No, it always was a dumb narrative, of course white lives matter, but what became clear in recent decade is that despite modernized police forces, they still act as if white lives matter more than other lives, even beyond black. Black lives are just a firm #2 in American population by number so that's what we see as primary effected, plus Americas racist past. It's dumb people trying to be the main character in someone else's story.
