Okay would an American eat 6 in one sitting? Probably, especially if it's Kirspe Kream. Do people regularly buy half a dozen for just themselves, with the explicit purpose of doing so all at once? No usually it's for through out the day or for 2 or 3 days if not shared.
Had donuts once as an European once and it was disappointing but I probably had wrong expectations. It was like "wait, there's no filling, it's just dough???"
Depends on the type of doughnut but pretty much all of them have some sort of glaze, icing, or tons of other toppings. There are indeed doughnuts that have a filling though.
Donuts are a good way to make bread appealing, but I can't justify the calories. I don't know how they fit so many calories into a little piece of bread. Each is 600+.
… Reminder: American-style 'bread' contains so many sugars (be that actual sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, or other variants) that the Supreme Court in Ireland ruled that Subway could not legally classify their rolls as actually *being* bread. Doughnuts are basically a cake or pastry.
That's a popular thing to say, but most bread doesn't contain much sugar. A little may be used to give the yeast extra food. I cannot taste starches, so potatoes, rice, and bread all taste like nothing to me. Even bread tastes like shitty emptiness. Sugar isn't playing a significant role, here. Now, I'm sure one can find an example of a bread with actually significant amounts in it -- just as one can find cake if one looks for it -- but it's not the norm.
At least in Germany the standard isn't: "At least the other candidate isn't a convict rapist, convicted fraudster, blatantly deranged Hitler wannabe who wants to turn our country into a dictatorship while banging his own daughter"
Somehow, I find it hard to believe that a country internationally famous for beer, sausage, and fermented cabbage doesn't have more than a passing relationship with heartburn and diarrhea.
Of course, that may be because I've only had those things in American sized portions, so maybe not...
No doubt, but there's a couple major differences. Firstly, it's much rarer for people to be overweight (though this is changing). Regardless of the reason, there's good reason to believe overweight people will experience some issues more frequently. Secondly, it's illegal to advertise prescription medication over there, so regardless of what issues they experience, they aren't gonna see the issues advertised about as much. Thirdly, the aforementioned ingredients are probably less healthy.
God, I wish. Indian and Mexican for me are the kinds of meals that are done when I'm in physical pain. The meal is over when I hate myself. Now give me more garlic Naan.
That's cause our FDA basically just asks "Will it kill people?" If the answer is no the next question is " How much will you pay us to pass this through"

Not to be that guy, but the hot dog in pizza crust was done by a lot of other countries first before it came to America. https://www.eater.com/2015/6/18/8809889/hot-dog-pizza-history

Dunkies ones are greasy AF too. Half of one is too much.

What other demonym's have you tried donuts as besides European? Was your experience different as those?
dingybasement350
There are filled donuts. Also if you went to a chain donut place that's probably why they sucked.
DarkBusterBaron

Its just dough most of the time, some have filling. Toppings is more of what you want to look for. Also depends where you got the donuts.

I mean there's more than one kind of donut

I love donuts. I still can't eat more than 2 at a time, 3 tops and only if they're the flaky, airy kind.

200-300 more like.

Depends on the type and size, of course. There are plenty that are over 600, but also plenty that are under it.

The fermented cabbage is quite healthy actually. Lots of fiber, vitamins and bacteria that are good for the intestine.
The sausages, beer and cheeses not so much. This is why cardiovascular diseases are the main cause of death in Germany (approx. 40%).

It's healthy, yes, but also very acidic and can push you into hearburn all by itself.

i have eaten at German restaurants and the portions are just as big a American ones.
