This isn’t the bake sale I signed up for.

No refunds, just explain that there won't be a school to come back to if you hand out refunds.

Who could have guessed that the president of a board of directors would be called upon to make decisions....?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Shouldn’t the government tell you if you need to close. Unless you have someone diagnosed.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Now you know how a certain Cheeto feels!

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I’m sorry but, “this is not the bake sale I signed up for” made me laugh so bad. Good luck OP, always air on caution instead of risk.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well I hate to be that guy, but you did ask for it

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Board of Directors is not PTA, if you wanted Bake Sales that’s what you should have signed up for.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

1st rule, never volunteer unless you're excited about it

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sell the stupid kids for medical experiments, use the money to make the school a safe zone.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's why they call it "work".

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You clearly were believed in to do the job. You can do it. Believe your judgements and do the best you can

6 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Cancel school. Be the beginning of the rebellion!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Isn’t “global pandemic” redundant?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As president you don’t make the any decisions but have the board vote on them. Roberts rules states the only time you vote is to break ties.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Exactly. The board makes these calls, not the president. The president presents issues for board vote, guides the discussion, etc.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Remember @op, no confusion is ever for nothing. Just you do you!

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Close the school, pay the teachers and have then clean and lesson plan. Have teachers do online training. Send lesson plans to parents.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If you get quarantined, it should count as a medical disability. Just saying

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

This is an unprecedented situation! You can't really do wrong if you justify your actions! You made the right move with the info at the time

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Doesn't the board make these decisions collectively? Or at least reach a consensus and advise you? You should insist on it, IMO.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This could turn out to be your finest hour, @OP. Keep calm, exercise prudence and you got this!

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Why does a fucking preschool need a board of directors. Give them paint and mud and the kids are solid.

6 years ago | Likes 369 Dislikes 16

It might have more than preschool. They just mentioned that there daughter is in the preschool. Might go up through highschool.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Because someone has to make the ultimate discussions even if a committee advises or votes.

6 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 2

Ultimate decision means ultimate responsibility meaning you get to be sued if all hell breaks lose

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's a requirement of the law.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is a very ignorant comment

6 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 7

Because somebody needs to decide how to spend the cash, less paint or less teachers

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Because parents nowadays are horrible, and want written reports on their childrens progress. Ah, just like the good old times of the Stasi

6 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 17

=east german secret police

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 8

Bureaucracy?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

"The kids are solid!?!!" You have offended the children and parents who identify as liquid. Here is your court summons.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Solid. Liquid. Does matter, it’s all shitty.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ha! If that daycare is taking state or federal money the have a bunch of regulations they have to meet..

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sounds like they don't. If they're offering the job up to random moms, it can't be too important.

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 4

I mean, I wasn’t totally random. I have a background in education, am a long-time parent, and a 2-year board member.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Could be a random dad? Statistically unlikely I know but not impossible.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

We have a dad on the board! First ever in our schools 50-ish year history.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Nice!

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

keep everyone in school and don't encourage panic until you have reason to.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 10

Why would you keep everyone in school? Smart play is to close and hinder the spread like most places are, secondly, you should never 1/2

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Encourage panic, whether there’s reason to or not, panic is only detrimental 2/2

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The governor just closed all k-12 schools in the state. As is our usual policy we follow local public school closings for numerous reasons.

6 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Sounds like you are getting a hang of it. You got this.

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

We have elderly staff, students who live with grandparents, immune compromised students, etc. We’re closing - the question is how long.

6 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

The Governor of Ohio closed all schools statewide for the next three weeks starting Monday

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What's the cost of delaying the decision on when to reopen? Can you close for two weeks and re-evaluate then?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The cool thing about IMGUR comments is it gives you a chance to read views from some incredibly dimwitted ppl.

Usually they include a little paper inside or on the back that tells you what they are....

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I hate the global epidemic chocolates.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's probably how Trump feels right now.

6 years ago | Likes 196 Dislikes 14

Not with his hubris.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

He'll be busy blaming everybody else.

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 7

He's already blaming Yurop!

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Yeah except he asked for the job.

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 8

How are people down voting this? It's a fact. Oh, nevermind I get it.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

bullshit, he's worrying will this cost me anything and who can i blame as he's done with everything he's ever been forced to confront.

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 7

"I only ran for this job to one up Obama because he roasted me."

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He feels?

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 11

Pffft, that man is incapable of anything as complex as 'feelings'

6 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 13

Or "thoughts"

Here, friend, next time try this one

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have not yet begun to defile myself.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Look, make money conscious decisions, but make sure you don’t screw over staff, if you have to not pay people during that time, start at the

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Honestly? I'd go for "no tuition refunds, staff gets paid so your daughter doesn't have to get used to a new teacher once it's over".

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Top, and work down, those people are easier to replace

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Liquidate all of their assets and invest it in toilet paper.

6 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Instructions unclear. Liquidated toilet paper.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Liquid toilet paper? Quick! Sell me some before the others come!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sure, it's £10 per litre.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Water is just liquid toilet paper

"President of the Board, managed affairs during coronavirus outbreak" has the potential to be a *lot* more impressive on the resume.

6 years ago | Likes 1861 Dislikes 0

bring back square pizza in the cafeteria. Let them suffer like we did.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Next job interview: "Yes. You were doing very well until everyone died"

6 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I’d suggest you keep it off your resume and use this time to embezzle as much money as you possible can.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

i almost spit out my coffee reading that!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I can proudly say that while our preschool went bankrupt, it did so far more gracefully than 80% of the other preschools which wen bankrupt.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In good news, kids are least affected. So at least the worst case very likely doesn't involve tragic kid illness. That would look awful.

6 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

But they can be infected without symptoms and pass it to their grandparents.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Er, and be awful...

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

yeah, yeah, that too

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Assuming you do a good job, that is.

6 years ago | Likes 214 Dislikes 2

In 2018 no-one died. In 2019 no-one died. In 2020...

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Honestly, I'm at that jaded part of my life where if you make decisive decisions and had a solid line of reasoning, you did a good job.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Or assuming that no witnesses are around to say otherwise...

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

OP to the children:

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If everyone dies, no witnesses

6 years ago | Likes 86 Dislikes 1

What's that, zero complaints?

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Exactly

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's it, think positive

6 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

*coughs*

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

@OP, please communicate with local Physicians and your state officials. DO THIS, BE AGGRESIVE AND PUSHY! YOU CAN DO IT!!!

You have a foot. Put it up. Put it so far up everyones arse that they become your puppets.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Absolutely, OP dont pretend to be an expert. Defer to experts!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Be aggressive! Be be aggressive!!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Deal with every small business out there.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Could he not? You can refuse to back down without being obnoxious: /

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Indeed, this. Also @OP if you need to talk through some things to get your bearings, I'm a (pathogen) microbiologist - you can message me.

6 years ago | Likes 76 Dislikes 0

And I'm the president of Mars. PM me, I'll ignore you.

Do you mind if I ask for your opinion on how long this outbreak is going to last in the US?

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Well a long time.. Likely gonna escalate for another few months then hang there for a bit.. Before we get a vaccine expect... Id say 20 Mill

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

It's difficult to say. In one way or another we're talking Months. We know we need to slow down infection rates to allow for proper ->

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0
