For example 踝 (knee) and 曉 (dawn or knowing, like in being "enlightened") look like the same but the 2nd one would be more probable.

I don't speak Chinese, so I'm having to come at it from Japanese, which makes for some guessing (for example "湯" means "hot water" in Japanese, which seems like something that could feasibly mean "soup" in Chinese). But everything I've seen her say in videos like this one has at least seemed reasonable given my limitations.

You are right. I'm Japanese and we imported Chinese letters 1200 years ago and many letters have similar meaning but not the same nowadays. I can understand many of them in the video but don't mean quite the same like you say. Thanks for the comment!
