Donated one to my sister 6 days ago. We’re both ready to get on with our lives. She feels better already. Best of luck.

That is awesome. I received a cornea transplant because of a donor. After my surgery I signed up to be a donor as well.

Good luck to you. What happened to the first, if you don’t mind me asking?

The longevity of kidneys after transplant depends on many factors: deceased donor or living donor, dieting, medication, etc. 1/

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Deceased donors can expect their kidneys to last 10 years+ and living donors can exceed 15-20 years+. Then again, some can last 2/

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Over 40 years. Many kidney recipients who are young will need another transplant in their lifetime however. I’m a living donor and gave 3/

Gave my kidney to a friend. Best of luck to you guys!

Hope you get some of that good luck, too!

Funny how the system is set up for generally poor and minority organs to go to the white and rich recipients.

No it’s not

1. My guy and I have that shirt. 2. Fucking fantastic, congrats!! 3. Is it PKD? Because my family's got that.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes! It’s brutal. He had a nephrectomy about 6 months ago and his kidney was the size of a baby.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Congratulations to him, that is amazing!!!!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Holy crap. My dad goes in for his next month. Hes at the end of the process and already got a transplant, but my brother is at the start...

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s a tough recovery. Very painful, I’m afraid to say. Dr. Denny did ours. I wish your dad and brother a fast recovery.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hes going through OHSU. His doc figured out how to do it laparoscopically!!! One incision instead of 2! Our fingers are crossed! And thank u!
