Video is from AccuWeather.
When I was a kid, I used to have a recurring nightmare about a slow moving but huge tsunami wave coming in from the horizon, despite us living hundreds of miles from the ocean.
I realize this is just wind pushing a bunch of clouds, but it is exactly what that recurring nightmare looked like. And now I'm curious what happens when that... front? passes over the observer with the camera.
daianaaaa
Those houses and lawns are a recurring nightmare I used to have. Somehow a fear of that life has gotten so ingrained I am still thinking of it whenever I think of commitment

Bigger nightmare is living in a place that looks like this. Uber suburbia, yikes.
bobtheaxolotl
Looks scary, but those are just scud clouds. They hang low, but don't turn into tornadoes or anything.
LateNightBunnyParty
Fun fact: scud clouds are etymologically linked to animals like deer and rabbits, who have scut tails. They're both words that indicate something small, white, and fast!
Also I get the feeling you're either a fellow Okie or from a state over.
bobtheaxolotl
I've lived in eight different states, but not Oklahoma. Currently living in NJ, but I did live in Missouri for a while. It's southwest corner just touches Oklahoma. So I guess that counts as a state over.

It looks like a giant tsunami to me too. First thing that popped into my mind.
TheRoyalDong
That's not what a tsunami looks like. It looks like a big wave.
Comet260
Go away, Redditor.
TheRoyalDong
A tsunami is not a big wave and does not look like in the video. Movies lied to you. Educate yourselves, ignorant fucks..

The end, with the tornadoes, oily rain, and sea pulling back as a monster wave approaches, is chilling.

From the movie Take Shelter, which you may enjoy, or possibly fear.
incendras
Better than a giant ass skeleton on the horizon behind your moms car and you're on an endless bridge and it's throwing all the cars into the ocean and catching up to you so you think you should get out of the car but the bridge is made of that slatted plastic they use for poolside sunbathing daybeds and your afraid you would fall through.
PoorBoyChevelle
Same nightmare, but I was like, early 20s. Shook me a while. Not because it was scary, but because I wasn't scared. The inevitably overwhelmed. There would be no raging against the dying of the light, not spiteful last stand. I'd never really considered I might go peacefully before that.

We live at the bottom of an enormous ocean. It's just air instead of water. Most of the time.
Tomigami
With all due respect...fucking USED TO? I still have that dream so vividly I'm not positive this isn't it (hint: very stone, much drink, incredibly friday)
mindstorm8191
Nightmares about storms are the worst.
I remember as a kid having a nightmare about a storm, already over our house. Looking outside it looked like a soapy puddle, with the colors swirled through it (and I normally dream in black & white).
But you couldn't look at it. If you did, it would come and try to get you, and hurt you. You had to stay away from the windows or it would see you.
TheMoonBnuuy
If it's a monster in a nightmare, I kick its fucking ass.
If it's a lightning storm... I can't be within line of sight of the sky or the lightning comes for me. Since most rooms have exterior windows, the safest place is often directly under the window to minimize exposure to line of sight with the sky... except... all the windows have an electric socket directly under them... so it's usually hard to find some place to truly evade the lightning.
slopwizard
This looks exactly like a reoccurring nightmare I'm about to start having
TripUpStairs
@op I have that same recurring nightmare. I wonder what it means. Once I had kids, they were in it too.
whodathunkit
I do too! And same with the kids, my kids are now in and it's like ....wth why am I still having these dreams?!
tidepool
How close are y’all to the ocean because maybe that’s why? I grew up landlocked so I had no fear of the ocean attacking. It was a mythical place of existence like Mars or England. I know it exists but I never saw it so what’s to be scared of? But if you grew up landlocked and still feared the ocean then idk maybe in your last life you were deeply connected to the ocean.
MetaByte
There are prophecies that predict that the poles will reverse and tilt our axis to an equatorial equilibrium, where exactly that happens.
iWantedAcoolNameButTheyOnlyHadThisOne
Crazy! I had this dream for years, too, as a kid. It eventually went away
boostcreep
Yep me too. Copycat houses, identical short grass lawns with sparsely spaced trees, definitely an HOA keeping those rules in check. *shudders*
HaluumTheMad
looks more like a 'recently' occupied subdivision of cookie cutter mass built houses that hasn't had time to grow things or diversify yet. Got a lot of those here in the states sadly.

I still feel sad about the Queen, who had been exploited but was still true and devout to their legacy and duty, only to get caught up in the wave as she made her way to safety.

Well that's what you get for using a gun in the apocalypse anyway what makes you think there's going to be bullet flying around everywhere you've obviously been playing way too many video games bladed weapons are the way to go
imnotinthewitnessprotectionprogram
Incorrect, for consistency a bludgeoning weapon is the right pick
TheDirtySanchezBros
Wrong, what you really need are hand crafted artisanal kool-aid “cocktails” so you don’t have to watch your loved ones get raped and murdered before you yourself are murdered.
DragonThunderUndertaking
Just to be clear here, how many kool-aid 'doses' are you suggesting in this scenario?

I had heard that this ending was very different from King's original short story, so I read it and can honestly say this is one of the rare instances in which I prefer the movie over the written story.
(The ending was in fact very different; King left it completely open ended. Not bad but also not satisfying.)
JustSomePersonThere
Hey man just how in the FUCK did that guy kill his cinematographer? Like, who or WHY would you EVER put real bullets in a prop gun?
threepotatoesinatrenchcoat
Wait... what?
HashMaster9k
Are you talking about Halyana Hutchins that Alec Baldwin accidentally shot?
JustSomePersonThere
Yes, I shoulda mentioned that this clip reminded me of that other movie with the tragic shooting.
Comet260
Wrong movie, bud.
JustSomePersonThere
I didn’t say it was this one. Seeing this scene from Mist reminded me of that Baldwin movie.
thedudeman519
Thomas Jane ?
InboxMeYourHDGIFs
This is from The Mist, not Rust.
JustSomePersonThere
I know. This reminded me of the Baldwin movie.
rhalm
How in the world is it at all similar?
JustSomePersonThere
I’m not asserting that they are. I’m saying seeing an actor put a revolver in his mouth and pull the trigger a bunch reminded me of that other movie.
Gonefishing
The cinematographer of The Mist is still alive tho? Who are you talking about?
Gerokeymaster
I...think they're confusing Tom Jane with Alec Baldwin maybe?
JustSomePersonThere
This scene reminded me of the tragic accident that happened during the filming of that Baldwin movie. I’m not saying they are the same.
rhalm
Not only is your rambling completely unrelated, but the answer to your questions are extremely easy to look up and would do a better job than on imgur
JustSomePersonThere
Yes, I’m aware. I was asking for the same reason anyone asks anything on this or any platform: to hear an answer from another human being. To get information from something that is not a machine.
