Yeah, hell no to this Vote Blue No Matter Who GARBAGE, that's why your crap ass party does nothing but capitulate to the right, they already got your vote.
Voting for a Zionist democrat just means you're voting for a fascist who supports the murder of innocent children. Just because they wave a rainbow flag doesn't hide from the fact they back murder and genocide, just makes them and their voters a hypocrite.
okay but if it's between a fascist who supports the murder of innocent children and a much worse fascist who supports the murder of many more innocent children (and much more) i am still voting for the first one. with disgust and anger, sure, but no, i will not in fact help get even more children murdered just so i can sit atop my moral high ground and proudly proclaim that i had nothing to do with this because i entirely pawned the decision off on others
fascism is atrocious whoever does it, but voting for the least fascism is good whoever's doing the least fascism and even if that amount is still higher than zero. i would love to vote for zero fascism if that was an option and i would love to help make it an option, but until it is an option, i will in fact vote for less fascism over more fascism instead of letting others choose (since the choice between the two does get made one way or another) just so i can claim i didn't vote for fascism.
Take it from an old Lefty like me. The current Dem party is not an opposition party. Is it a better option than Repuubs? Sure. Will anything change with either party in power? No, they are both wholly owned by corporations and Isreal. Dems play the role of the good party on TV while enabling where we are now. We have never had a truly Left party, and it's only going to get worse. Feel free to disagree, but I've watched this all play out for half a century.
They say that the parties switched sides decades ago - that the Republicans of today are the Democrats of yesteryear, and vice versa. This is a gross simplification. It *is* true that all of the hard-line conservatives flooded the GOP and drove minorities to the Democrats, but the Democrats never really picked up any of the progresives. They adapted to the shift by clinging to the status quo - one might almost say, conservatively - and tepidly welcoming the votes of people chased out of the GOP.
Basically, I call the Establishment Dems, "Blue Reagan Republicans". Their policies fit neoliberalism that was created by Reagan to a T: be incrementalist in the concessions you make, fuck over everybody to your left, and worship the almighty dollar.
The Dems supported Civil Rights in the 60s and all their "supporters" jumped to Republicans.
They will never be that "ratical" again. They will talk a tough game, make some allocations for the working class....but they will never support anything that truly changes the system or "status quo."
I'd say even the DSA is a mixed bag. They're an improvement but it seems like they backtrack on a lot of their major policies once they're in office. Even Mamdani has backtracked on a lot of his anti-imperial positions.
I won't say don't vote for them, of course. But make them accountable. If they aren't living up to their promises, make your voice heard and BE LOUD. Make them a real opposition party and be prepared to ditch them if they won't do that.
Might I interest you in an alternative...? If that answer is yes, please look in to my 2028 POTUS campaign. I'm an unaffiliated candidate who seeks to rid our country of the political waste which the two party system has made commonplace. I seek to restore the working class to prosperity, reign in corporations, eliminate billionaires, and severe friendly relations with Israel (just to name a few relevant things). Patsy 2028, dealing in hope!
"Wholly owned by corporations" Biden passed the first ever corporate minimum tax, forcing companies like amazon to pay millions in taxes they were avoiding before, blocked the Kroger merger, and started the process to break up Google. But sure, keep repeating literal Russian propaganda, I'm sure the next time ya'll get Republicans elected in order to feel superior to people actually trying to improve things it'll be good, right? Useful idiots...
The irony of calling the left useful idiots when you're running defense for the most notorious status quo warriors in the Democratic establishment is genuinely sad
The only part I disagree with, is when you said nothing will change with either of them in power. Currently, Republicans are making changes for a soft coup. Because their first couple failed. And our Supreme leader will be much worse when he is the supreme leader.
I have. And America has been growing more right wing for longer than I've been alive. Bush expanded presidential powers during his war on terror. Obama, instead of undoing it, kept expanding presidential powers and the surveilance state. He didnt shut down Gitmo. He did regine change in Libya. How they have open slave markets. Yay?
And then there's Biden. Did he fix the problems of Trumpism? No. He was a 4 year pause before things went back to fascism, but bigger than before.
