I had a svirfneblin necro in one of my campaigns I DM'd. He was a part of a tribe of necromancers that used the bones of their ancestors to work and support the village after death. It was considered an honor. So out adventuring he just carried a duffel bag with his dad and brother to summon when he needed to.

It would probably go against the current regulations on defacing corpses. I imagine if necromancy was real, it would also get banned under alternate-fantasy world's Geneva Convention equivalent as well.

Except healing magic, and sometimes "proper" resurrections (both are technically necromancy in some settings such as D&D's Forgotten Realms)

As far as I can find, only resurrection/raise dead are necromancy, and cure wounds and similar spells are evocation. Which is still interesting, I could've sworn divine magic didn't have schools at all like necromancy and evocation.
