We (the EU) are competing with a massive single economy where the state has 0 problems dumping cash into industry to outcompete other countries, this has been a thing for a loooong time now.

I got downvoted recently for standing up for EU sellers, while to comment essentially claiming that EU sellers are just buying from China and seller with a 300% mark up got upvoted.

maybe so, but we are quite certainly shooting ourselves in the foot to help speed things along.. bad policies, out sourcing, not supporting local industry etc..

Sure, they are also building state of the art rail systems.

They are doing a lot of good things but, they are able to execute them with this speed and efficiency because the state is supreme over the individual. Private property and citizens rights are not nearly as robust as in the US and Europe.

Unfortunately, China is full of scammers, and they don't just scam foreigners. I saw a video about this recently, how China's building industry is full of so-called Tofu-Dreg Projects. entire apartment blocks collapse because they cut too many corners.

Authoritarian states usually have a problem with corruption. Look at Russia and any dictatorship on the map.

As the American presidency becomes more imperial, we have seen more and more corruption in the U.S.
