So a democrat WHO CO-SPONSORED THE FUCKING BILL, ended up being the deciding vote AGAINST IT.
https://www.commondreams.org/news/jared-golden-iran-war
If you haven’t heard of the rotating villain theory. You should look it up.
unluckyandbored
With "friends" like these, who needs enemies?
Subwayfootlong3
Golden, you say? Hmmm...🤔
Telemapus
Aussie here. Yesterday it was all about Fetterman voting with the GOP. Now it's this guy, a guy I've never heard of before. "Rotating villain" barely seems to cover it.
alloutofmondays
Someone check his finances.
SnorHEEdenRAden
"Us passing this bill as a cohesive body, meant to represent the actual will of the people. has no real meaning since it only aims to put limits on something that, while we should have already addressed, has already been happening....I hope you appreciate this totally sound logic."
Rascael
got a bribe or a guaranteed private sector gig from conservatives...
StellarJay77
More like threatened to expose his pedophilia.
TheDoctorCrankenstein
"not seeking re-election". Yup, he was chosen as the fall guy.
Spend a few months lying to the base, feeding them sweet promises and strongly worded letters. Yet every time, like clockwork, it comes to nut up there is always a patsy ready to ensure nothing actually happens.
Something something "controlled opposition" something something.
ItsACrazyWorld
How many times do I have to tell you dumbshits. Democrats. Are. Not. On. Your. Side. Most of them are closet gop. Its all part of the same rotten system. You are all fucking naive thinking the midterms will fix everything and that democrats will save us. You guys are just as dumb as the fucking magas.

Rotating Villain aspect of Controlled Opposition

“Golden defended his vote against the resolution by saying, ‘unfortunately its proposed 30-day deadline lacks any real meaning now that we are more than 70 days into this conflict.’”
*coughcoughbullshitcough*
FlemReid
well... Fuck that guy.
TacoPoweredHelicopter
Blame him sure, but if it was not him the democrats would have found someone else to take the fall on it. Somehow on all these close votes there is just enough Democats that cross..
seehemewe
Fuck the 211 Republicans as well. Yes Golden is the only Dem to vote to block, but he wasn't the only person to cast that vote.
TheDiscoVampire
They are all complicit.
InfocalypseRising
And yet you'll still get brigaded if you suggest the Democrats are not coming to the rescue
tachyx
When you live in the US and come to the rescue without bringing any guns.
DSREX
SCOTUS uses rotating villains with their super majority. Or rather the rotating hero, a faux oppositional approach.
So instead of a 6/3 ruling one will join the liberals and make it 5/4. It still went their way but they can feign discourse.
It is the same logic you are point at with the House, the Senate does it all the fucking time. Damn filibuster rules.
Ritawho
Pardonmygarlicfarts
Always enough Democrats to help the Republican agenda, never enough Democrats for their own
OriginalAndWitty
"Lone democrat", didn't Fetterman also do the same thing? Hard to call that dude 'democrat' at this point but he's like 50/50... which is better than actual republicans I guess. Or is this a new vote?
Daliena06
Golden is in the House of Representatives, Fetterman is in the Senate. Two chambers of Congress, with two votes, and two convenient little traitors.
Bojovnik84
Here comes that sweet bloody AIPAC money. Israel is putting money in those who will not get reelected to keep the war going. I wonder if China spaked Trump enough over their knee to put an end to Israel's lust for genocide.
backrideup9
Theyre all just in a back room laughing their asses off at us. 'Hey man, write this bill that has no chance in hell to pass, we'll tell a couple Rs to go ahead and vote for it, but then get this, you vote no to break the tie and blow up the whole thing. Here's a paper bag full of money. This is going to be hilarious. '