Democrats are the "good cop". Looks good in front of the camera but turns a blind eye when the "bad cops" do bad things. A few bad apple ruin the bunch. The bunch is properly and entirely ruined at this point
if i have to give trump one ONE credit, it's that i'd very much like to tell politicians who aren't representing the people to go fuck themselves, whiiiich is probably something that only he could get away with sadly. :(
They're not even doing it right. Being the bigger person doesn't mean you stand down and let the bad guy keep doing bad shit. It means you don't sink to their level. You can still be VERY effective while not doing fascism.
Yea but being an effective neoliberalist fundamentally enables fascism because it inherently supports and reinforces the capitalist Imperialist system which fascist leverage to gain power of authority.
In the US, that will only realistically happen if the Democratic party dies out. The electoral system makes people strategically vote for one of two. Without a drastic over-hall of how power is alloted and how elections are run, it will revert to a two-party state (that's really just one party).
I encourage you to try. Both major parties are a cancer. More parties are generally better.
We did. Clinton. That was moderate, socially aware, fiscally concerned, illegal immigration concerned governance. The Dems have been run by social media and Social Goals (we got a black guy, now let's get a woman!), while completely ignoring the voters that count: middle America swing voters who just don't want to deal with the far right/left bullshit. Anything "DSA" will lose the vote again. We need moderates like Andy Beshear. Win the battle. Stop trying to win the war that will never end.
Your candidates keep losing and you keep seeing evidence that "far left" cuts into red territory in ways moderates will never be capable of. Not only will your candidates never yield victory, they will do absolutely nothing to combat right wing extremism once they are in power. And it's obvious why. The antidote for fascism is having healthcare. Affording groceries and a reasonable quality of life. It's the same observation Aristotle made about poverty and criminality.
The truth is much more complicated. The Democrat establishment as a whole takes Corp money. That's not corruption, that's the system that a largely republican ruling class created. But you also can't NOT take that money, it's just as important in politics as anywhere else. That's lead to compromises and lesser of two evils choices. But painting the entire Democrat party as right wingers is NOT true. A democratic Supreme Court passed the VRA. A democratic congress built the reconstruction, the
I think they meant that the Supreme Court struck down a bunch of legal challenges to different parts of the VRA in the first decade or so after it was enacted. Things that would have gutted the VRA.
No no no. It *is* corruption. The US has SO much corruption it decriminalized it.
ALL campaign donations are corruption. All of them. All of it. It's a bribe. They're allowed to launder a little of it for their own wallets, and they're absolutely allowed to profit off their power while in office. And their families instantly get rich.
Legislation preventing segregation. Obamacare had REPUBLICAN concessions but it was the largest and most beneficial Healthcare bills in US history. It was supposed to be interim Legislation before a MORE socialist piece of legislation could be passed, but instead we got republican controlled government for a decade. There is a clear through line here and it's not "Dems are reps," it's that there is a gigantic, right wing propaganda machine undercutting left wing politics.
You gotta remember it's all relative. Going from socialized medicine to obamacare would be a big step to the right, but going from essentially feral capitalism to market regulated Healthcare is a big step to the left. The US conservatives also have a huge head start, as the Cold War was a HUGE vehicle for right wing ideology. We literally had witch hunts for socialists, and our strongest liberal figures were assassinated. Our leftists aren't conservatives, but they are survivors.
Somehow other countries were able to make that step to the left. Canada had the same system as the USA but switched to our current one, sure it did take time.
And I don't even know who your leftists are, you all look pretty damn right wing from up here.
Push left. Vote left. Don't blame left, that's the propaganda machine trying to disenfranchise you. The mask is off now, it's clearer than ever that there's a right wing corruption in the pundit biz. People like Bari Weisse used to feign left beliefs but they are out and out propagandists now. The best thing that the right can do is attempt to sew dissent. Don't buy it.
Not just AIPAC. Israel's lobbying is much bigger than them. JStreet is just as bad. They just use softer language when advocating for Israeli Jewish Supremacy and genocide/ethnic cleansing.
