempt to frighten people into thinking this is biblical apocalypse so that we sacrifice what little privacy we have left.

That "opening" is just plasma that's not quite as hot as the plasma around it, and isn't an actual hole in the sun.
These are pretty regular occurrences, and not something we need to be worried about.
They are, however, the result of large solar flares and coronal mass ejections, and we only need to worry about the ones that are aimed at us.

Vivid dreams hell yeah. Had me wondering.
For years I didn't remember my dreams. I attribute that to my addictions to weed & alcohol because they very noticeably returned to the front of my mind upon waking about 3weeks after I quit weed (I'd already been alcohol free several months).
But last night my dreams were full color 3D surround-sound & today I dozed off briefly for awhile when I was doing some reading after lunch and met people from my past I hadn't remembered for years.
Weird, man.

I’ve had long, intense, clear and memorable dreams almost every night for about a week now. Also, bad pressure/sinus headaches and my ears ringing extremely loud (I always have tinnitus but I’ve had to play music this week to distract me!)
Interesting that it could be sunspot related. Weird indeed.

Scientist here. I don't want to alarm anyone, but the Sun appears to have disappeared entirely. Like it's not in the sky at all. There's like a weird little Sun but it's only a tiny sliver? I think it's safe to say we're all going g to die.

All kidding aside, one of our "philosophy" classes asked "can you prove the sun will rise tomorrow?" and the whole point of the exercise was that no we can't from experience.
