#9: too soon?

Drinking soda early clearly doesn't help with proofreading, though, or it wouldn't "gaurantee" things.
Ankylosaur
VictusVonGuyver
I have a few of my own archives but I have a specific one to add.
DrankTooMuchMead
This is how the anti-child Redditors see kids. Lol
WaxDragon
It's almost like we can't trust corporations to care about safety in a deregulated market...
KaminoNeko
#5 I feel like this would have been more successful with a post instead of a strap.
DarkBusterBaron
#5 I mean that's not necessarily a bad idea I think thr cigarettes are a much bigger problem than the nudity.
AllTheGoodOnesWereGone
The asbestos suit is by no means the worst of these lol.

Yoooo bring back that whiskey toothpaste! https://media4.giphy.com/media/f5MJ3VcAvtZtQQR2MJ/200w.webp?cid=a57373e570j9motam38fn5mb411c6ljwl9hlm32p8x3j8y0z&ep=v1_gifs_search&rid=200w.webp&ct=g

Gotta brush the horehound cocaine candy off my teeth with something!

#13 This seems majorly out-of-place in this dump. All the other ones are horrifying. This is just an excellent product that I would love to buy.

#1 DDT saved a LOT of lives. Cause horrendous problems, yes, but millions of yellow fever and malaria deaths prevented too.
astrangehop
At some point I or someone else should make a post about how the Hitachi magic wand is the legacy weapon of first wave feminism.

#15 Personally, I prefer Pine-Sol girlies
WoodORama
#18 This one is fake.
somnif
A few of them are.
IgnisInvictus
Well, those aged like milk.
Except for cocaine candies. I'd like those back. Oral topical analgesic... with a kick.
AsABiologistWhoIsNotFunAtParties
were there really mushroom and hemlock flavor candies? Made me think that one may be fake...

Holy shit, is this the reason I was made to drink warm 7Up when sick as a kid?
somnif
Unlikely. The 'lithiated' part of the label was removed in 1936, and it may not have ever actually contained lithium at all.
somnif
(Apparently the reason they took it off the label was "lithium was not an actual ingredient" as far as the copyright office was concerned)

You joke, but I want that whiskey toothpaste

#3 I have a neighbor we caught doing this recently. Only it was an open pit, no gravel, kept uncovered.

is this bad? Why is it?
OldBikerDude
Jesus christ, all you have to do is take it to the auto parts store. They take it for free
4noku
What's with the old ads frequently saying "ask for it by name"?
JustATemp123
Lots of different brands for the same item I reckon.
onlyhalfghost
before the mid-1960s it was common (before 1940s, almost assured) that stores worked by going in and asking for a thing like in an RPG
onlyhalfghost
the modern shopping thing is a post-WW2 arrival, mostly

DDT was an environmental scourge. It nearly wiped out several species of birds.
freshthrowaway1138
DDT was both a good and a bad. Do you want to know why the US doesn't have malaria outbreaks like other countries with similar environments? Because we sprayed and fogged until it was safe for humans. Malaria kills more humans than any other cause.
VictusVonGuyver
It also wiped out bedbugs. But it was at a terrible cost to animals and humans.
freshthrowaway1138
It's like chemotherapy. It's bad, but the cancer is worse. DDT did a lot of harm, but most of the hard was reversible.
pr3viso
I grew up when DDT was popular. It killed absolutely everything, mosquitoes, snails, ants, even got rid of ghosts.
feltenix
You don't have the Radium lined water dispenser. So you can get your daily dose. Mmm radiation.

The funny part is the lead has nothing to do with the paint properties they're talking about either. It's just a pigment in the mix.
maybeamonster
#4 methinks this one a fake. I don't think some of those conditions, as named, coincided with the period during which they were generally performing lobotomies
Ghlargh
Several of these have the smell of fakery about them and a couple are the classic fake ads, like the cola one.
Blakeadelic
Yes. PTSD wasn’t an official diagnosis until 1980.
MaxIn
Yeah Yasmin one is definitely fake, came out in 2001 I remember the ads
PapaUbu
I was thinking that too
IAlwaysUpvoteSunsets
I, too, was thinking that too.
Imalwaysready
As well thinking that was I.
Vergenbuurg
I think many of them are fake, or even just mildly tweaked to make them even more egregious to modern sensibilities.
Jteg
#17 is fake, that product was out in the 2000s and got pulled because of blood clots
Imalwaysready
Yeah, you can tell by the font choices alone.
atrielienz
I find this absolutely hilarious. God. Lysol douches, nudist cigarette holders, and whiskey toothpaste. The 50's was a wild time. With a lot of sexism.
Imalwaysready
Lysol really was marketed for feminine hygiene, but the subtext there was birth control. It killed scores of women. Back when America was “great” and all.
brandsilven
I just don't get what's wrong with natures cigarette holder. Sure, it makes them taste like ass...
astrangehop
Why do your ears taste like ass?