I'm okay with the Jewish lobby if it focuses on U.S. domestic matters (jewish rights, heritage, religious freedom, etc in the US) and stays uninvolved regarding Israel. But the instant a pro-Israel policy proposal comes out of their lips, they're a foreign agent and should be strung up.
The only way to make me soften this position is for Israel to change their government, pass a new constitution enshrining human rights as central to their identity irrespective of religious or ethnic background, and prosecute every single Zionist responsible for supporting or perpetuating the genocide.
And the abolition of Israel itself, replaced by a multi-ethnic state that respects all religions, and has a multi-ethnic police force intended to tackle extremists on all sides.
Israel was a pointless creation in all due honesty, and ended up benefiting no one but those in power and those who benefited from having Israel as a boogeyman (Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran).
No. If the US has elections in November - and that is a serious if - people should vote for whoever is most likely to beat the Trump candidate. The US is on the precipice of authoritarianism and the first-past-the-post voting system means you _must_ vote strategically.
Bruh shut up. "We gotta beat trump" isn't a strategy. It's a wish list. The kiddie fuckers have been plotting for decades for a things to get like this since the southern strategy. It's well past time we do that for ourselves and future generations.
Best case scenario is that you have the next election to remove the Trumpists from power. That's it. You aren't going to have any more peaceful opportunities after that. I am not saying don't have a strategy or don't have an actual progressive roadmap. You need to have those, but they are useless if you do not stop the US from falling into white christo-fascist authoritarianism. First-past-the-post means that on election day you must vote for the most viable non-Trumpist candidate.
"We need to beat Trump" isn't a policy that helps people, it's just a strategy that holds back harm like a dam holds back a deluge. We lost the big elections where that was the strategy. Biden at least had other plans for economic and infrastructure policy. That's why he won.
Putting the brakes on when you're at the edge of a cliff is just a delaying tactic. You need to put it in reverse and drive away from the cliff.
Your analogy is flawed. America is not sitting at the edge of the cliff. America is hurtling toward it with the foot on the gas pedal. Right now you need to take the foot off the gas pedal and put it on the brake. I'm not saying don't have policies that help people. Trump can be beaten on policies that help people because he sure doesn't have any. But do not spurn imperfect but winnable policies thinking that you have more elections to try again.
Putting on the brakes is literally the most important thing to do if you are careening towards catastrophe. Simple slamming into reverse will just tear your transmission apart and leave you careening uncontrollable towards catastrophe.
Your analogy presumes that we have, at some point, stopped at the cliff face. We haven’t, we’re still barreling forward.
That would have been great advice back in 2000. There is no longer enough time to build a new party that can beat the Trumpists. If you want to have more elections to build a new 'left' party, you must first remove Trumpism.
Nah. The lesser-of-two-evils voting policy is exactly why we're in the mess we are. Both parties actively work to protect the status quo. The fearful tirades liberals have been spewing since dsa candidates started winning is proof of this. If liberals really were serious about standing out against trump 2.0, they'd be embracing leftist ideas as a means to differentiate themselves in the hardest manner possible.
Loser leftist rhetoric like this never produces wins. Just a safe space for white lefties while the opposition wins and takes more rights away from everyone.
It doesn't produce wins because cowards like you run from progress to the "safety" of what's known. And how's that working out for us? We live in a fascist police state. It's not Leftists that got us here, it's those "electable" Democrats who enabled Republicans.
I am a progressive and vote in my primaries. What I don’t do is sit at home on election night and whine like a little baby. I understand how our system works, you apparently don’t.
You mean like free college? Or LGTBQ+ rights? Or decarbonization? Or breaking up corporate monopolies? Or union support? Or ranked choice voting? Or any of the other dozens of things Biden worked on and Harris ran on and ya'll said "no, that's not what we mean when we say be progressive!" because you don't actually give a shit about progress just about pretending to be better than others while burning the world down?
No, I mean more funding for the surveillance state, and the erosion of our civil liberties. I mean bensing over backwards for corporate dollars and cum-gargling for the wealthy on demand. I mean waating every fucking opportunity they get handed to them to sock trump's policies in the nuts, while wringing their hands and doing jack shit.
