Nearly the entire continent of Australia will be 100°F (38°C) or hotter next week. Hottest of 121°F (49.5°C) forecast by some models next Thursday in South Australia.

I'm just amazed most of the residential buildings are built above ground, rather than underground like some of the opal mining towns...

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

How long before the Aussie populace abandons the land and ships out to live in undersea podule habitats instead?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well I am glad I live in Tasmania right about now.

Lobbyists are enablers for corrupt government practices. Whistleblowers are being criminalised, the media too. This is the old China road.

He's that extreme? Haha Ahh. Class act that we elected a gumby him like him. His "Quiet Australians" shit backfired with these fires though.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yup, Pentecostal, the real nuts. That quiet Australians thing is just him jerking off the boomers, they like to think they’re important

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This last week on twitter has been hilarious, trending globally just shitting on him, and Angus Taylor, the fires etc. Quiet Australians lol

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

The politics doesnt help the weather

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Whenever Australians talk on the internet they universally loathe those dickheads. Even Trump gets more love than the Aus government. 1/2

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How the fuck did they get elected?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dickhead and assholes voting for them

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I think you meant to say cunts

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lies and accidents, a Little electoral fraud (our oversight agency has no power) and deliberate misinformation campaigns

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Minor parties giving their votes away because they only really have a stance on one issue (ie legalise marijuana party). And oldies.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And let’s not forget Fatty McFuckhead spending $60 million on a campaign he admits he didn’t care if he lost to take votes away from Labor.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Australia still part of the Commonwealth? and can the queen still sack the PM?

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Mate Dutton is just waiting in the wings if scomo the wanka falls. He is who we get

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I stopped paying attention the 19th fucking time rudd got in. Our political system is a corrupt joke with a dead koala for a punchline.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

labor couldnt win an election if they rigged it.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes, but not even the Queen. The Governor General (her representative) can and has done so, in 1975 to be specific

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Fun fact: for the first time since that happened our faith in our politicians is back at that exact same level that led to that happening

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ah, so the power was executed once... But I think this is going to be like sliceing the head of a hydra...

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The ridiculous thing is that the political party in power usually elects the governor general so it’s a conflict of interest.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Um isnt the religious discrimination bill so doctors can refuse treatment to gay people if they want and schools can kick put gay kids....

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

the new bill would provide greater protection to speech like: that gay people are going to hell, that disabled people are possessed

6 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

The firies need more dollarydoos

6 years ago | Likes 72 Dislikes 1

lol that was in an aussie accent even in my head.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

There's a religious discrimination bill in Australia? That sounds bad. I'll have to look into that.

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

yeah, it's literally just scott Morrison trying to keep everyone distracted from his government's massive funding cuts in all major sectors.

6 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

our conservative government are trying to punish the gays for getting the right to marry when Aus voted overwhelmingly yes the other year.

6 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

The strong streak of reserved conservative thinking is probably our fault, sorry about that. If it helps, they'll all die off eventually.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The gays?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Nah, all those gay hating, censorship inducing, ethnic hating right wing nutters descended from old UK Tories.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thatcher and her ilk are all but gone, and their pale descendents are no match. Keep the faith and the dawn will come.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Mate we need action on climate change more. Australia has the potential to hit 500% of our current energy needs with renewables

6 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 3

Considering the giant solar farms I've seen in the US, and how most of Aus is empty, I'm surprised they're not leading the charge in solar.

6 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

Well they ger paid millions from fossil fuel lobbys

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

too many fruit loops complaining about them just like windfarms and 5g

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

The Australian economy was built off coal and other natural resources, unfortunately these companies gained so much power over our -

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Politicians/government that it’s hard to go against them. Same story in the US with oil companies influence on gov. But Australia absolutely

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Should invest heavily in renewable energy, considering we have the space & weather perfect for solar, and the resources to make it happen

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

coal is massively subsidized and (currently) cheap. But no new coal plants will be built in aus, too expensive.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Except you know adani

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Still can’t believe that’s going ahead. Haven’t seen a movement get this much traction in Aus since the indigenous rights movements

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thats a mine and Australia likes to pretend once coals on a ship it doesnt count

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thats a mine and they don't even really want to build it. They just want the gov to change the existing deal so they can sue for billions.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because of the NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard) dipshits. They pretend they're all for it, just not where they can see it.

6 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

The outback looks shit anyway

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Partially. It's also politicians being paid by coal mines to keep coal on the menu.

6 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

But aren't there huge parts of Australia where literally no one has a backyard even in the vicinity?

