Owls can't secrete special type of oil that make normal bird feathers water repellent, it was sacrificed for their silent flying at night. I'm no bird expert, so I don't know the sauce.
If my wife would sit in the tub, dunking her face in the water and then shake her head violently, splashing half of the water onto the bathroom floor, just to wash her face, I'd be making fun of her, too. You got hands (probably). Use them :D