When obama ran on populist policy and then didn't accomplish any of it with the 111th congress, the largest majority since 1977, what exactly did you think was stopping him? Don't look at what they say they are doing, look at what they accomplish.
The main thing he did accomplish (obamacare) didn't actually accomplish medical insurance reform, it just made insurance cheaper temporarily, and reinforced the worst possible avenue for obtaining medical insurance (from your employer) because of big bundle deals.
Obama did basically nothing to challenge the establishment, and utterly failed in his promise of "Change".
"Union support" except for when they threatened to decertify the railworker's union and fine them into oblivion. Harris ran on that stuff years ago and completely abandoned it for her '24 campaign. Biden wouldn't even push $15 minwage. Even now 6 House Dems provided the votes to pass Trump's NDAA, SAVE Act included. It wouldn't have passed without them! They got nothing for this support, therefore they genuinely want this thing to go, as-is. They don't represent their voters. Ever.
It's so funny seeing establishment defenders parrot talking points like we didn't live through watching them squander every majority we gave them time after time. If what they're saying is true, they'd be winning!

Yeah, hell no to this Vote Blue No Matter Who GARBAGE, that's why your crap ass party does nothing but capitulate to the right, they already got your vote.
FreePalestineAndTheWorldFromIsrael
Voting for a Zionist democrat just means you're voting for a fascist who supports the murder of innocent children. Just because they wave a rainbow flag doesn't hide from the fact they back murder and genocide, just makes them and their voters a hypocrite.
LilacShowers
okay but if it's between a fascist who supports the murder of innocent children and a much worse fascist who supports the murder of many more innocent children (and much more) i am still voting for the first one. with disgust and anger, sure, but no, i will not in fact help get even more children murdered just so i can sit atop my moral high ground and proudly proclaim that i had nothing to do with this because i entirely pawned the decision off on others
FreePalestineAndTheWorldFromIsrael
Voting for fascism is okay when it's a Democrat doing it. Understood.
LilacShowers
fascism is atrocious whoever does it, but voting for the least fascism is good whoever's doing the least fascism and even if that amount is still higher than zero. i would love to vote for zero fascism if that was an option and i would love to help make it an option, but until it is an option, i will in fact vote for less fascism over more fascism instead of letting others choose (since the choice between the two does get made one way or another) just so i can claim i didn't vote for fascism.
unluckyandbored
Read what I said again, and pay attention this time.
FreePalestineAndTheWorldFromIsrael
Yes, excusing Biden murdering children because he doesn't murder as much as Trump. And people wonder why USA is an absolute political clownshow.
wejustdontknow
Take it from an old Lefty like me. The current Dem party is not an opposition party. Is it a better option than Repuubs? Sure. Will anything change with either party in power? No, they are both wholly owned by corporations and Isreal. Dems play the role of the good party on TV while enabling where we are now. We have never had a truly Left party, and it's only going to get worse. Feel free to disagree, but I've watched this all play out for half a century.
ImJustHereAtThisPoint

Honestly how it feels. They’re essentially Republican lite.
Eyeetsass
It’s not even about left or right. The disconnect is a class war. They’re all fucking rich, and none of them gives a fuck about regular people.
Navrodel

SubtleOrc
the problem is the voters. they continue to vote in ultra right wing fascist leaning extremist parties like the sheep they all are
SubtleOrc
or they don't vote which is even worse
southflhitnrun
The Dems supported Civil Rights in the 60s and all their "supporters" jumped to Republicans.
They will never be that "ratical" again. They will talk a tough game, make some allocations for the working class....but they will never support anything that truly changes the system or "status quo."
ImmaCatImmaSexyCat
I'd say even the DSA is a mixed bag. They're an improvement but it seems like they backtrack on a lot of their major policies once they're in office. Even Mamdani has backtracked on a lot of his anti-imperial positions.