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

"Oh but you'll kill all the birds in the area mate, you can't do that." And other stupid excuses.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

They don't care. They don't want them built -at all-; they just pretend that's the reason for their objections.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Firies? Is that firefighters? Why am I not surprised?

6 years ago | Likes 138 Dislikes 2

Firies and Ambos and Cops for any emergency situation. Right!!!!!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In Aus slang is natural we call beer piss and McDonald's Macca's is it really a surprise firefighters has a slang name too

6 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 2

I've only ever heard them called firefighters or firemen/women.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And also bikies

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Whats the slang for quantum chromodynamics?

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Quanty chromodynamies?

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Chromies. Wait, that's for people with dow-- *ow* why are you hitti-- *ow* stop it!

6 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Breakfast?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What do you call them? Don't say firefighters because that's their actual name. What's their slang?

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 8

Feuerwehr

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Because they wehr the feuers

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Les McBurney

6 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

We just say firefighters. It's not a word that we've deemed needing of a nickname.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Firemen in US

6 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ackshually, that is the country of Australia...

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's almost a continent as well, though we do tend to group NZ and the rest of the Oceaniac islands in with it

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Australia is a country, continent and island, we're special

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

It's both

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

From what I can find, the continent includes the proximate islands including Tasmania, New Guinea, the Aru Islands and Raja Ampat Islands.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That might be Australasia. Australia is a continent itself.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Australia is a country; it is in the continent of Oceania.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

As a continent is a continuous expanse of land, no. You're thinking of the Indo-Australian Plate.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You're wrong.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And it's a continent itself

6 years ago | Likes 107 Dislikes 10

Go on then, thin-blood.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The heat is disgusting, and there's only so many clothes you can take off!

6 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Much prefer the cold, but constant snow in winter would be a pain

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Dude, seriously, fuck anything over 75. I fucking despise being hot. Fucking hate it. Like If I go out and it's a hot day fuck that day.

6 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 2

Australians are strict on immigration.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Stay where you are, if the animals and heat don't get you the politicians are trying as well

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That’s what Arizona is for

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah nah I'll take the snow of sweaty sticky ass summer any da

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Over*

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd rather live in constant -30 celcius than on that infernal heat

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maybe you could just move the snow to Australia? :-)

6 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Melbourne is fine. No fires, doubt we'll see the insane temps, one of worlds most liveable cities. And good coffee!

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

When my kid graduated (we live in Michigan) she said she was going where there wasn't snow. She wound up in Melbourne after a couple of years

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yup, I'm 32 and never seen snow. The nearest in winter is 3+ hrs away

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The yo-yo temps are fucky though, 37°C one day 19°C the next...

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Thats not very normal though.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Surprisingly... over a 9 year period... cows/horses were caused the most deaths in Aus. Source - Aus Bureau of Statistics and an assignment

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean, that’s not including drop bear related deaths...

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Obvs

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Drop bears aren’t included in the statistics for obvious reasons.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But... but the government says climate change ain't a thing?

6 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 10

Climate change, that is.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Had to know it'd be in here somewhere. Yes, human made climate is real. No, the weather being hot/cold somewhere DOES NOT prove/disprove it

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

Sure, but more extreme weather patterns than are typical are evidence that supports it.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Earth’s been doing that since before Humans

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 9

Not like this. https://climate.nasa.gov/evidence/

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not this quickly. Over tens of thousands of years, not tens of years.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Not true Al Gore

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 9

Watched that dumb fuck Pauline on the telly. She said climate change isn't man made. It's because the earth is closer to the sun, volcanic..

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Stupid bitch should have stuck with the fish and chip shop

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah dunno, I think that was pushing it's intellectual capacity.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That Ronald McDonald looking fuckwit could tell me the sky is blue, I'd still go outside to check

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

.. eruptions, and atomic bombs.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Hey 2/3 not man made. It close to perfect score.. for a toddler.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Atomic bombs aren't man made?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Everybody knows those are naturally occurring phenomena

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

According to Pauline they must be naturally occurring atomic bombs.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe they lay in wait for their natural prey the hurricane?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It doesn't get nearly that hot in texas.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

what part of texas? i’m from houston and i remember about 5 100 degree days a year, and then there was one year that took out my lawn.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was talking 120s. I can't remember a time its ever gotten that high, but then again my memory is shit. I'm also from Houston.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

i don’t remember a 120s either

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

With the Heat Index, & during our 100* summers, temps can be over 110* for days at a time. I also remember it being that hot in Arizona.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

But did it reach 120s?
