There are worse things to do than being carried away by German cops. Which wasn't always the case, I guess.

Give em hell Greta!

2 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 10

She's trying to STOP the planet becoming hell silly.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Again, what is this the 2nd or third time this week

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Yet defraud the country through dodgy PPE contracts worth billions and you can enjoy your freedom and free money.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They arrested 26 people. It's not like they picked out one person. But saying Joe blogs was arrested doesn't get people talking.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I find it funny when people attack her over being arrested, saying "she's only doing it for attention!" and I'm like, that's the point of protesting, isn't it? Protests aren't about being ignored. If you're a high profile person attending a protest and you get arrested, the protest gets attention in the news and on social media. Police carrying off Greta in front of cameras is a highly effective media strategy.

I saw Greta in real life! When she came to Bristol, UK. The march she was leading passed by, just as I was leaving Greggs with a sausage roll, steak bake and donut.. I got a genuine Greta frown, proper Paddington Bear style! I could see her judging me... I haven't eaten a sausage roll or steak bake since.

2 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 3

She actually browbeat her own parents into becoming vegetarians. Advocating against climate change is admirable, but in that respect she's a terrorist!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Greta saving the climate AND arteries.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

How was the sausage roll? I live in the US near Philadelphia. Any good pics?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The details of your Greggs order made me happy, and I'm sorry for your loss.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I was having a bad day. Normally I just go for the steak bake and donut. But the sausage roll is good to eat on the way back to the office.

waste of police resources.

Unless they are booking her for tax evasion it'll be a slap on the wrist and she'll be home by Friday.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I would rather be rioting and getting shot for something I believe in rather than keep working for my fuckass job for healthcare and the ability to live

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

London not Bejing? Come on millionaire Greta prove this is not just one big self promotion campaign...

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I wonder if the people doing the aresting ever go home and wonder why they had to arrest someone for protesting an impending apocalypse.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

She looks so pleased with herself I love it.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

I swear they just arrest her now because of her reputation. All famous protestors in human history get arrested for speaking their mind against govt. peaceful or not.

The kind of woman Shell orders totalitarian regimes to murder.

In my short story about the extinction of humanity, she's one of the last heroes trying to stop it from coming

again???

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Stick it to the man!

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

I love the way she’s staring at the camera before she turns around

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Once again, showing the police are just another enforcement for the status quo, not the public at large.

I mean, how dare she want to fight to make sure people can breathe clean air, drink clean water, and have a habital area for safe agriculture.

The nerve of her directly affecting short term profits that mean nothing if the planet dies.

British police are so polite.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

If you're not drunk and in their face, generally yes. Useless at helping when you get robbed, though.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's okay, theft is a victimless crime so they don't need to be helpful then, either. /s

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So productive. They don't have bigger fish to fry?

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 4

Like that bleached toad who lied on the side of a bus at his master’s behest

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yes that fish they're frying is called the Earth unfortunately

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

Okay, that one was pretty clever

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They know that arresting her is exactly what she wants, right? Giving her a larger media footprint.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 3

Why do you think the police would be against this in the UK? They are simply doing their job. Shit, they might support her cause, too. Still gotta do their jobs.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

No they can literally not do their job, they can sit back and watch if she’s not harming anyone

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

fascists gonna fascist.

awfully polite of them to give her such a SPLENDID Photo op. Like "we have to do our job but we give ya a stage." im dreamin

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

She's a pro at getting arrested. 2 more and she gets a Get out of Jail Free card!

2 years ago | Likes 79 Dislikes 1

When you do just enough to get arrested, but not because of anything outrageous enough to lose popular support, AND not illegal enough to get jail time.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Big "Okay, Boomer" vibes.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's some "Sure, Jan" energy in that expression.

2 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 1

Beautiful. You can tell she gives exactly zero fucks.

2 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 2

"This only adds to my power"

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

I hope she wears stuff with lots of pockets so when she gets searched it takes them lots of extra time and that they have to search every single pocket.

2 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

They're doing their part, she's doing hers. No need to make it difficult for any of them, they're not the decision-makers here.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 8

Use a magicians hankie that just keeps going

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I dunno if it's ultimately effective or not, but at least she's doing something and pissing off the establishment. That's good enough in my book.

2 years ago | Likes 660 Dislikes 21

well, no, its not, but at least it isnt blocking completely random traffic. this is logical and has a point

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

It's more effective than what virtually anyone else is doing

2 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 1

Her non-violent arrest just draws more focus to the issue.

2 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 1

The school strike she started all alone has inspired many to join her, and many across the globe to follow her example. She's already been wildly successful in mobilizing many for this cause.

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

They're making her more famous.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

She is doing her absolute, dedicated best. One cannot ask for more.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Greta doesnt fuck around, and she doesn't shy away from the front lines. She doesnt hypocritically fly in jet planes everywhere to speak about climate issues like all the politicians do. She's a true activist. Now she is getting arrested, so much +respect points in my book. Same thing when I learned about Bernie Sanders being arrested at civil rights protests decades ago, if your activism never gets you arrested, you're probably not doing enough. Greta is legit.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

protests are absolutely effective. That's why fascists (like the London police) try to curtail protest.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 9

I think it is effective, she draws attention everywhere she gets arrested and it enhances the media impact of the protest.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Whilst generally I agree, "I like x because they piss off the people I don't like" is a train of thought that led directly to the current culture wars obsessed right wing types getting into power everywhere

2 years ago | Likes 78 Dislikes 13

Right but the context is this: nobody, even the politicians that claim they will make good climate policy, are actually doing fuck all to improve the climate situation. So the "establishment" is willing to let us and all future generations die in an uninhabitable wasteland, and greta is going against that. In this context, pissing off the establishment is the righteous and morally correct action to take.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's a big difference in what each group considers "the establishment", though. For one group it's applied to science-denying profit-driven corporate-owned death cult fascists, and for the other it's a buzzword used to attack legitimate experts. And this is backed up by verifiable facts.

2 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 1

Time is running out. The few who take the problem seriously argue that drastic measures are needed to make any difference. We can be glad that they just protest (yet). Time will tell if that is enough.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

And you know what? If it leads to them losing power everywhere I'm fine with it

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

And it's how we got the Last Jedi

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I prefer y for pissing people off

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Whilst I generally agree (love this for a comment reply I’m taking it, perfect amount of sass) what if that group of people are ignoramus-bigots sleepwalking into fascist and destructive policies?

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

I feel like "sleep-walking" gives the Tories far too much credit. They're charging in eyes wide open, they just have more barriers to their takeover than America's hellscape does.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I expect his point is that mindlessly following someone because they piss off someone you don't like is, generally speaking, a bad policy.