I won't say don't vote for them, of course. But make them accountable. If they aren't living up to their promises, make your voice heard and BE LOUD. Make them a real opposition party and be prepared to ditch them if they won't do that.
myth1250

Arbitrarynamehere
The irony of calling the left useful idiots when you're running defense for the most notorious status quo warriors in the Democratic establishment is genuinely sad
thedudeman519
Also, isn't it a term rotted in Russian propaganda?
thedudeman519
Rooted*
Kaze54
The only part I disagree with, is when you said nothing will change with either of them in power. Currently, Republicans are making changes for a soft coup. Because their first couple failed. And our Supreme leader will be much worse when he is the supreme leader.
ImmaCatImmaSexyCat
Democrats generally don't fix the problem. They just temporarily stop it from getting worse.
zFUBARz
You should really look at legislation history and voting records before saying stuff like that.
ImmaCatImmaSexyCat
No. He was a 4 year pause before things went back to fascism, but bigger than before.
zFUBARz
Right, so you don't actually pay attention then. Keep being reductive and we'll keep careening toward the end of civilization.
TacoPoweredHelicopter
And the democrats are doing shit all to stop it, and under Biden what exactly did they do to punish or stop the ringleaders of that first coup?
Complicit is a very apt description.
doctorId
American politics is just a national level case of good cop/bad cop.
SecondHandDeathWish
Democrats are the "good cop". Looks good in front of the camera but turns a blind eye when the "bad cops" do bad things.
A few bad apple ruin the bunch. The bunch is properly and entirely ruined at this point
Cookiesnm1lk
legit, "be the bigger person" "play by the rules even though our opponent isn't" THAT SHIT GOT US HERE TO BEGIN WITH!
Cookiesnm1lk
if i have to give trump one ONE credit, it's that i'd very much like to tell politicians who aren't representing the people to go fuck themselves, whiiiich is probably something that only he could get away with sadly. :(
ImmaCatImmaSexyCat
They're not even doing it right. Being the bigger person doesn't mean you stand down and let the bad guy keep doing bad shit. It means you don't sink to their level. You can still be VERY effective while not doing fascism.
TheDoctorCrankenstein
Yea but being an effective neoliberalist fundamentally enables fascism because it inherently supports and reinforces the capitalist Imperialist system which fascist leverage to gain power of authority.
ImmaCatImmaSexyCat
...I wish to kiss you.
prosper020
Maybe we will finally spawn a legitimate third party in this shithole. I’d love a democratic socialist party.
ImmaCatImmaSexyCat
In the US, that will only realistically happen if the Democratic party dies out. The electoral system makes people strategically vote for one of two. Without a drastic over-hall of how power is alloted and how elections are run, it will revert to a two-party state (that's really just one party).
I encourage you to try. Both major parties are a cancer. More parties are generally better.
SquashDemon
Just wanted to let you know it's over-haul.
I don't disagree with anything you said, but I'm sure you'd prefer to use the correct spelling in the future.
ImmaCatImmaSexyCat
I would. Thank you! Not sure why that was suggested by autocorrect.
SquashDemon
It happens, I just wanted to let you know in case you've only heard the phrase but never seen it spelled, which has also happened to me on occasion.
dirtcreature
We did.
CliffWestern
Your candidates keep losing and you keep seeing evidence that "far left" cuts into red territory in ways moderates will never be capable of. Not only will your candidates never yield victory, they will do absolutely nothing to combat right wing extremism once they are in power. And it's obvious why. The antidote for fascism is having healthcare. Affording groceries and a reasonable quality of life. It's the same observation Aristotle made about poverty and criminality.
ImmaCatImmaSexyCat
Right! Let's run another moderate! Kamala Harris 2028! It's her turn! /s
dirtcreature
Let's lose in 2028!
ImmaCatImmaSexyCat
Right. Because moderates do such a great job of winning. That's why Democrats keep winning and Republicans keep losing, right?
dirtcreature
Which moderates?
ImJustHereAtThisPoint
Other than FDR when has a DSA ran?
