I (M41) was in a complicated relationship for so long it became the norm. I know this post will end in the void but i have no one to share what i feel. To her i have never been enough. I never met her needs and trust me, i tried. I tried to make it work for us while she tried to accept my imperfections. So after 10 years and a kid she just had enough. I know its for the best. We were not happy together. But damn the loneliness… Stranded with your thoughts, your despair. As if a coat of sadness was wrapped around you all day long. I tried Tinder and stuff like that but im just not ready. And everytime a girl rejects me it’s like acid on an open wound. Im trying to play strong for my daughter but i can barely talk to her without thinking : sorry, our family is over now. I know the pain will pass. I just wish it would be faster. Ps: sorry for the bad English, not my main language.

A friend of mine went through something similar in recent years. It's ugly at first, but it will get better. The best advice I can give is to start saying yes to things. Take a class, go on a city break vacation, try a new hobby, meet new people. It helps you realise what a huge world was existing outside of your tiny bubble where you felt alone in the company of someone else.

Sounds familiar. A bit of advice, it will get better. Take a break from relationships for a while, spend some time on you and have some fun until youre ready to start again. Tell your daughter you love her and when she sees you recover, it will all become normal.

I know it's tempting to "jump back in the saddle". But it just isn't right for you or the other person until you've properly healed. Took me alnost a year after my divorce until I felt confident and stable enough, to be happy being by myself- so that I was ready to build something new and not look for someone to dump my baggage on. I went to the gym 4x per week, adjusted my diet, my routine, reconnected with old friends, etc.

I'm sorry this happened, and I hope this isn't harsh, but I'm sorry for both of you because it took you both 10 years of rejection to realise it was over. I hope you find happiness now.

Been there done that. Don’t even try dating for a couple YEARS. You have a ton of grieving and processing ahead of you. List live for your kid and yourself. Don’t get mad at yourself when tiny things trigger memories that hit you like a ton of bricks.

Time to focus on yourself. Try to improve and be the best you can for yourself and your kid. The rest is less important and will follow later v

Lemme expand on this, I told my partner this yesterday

I want us to experience life together, and I want you to be better for yourself in those times I might not be there with you. I want you to be just as stable as you are with or without me.

I've fallen into the same trap of thinking that just being together is enough to fix me, but it falls apart the second we fall apart. So, work towards making you better for you, and we'll share that together.

I can't magically fix you by proxy, you hav
