Whats going on?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"swipe your card on this fancy technology we don't even use half of while I view your receipt on this Windows 2000 computer"

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I relate so much to this! Got to remember the places that have the chip activated and which haven't complied. hail hydra.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Haha literally every time I use it this happens

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You chip, tells me to swipe, swipe, tells me to use chip. WTF!?!?!

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Where I work, chip is for credit only, so if your card can do both and you chip first the machine will freak out and send you into a (1/2)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

chip/swipe purgatory where neither will work and the only solution is to restart the transaction. It's really fun (2/2)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The chip is a thousand times safer than using the magnetic stripe

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you insert the chip into the card reader I operate, the whole point of sale crashes...

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Your company might want to call a tech.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Meh. No money to go around...

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

HELLO DARKNESS MY OLD FRIEND...

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You bloody yanks! This was 10 years ago! https://youtu.be/B80SyRmtbdI

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, my lasagna and I are required by law to upvote this, but we're not going to like it

10 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

This is so accurate

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just tap and go already... Why is it that in the land of the credit card they're so backward in coming forward...

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

In Australia they all expect you to have the tap pay pass.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And then when you swipe first, they want you to stick it in.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is so true. And when I ask the cashier if it's chip or swipe they look at me like I'm a complete idiot no matter what the answer is!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have to say "no chip you have to swipe" with literally every customer I cash out where I work.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Because the screen tells them they can chip when they can't! I'm sorry, dude. Or girl. Person. I'm sorry, person.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No ours just says please swipe but no one fucking reads signs anymore. And its girl lol

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Where do you work? At CVS, they tend to be on it, but the local Walgreens could go either way, and the HEB seems to change by the hour.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Local grocery store called apples. Prices would go up if we got the chip, so we won't.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Makes sense, I suppose. Though at my work (factory) they use that excuse for why we don't have direct deposit.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I haye how the machine screams at you to take your card out

10 years ago | Likes 96 Dislikes 0

Because in a year or two people will start leaving them behind.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"card please...thank you, please wait.........GIT THIS MUTHAFUCKIN CARD OUT OF MY FACE.....thank you"

10 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

The noise it makes sounds like it would be caused by a declined card.

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Sounds like when everyone overbids on The Price is Right.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

At Walmart it doesn't print the receipt without taking it out. People still try to walk away from them. Also this looks like a gmls

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Huh. So far all the chip readers I've used have made a fairly pleasant tone. Not as bad as ATMs telling you to remove your card.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The alarm that blasts telling you to remove your card sounds just like a "declined" noise...which is always a possibility.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Having worked in retail, it's astonishing how many people don't know how to use an EftPos card 2 in 3 people swipe when insertion is needed.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well the chip is MUCH better and secure, I just cannot fathom why we're so behind in using it.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's how it is where I work. We're waiting for all locations to get new card readers allegedly before we activate them, but I just (1)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Think our CEO hates the chip readers and never will activate them since we've had ours installed since February. (2)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Look at the screen beforehand- if it says "swipe or insert" then they are set up for chip cards. If it just says "swipe," then they aren't

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

At least in my experience, this has been true

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Your first mistake, was assuming people will read.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You'd think it would work that way, but there's always that ONE machine...

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but the chip side has to be set up differently with their bank, half the time it doesn't even work/work yet.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Chip and sign is fucking ridiculous

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As a cashier, please stop being idiots about the chip. Use your goddamn eyes instead of asking me every time. Leave it in until it's done.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At long last. America joins the new world order...

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is the first that I'm up voting because I like it and not because it's the 29th

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And yet, while in Europe, they look at you like you are crazy if you don't have a chip...I actually had to show some how to slide a card

10 years ago | Likes 195 Dislikes 9

Swipe or Pin in 2016 LUL

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I've never heard of swiping a card, it'd either chip or occasionally contact less

10 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 2

We used to swipe in the UK, about ten years ago

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Pretty much everywhere about ten years ago I believe

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Not just Europe, most countries except USA. I live in Kuwait and can't recall the last time I swiped

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Because chip and pin is secure and swiping is absolutely not

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Because we call them fries.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I actually swipe card! It's my store bonus card, no payment so no chip. Should update to contactless though

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Chip chip chip. Huzzzah!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Europe has been chipped for years now, I remember my parents having to get chip cards ages ago (we live in the US, go abroad a lot)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know they've had it for a bit...my bank is just now converting. It's been an annoyingly long wait

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Are americans legit just getting these now? Do you have tap and go?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is people who still use cheques. Maybe in 20 years or so.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Chips? What is this, 2005? Waving is the future.

10 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 2

It's America.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There were a lot of security issues with "waving" so most issuers got rid of it on their cards since it couldn't be turned off on cards

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

It's standard in canada.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah fuck that. Unless i have one of those wallets that block the signal i am not going to broadcast my measly funds for everyone to take.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

The wallets are far from perfect. I had cards strong enough to go through. Also they improved security by using a token instead of the card#

Have you ever heard of online shopping though? If someone has your physical card it doesn't matter if it's contactless or not

Yeah for a short while because no matter what, when you hit a certain total (800 DKK in dk) you need the pin regardless, also banks (1/2)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Carry the risk as long as you weren't careless (2/2)