MakeItBackAlright
The truth is much more complicated. The Democrat establishment as a whole takes Corp money. That's not corruption, that's the system that a largely republican ruling class created. But you also can't NOT take that money, it's just as important in politics as anywhere else. That's lead to compromises and lesser of two evils choices. But painting the entire Democrat party as right wingers is NOT true. A democratic Supreme Court passed the VRA. A democratic congress built the reconstruction, the
CaptKirksNipples
The supreme court doesn’t pass legislation so I’m not really sure what you mean about the VRA
Badprenup
I think they meant that the Supreme Court struck down a bunch of legal challenges to different parts of the VRA in the first decade or so after it was enacted. Things that would have gutted the VRA.
AsheLake
"The Democrat establishment as a whole takes Corp money. That's not corruption, that's the system that a largely republican ruling class created."
This is absolutely corruption. It's gotten so pervasive that corruption is functionally a prerequisite for participation.
MakeItBackAlright
Correct. It's ethically corruption but legally it's not. The game is rigged but it's the only game in town. Again, thanks Republicans.
ArdentSlacker
That's all actually SEVERE corruption.
MakeItBackAlright
Legislation preventing segregation. Obamacare had REPUBLICAN concessions but it was the largest and most beneficial Healthcare bills in US history. It was supposed to be interim Legislation before a MORE socialist piece of legislation could be passed, but instead we got republican controlled government for a decade. There is a clear through line here and it's not "Dems are reps," it's that there is a gigantic, right wing propaganda machine undercutting left wing politics.
TacoPoweredHelicopter
And Obamacare is extremely right wing to the rest of the world.
Hell in Canada it would have not even flown for our right wing party for being to right wing..
Your democrats are right wing, your conservatives are right wing but also insane.
MakeItBackAlright
You gotta remember it's all relative. Going from socialized medicine to obamacare would be a big step to the right, but going from essentially feral capitalism to market regulated Healthcare is a big step to the left. The US conservatives also have a huge head start, as the Cold War was a HUGE vehicle for right wing ideology. We literally had witch hunts for socialists, and our strongest liberal figures were assassinated. Our leftists aren't conservatives, but they are survivors.
TacoPoweredHelicopter
Somehow other countries were able to make that step to the left. Canada had the same system as the USA but switched to our current one, sure it did take time.
And I don't even know who your leftists are, you all look pretty damn right wing from up here.
MakeItBackAlright
Push left. Don't buy it.
cheeriossuckbecause7
Straight up. Liberals cosplay as left-leaning, riiiiight up to where the aipac and corporate checks come in.
darthnerdus6236
The right is also labeling them as far left. It's almost more of a mass delusion than a cosplay.
ImmaCatImmaSexyCat
Not just AIPAC. Israel's lobbying is much bigger than them. JStreet is just as bad. They just use softer language when advocating for Israeli Jewish Supremacy and genocide/ethnic cleansing.
NKato
I'm okay with the Jewish lobby if it focuses on U.S. domestic matters (jewish rights, heritage, religious freedom, etc in the US) and stays uninvolved regarding Israel. But the instant a pro-Israel policy proposal comes out of their lips, they're a foreign agent and should be strung up.
NKato
The only way to make me soften this position is for Israel to change their government, pass a new constitution enshrining human rights as central to their identity irrespective of religious or ethnic background, and prosecute every single Zionist responsible for supporting or perpetuating the genocide.
And the abolition of Israel itself, replaced by a multi-ethnic state that respects all religions, and has a multi-ethnic police force intended to tackle extremists on all sides.
NKato
Israel was a pointless creation in all due honesty, and ended up benefiting no one but those in power and those who benefited from having Israel as a boogeyman (Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran).
The British dropped the goddamn ball here.
ImmaCatImmaSexyCat
There's a reason I said Israeli lobby.
NKato
Yep, and I'm buttressing your point because too many idiots can't tell the difference.
delpharseven
No. If the US has elections in November - and that is a serious if - people should vote for whoever is most likely to beat the Trump candidate. The US is on the precipice of authoritarianism and the first-past-the-post voting system means you _must_ vote strategically.
whyisthisusernamealwaystaken
Bruh shut up. "We gotta beat trump" isn't a strategy. It's a wish list. The kiddie fuckers have been plotting for decades for a things to get like this since the southern strategy. It's well past time we do that for ourselves and future generations.
delpharseven
Best case scenario is that you have the next election to remove the Trumpists from power. That's it. You aren't going to have any more peaceful opportunities after that. I am not saying don't have a strategy or don't have an actual progressive roadmap. You need to have those, but they are useless if you do not stop the US from falling into white christo-fascist authoritarianism. First-past-the-post means that on election day you must vote for the most viable non-Trumpist candidate.
theobstruction
"We need to beat Trump" isn't a policy that helps people, it's just a strategy that holds back harm like a dam holds back a deluge. We lost the big elections where that was the strategy. Biden at least had other plans for economic and infrastructure policy. That's why he won.