This kind of stuff should automatically give anyone that voted for you the legal right to sue you for your entire net worth.
mimst
uh, plus damages
funone77
Its because at least part of the democratic party isn't in the democratic party. Their complicit with the republican party and their corporate interests....
Some statistics on this "phenomenon" for those interested.
https://rotatingvillains.org/
etherbunny41
At least part = most
rfleming1080
This is why you can't vote blue no matter who. Corporate dems need to be removed as well.
etherbunny41
This is why Americans need to be protesting and burning down government buildings. Remind them all who they work for, and what happens when they stop giving a shit.
SomeDetroitGuy
The primaries are where you get rid of the corporate dems. In general elections, even the biggest asshole corporate dem is better than the best Republican.
18booma
Yip. Americans are in primary season right now. So time to get out there and raise awareness of the best candidates available. Now is not a time for lesser-evilism.
AyatollahBahloni
This makes no sense at all. It's like Manchin and Sinema resurrected. Yes, I looked up the rotating villain theory but I don't know if this applies here.
mrthewhitee
Neither of the dem leaders have actually denounced the war in any way. They've only complained that Trump is "doing it wrong". Never once said it should never have happened or that they would not have allowed it to happen if they were in power.
Comet260
I wonder how much money those Dems get from the MIC.
JustAPileOfCats
They wanted the war as much as anyone in government, because they're Zios, and they're being paid big money by that lobby. They never wanted to oppose it, else they'd have whipped the party and base into an anti-war fervor themselves, so they're going through the motions and opposing it on procedural grounds only.
Necrothean
Weird how this "mistake" is always made by "a Democratic party member that is not seeking reelection" or "not up for reelection this cycle". Constantly. Like it's planned that specific, untouchable members will do this. But planned by who? If only we could figure out that...
It's the DNC. It's always been the DNC. It will always be the DNC. The very heart of the party, the people who approve whether a candidate can be primaried and by whom. What's that adage about "rotten apples" and "barrels"
UnhelpfulAnswers
There will ALWAYS be juuuuust the right number of defectors in the dems. The dem party as a whole is not as opposed to repubs as people seem to think. The dems who are truly opposed will either be bought out or heavily opposed by the rest of the dem party. See the opposition from the dems to Sanders, AOC and Mamdani
somerandomusernamething
It's not really a conspiracy, it's just that the rich can buy votes and they always buy just enough to make sure what they want happens. Find the number of people on the other side with the cheapest buyout price, pay it and get the legislation you want. What a fun form of government.
Comet260
I'm glad Mamdani won.
ImJustHereAtThisPoint
Samantha4u
I've said this time and time again but I get downvoted to hell, lol.
ProjectDA
the big issue i feel is most here veiw it as left (dems) vs right (GOP). when its really center right (dems) vs far right (GOP). the majority of dems are center right or a bit into the right. very few are true center. once you realize this and see it. you see why this happens. ill sometimes call these center right republican lite. they cant make it as a repub so they join the dems.
rossimus
What do you call it when Republicans side with Democrats to block the SAVE act? Are those Republicans "complicit" by siding with Democrats or is it only villainous when it goes the other way?
BorkasonBork
Well yes the corporate donations go to both sides.
Khanamana324
Bribes, not donations.
11Weasel11
Hmmm.
QuantumInc
Unfortunately the people I saw posting that in 2020 and 2024 are the ones who refused to vote for either party. Even then not entirely accurate. Democrats often follow Republicans to the right. A few of them are genuinely right wing or left wing. A lot of them do not really care about "left vs right" they just want their corporate friends to keep donating.
NotSomoneElse68
I still remember Chuck Scummer's "I'm soooo against ending the shutdown" he made when the strategic Democratic Senators voted to end it. Like he had nothing to do with it and we all believed that "he really really is against ending the shutdown guys, c'mon you guys, you gotta believe me."
SomeDetroitGuy
Found the Trumper! Fuck off with this bullshit. Just fuck ALL the way off. Assholes like you do more to keep Trump in power than every red hat combined.
worm61
It is *astoundingly* stupid to say that expressing frustration with the Democrats’ failure to meaningfully oppose Trump is the same as supporting him. It is very much the opposite.
ThingsThatDontJustifyGenocide
Under a post where the man who pushed for the vote in the first place turned against it and broke the tie in favor of fascism, and that man is registered as a democrat, you think a meme about how democrats aid republicans is Trumpist?
Dude.
Fucking think.
Chilichunks
Thinking that their comment makes them a "Trumper" makes you look very, very stupid. Your reading comprehension is dogshit my guy.
TheDoctorCrankenstein
Found the idiot centrist who lives where their head in the fucking sand.
Wake the fuck up, you fucking moron.
pgdave
This is the problem with having a big tent party. The party is not ideologically pure, which means that there will be some party members who are notably farther to both the left and the right than the average. Since there's another right wing party, that means we'll occasionally see them vote together. We need both the democrats to have a majority *and* for that majority to be big enough that the farthest right wing members aren't the most powerful ones.
UpNorthAndFreezing
A lot of people have said this over the years and they've been lambasted for saying it but I believe it rings true.. .. "the Democrats are just as bad as the Republicans"
SomeDetroitGuy
We get it, we get it! You fucking LOVE Trump. Love that orange shit-stain and absolutely LOVE shitting on anyone and everyone who stands up to him.
worm61

