On September 9, 2002, 72-year-old astronaut Buzz Aldrin punched filmmaker and conspiracy theorist Bart Sibrel outside a Beverly Hills hotel. Sibrel had lured Aldrin to the spot under false pretenses, where he aggressively harassed him, calling him a "coward, and a liar, and a thief" while demanding he swear on a Bible that the Moon landing was real. Following the incident, the Los Angeles County District Attorney declined to file charges, concluding that Aldrin was provoked.