Putting the brakes on when you're at the edge of a cliff is just a delaying tactic. You need to put it in reverse and drive away from the cliff.
delpharseven
Your analogy is flawed. America is not sitting at the edge of the cliff. America is hurtling toward it with the foot on the gas pedal. Right now you need to take the foot off the gas pedal and put it on the brake. I'm not saying don't have policies that help people. Trump can be beaten on policies that help people because he sure doesn't have any. But do not spurn imperfect but winnable policies thinking that you have more elections to try again.
Dagordae
Putting on the brakes is literally the most important thing to do if you are careening towards catastrophe. Simple slamming into reverse will just tear your transmission apart and leave you careening uncontrollable towards catastrophe.
Your analogy presumes that we have, at some point, stopped at the cliff face. We haven’t, we’re still barreling forward.
jdarksun
Vote for the left most candidate in every election. That's it. That's all you need to do, you just need to do it forever.
delpharseven
That would have been great advice back in 2000. There is no longer enough time to build a new party that can beat the Trumpists. If you want to have more elections to build a new 'left' party, you must first remove Trumpism.
RatsLiveOnNoEvilStar
Well that and vote in every election you are eligible to.
AgainstMethod
Unless there's a Lefty spoiler third party candidate.
cheeriossuckbecause7
KingKrabvoldIV
Loser leftist rhetoric like this never produces wins. Just a safe space for white lefties while the opposition wins and takes more rights away from everyone.
theobstruction
It doesn't produce wins because cowards like you run from progress to the "safety" of what's known. And how's that working out for us? We live in a fascist police state. It's not Leftists that got us here, it's those "electable" Democrats who enabled Republicans.
KingKrabvoldIV
I am a progressive and vote in my primaries. What I don’t do is sit at home on election night and whine like a little baby. I understand how our system works, you apparently don’t.
Jarjarthejedi
You mean like free college? Or LGTBQ+ rights? Or decarbonization? Or breaking up corporate monopolies? Or union support? Or ranked choice voting? Or any of the other dozens of things Biden worked on and Harris ran on and ya'll said "no, that's not what we mean when we say be progressive!" because you don't actually give a shit about progress just about pretending to be better than others while burning the world down?
Bizarkly
So -- the Green Party platform, from back in the second millennium...
cheeriossuckbecause7
No, I mean more funding for the surveillance state, and the erosion of our civil liberties. I mean bensing over backwards for corporate dollars and cum-gargling for the wealthy on demand. I mean waating every fucking opportunity they get handed to them to sock trump's policies in the nuts, while wringing their hands and doing jack shit.
Temzilla
When obama ran on populist policy and then didn't accomplish any of it with the 111th congress, the largest majority since 1977, what exactly did you think was stopping him? Don't look at what they say they are doing, look at what they accomplish.
AgainstMethod
He accomplished a lot of important things; people just don't have the attention span to hear about them.
Temzilla
The main thing he did accomplish (obamacare) didn't actually accomplish medical insurance reform, it just made insurance cheaper temporarily, and reinforced the worst possible avenue for obtaining medical insurance (from your employer) because of big bundle deals.
Obama did basically nothing to challenge the establishment, and utterly failed in his promise of "Change".
Miller16of16
"Union support" except for when they threatened to decertify the railworker's union and fine them into oblivion. Ever.
Arbitrarynamehere
It's so funny seeing establishment defenders parrot talking points like we didn't live through watching them squander every majority we gave them time after time. If what they're saying is true, they'd be winning!
Miller16of16
On policy, the Dems would win every election.