Mgxr44
Eyyyyuuuup. They’re just sneakier about it. The amount of damage they do occupying the space of the “left” wing party while being in lock step most of the time with the Republicans is utterly devastating to the working class
etherbunny41
They're not AS bad, they're just the enablers to the abusers. Republicans hate you, Democrats don't care about you. The only reason they're the better option is because they're not *actively* trying to kill you.
DavosSeaworthTheOnionKnight
...because ONE democrat did the same thing as ALL of the Republicans? How does that make sense at all. Like, even if you believe they are equally bad, it makes no sense for this post. I assume you agree with the GOP or Democrats here, so a statement of "They are both bad" makes literally zero sense
Mgxr44
So the rotating villain theory suggests that there’s always just as many democrats as needed to block progress. As we see here, and time and time again. It’s also always democrats who either aren’t seeking reelection or aren’t up the next cycle. As is the case here.
UpNorthAndFreezing
Ohhh.. you apparently haven't been paying attention. "One" democrat you say? How about either one or two Democrats whenever there is a vote of any consequence being held. The republicunts always win the vote because .. anybody?.. anybody? Because there is ALWAYS one or two Democrats that break ranks and vote with Republicans. Hell @op even wrote it in plain black and white for you and you still missed it.
SomeDetroitGuy
Oh, we're paying attention. You're pushing pro-Trump propaganda. We get it. You love him.
UpNorthAndFreezing
Ya.. I'm pro trump.. 2 mins of looking at my post/comment history would prove otherwise.. troll elsewhere
Freyja33
This is on the whole party. Exactly enough Democrats always defect at the last minute. It's so they can look like they're doing something to oppose this even when they don't want to. The guy co-sponsored the bill, he's not a rando. This was planned.
badbuddhist
MAGA loves this comment

Yup, they pick someone not running for re-election to be the sacrificial lamb because they have nothing to lose.

we need to make caning representatives/senators a thing again

Why fix it now and not have it as an issue in November?
punjabberwock
Yup. Send in the non-re-election-seeking sacrificial lamb…. Again 🫠

The Democrats look more and more like a "controlled opposition" party.
Harbltron
Look like?
indyliberal
The Washington Generals to the GOP’s Harlem Globetrotters.
Imademyselfsquirtle
No. It's not. He is a Fetterman. Was always Republican.
Fentex
It's soroutine it's obviously the case, the U.S does not have competing parties, it has one oligarchy. Absolutely needs to replace their political system.
Freyja33
The United States is also a one-party state but, with typical American extravagance, they have two of them.
- Julius Nyerere
UnicornsToxicRainbowFart
It's always planned. Same thing with manchin, same with sinema, so many times, same with fetterman. This is why I never trust the dnc. Like, how am I expected to trust this party? We need representatives *of the people* and we need to get rid of schumer
thinkybrainpains
Now do susan Collins.

If you live in Maine, vote Platner.
Anaphriel
Some people wanna enrich themselves while acting like they're good people, others don't care if they look like bad people.
RaekinTheBored
Lest we forget about Lieberman during Obama’s presidency too. Corporate Dems are just controlled opposition and there are a lot of them. Time to primary them out in favor of true progressives.
UnicornsToxicRainbowFart
If the dnc will allow it
TheBigBadBonerBiter
Primaries are well underway and have already happened in some states. Are you registered to vote for your state? Have you looked at the candidates to see who you like the most/hate the least? Did your state's primary.date pass you by unknowingly?
UnicornsToxicRainbowFart
All gud questions, I'm well informed 👍
Camelspotting
I mean, you could just take the tinfoil hat off.
worm61
Automatically disbelieving clear patterns of behavior without further examination is actually a lot closer to the thinking of conspiracy theorists than pointing out those patterns.
Camelspotting
Everyone sees the behavior, it's the nonsensical explaination for it that's the issue.
WynnieFreeze
Once it's just a thing. Twice is a coincidence. Three could honestly still be pretty tin foil hatty to think there's something up. When it happens over and over and over again like clockwork, it's actually more tin foil hatty to deny the evidence
AndroidSoul
Wasn't too long ago that implying the democratic party talks a good game but basically never puts up when it counts would get you rolled on here, but now that the takeover is happening their convenient incompetence and defection seems a lot more significant
Camelspotting
The evidence that the Senate was specifically made so that rural states would have outsized power? Yeah we all know that.
WynnieFreeze
Banana blue cable hope various.
I too can say words that have nothing to do with the previous comment.
