Haven't seen this in a minute
MaxAwesomeRex
Its a fun movie, enjoyed it, but by god dont start to analyze anything or start thinking too much, that will ruin the fun straight away
DeakVanNyke
hold on, are they returning fire to a sniper with shotguns ??
OoWah
This movie gave me a whole new fear involving chainsaws.
freezingpilot
A reasonable fear.
Travelcedric
Not picking on this post but it's amazing how desensitised we are to extreme violence. Mods shut down a bit of nudity which is natural and normal yet clips from an ultra violent movie aren't even looked at. This world is fucked up.
vericon151
Very fun movie!
Macetheace50
The second movie wasn't as nearly as good as first movie.
TrueLegateDamar
I was so hyped for this movie with all the slow build-up for what looked to be the craziest mass shootout ever, that the execution felt like a big letdown especially when it then tried to be a serious crime drama with the twist reveal.
velcrosnake
My brain couldn't help seeing some of that action scene and thinking, "Yeah, but that doesn't make sense..." Not all of it, just some things here and there, like the dude standing in the window shooting a shotgun across the vast distance at an unknown sniper position, or the other guy shooting blindly in the vague direction of the window as if that was going to deter the sniper.
relsky
Suspension of disbelief gets me through a lot of bullshit in movies.
VoidedResurrection
If you watch closely Ryan Reynolds even throws his gun at the source of shots when he was empty.
I saw that scene was the directors way of showing the desperation and futility the cops felt against an unseen enemy that was mowing them and their friends down.
Not hard to believe them just shooting back in the direction they thought shots were coming from knowing chances of hitting anything was slim to none.

It's made out of poeple!

Ṣiva H. Viṣṇu, that sounds like some Duke Nukem 3D background music
Myoron
Did that bullet just roar like a lion?
SmergBlaerghl
I remember watching it at the time. Also, Alicia Keys is gorgeous.
Iblamemyparentstoo
When Common is carrying her down the stairs and says "Damn girl you're gonna make a n**** fall hard"....woof!
Syko73
One of my favorite scenes
southflhitnrun
Most of favorite actors. Never saw this film. I know what I'll be watching this weekend.
bumblebeerumble
Love this movie. Was really surprised at Jeremy Piven’s performance in this.
UnattendedDeviant
I thought he played a great "stoned out his mind" guy.
MagnumRadhard
Hmmm. Just realized I get this movie confused with Lucky Number Slevin.
weidermeijer
Also an excellent movie.
MagnumRadhard
Yessir. Both were tons o' fun for sure. Just forgot Reynolds was in Aces, as well

This was one of Chris Pine's earliest movies, and when Affleck saw him in a scene he reportedly said that he'd bet half of all the money he'd ever make in Hollywood that Pine would be a star.
Taxian
Been a while since I've seen it, but I remember it being some hyperviolent popcorn chomping fun to watch.
jammer909
The editing really hurt this movie. They cut bits that would have made it make more sense. What should have been clever was edited down to just hyperviolence. That ending with Ryan Reynolds and the two hospital beds was absolutely amazing though.
HandoB4Javert
Still a better love story than Twilight.
IMakeLotsOfReferencesAndRemakes
With a really good twist... Not good enough to turn the movie into a masterpiece but still damn good.
RacecarIsRacecarBackwards
It got really bad ratings but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Iblamemyparentstoo
Hell yeah, one of the best movie ever
MechKelly
I remember the ads for this coming on during every commercial break for weeks. And they annoyed me so much that I never wanted to see the movie.
FTUG
The part where those 3 psychotic brothers pull up on in their car the other team while they are formulating their plan to get into the place and then just murder them made me laugh so hard. https://youtu.be/SbamLjdUt7Q?is=GDIEu-l0hMvDKDSf
allnewuserforyou
"Oh hey, this movie has Ben Affleck in it!" ...for like 2 scenes, then gets got by the psycho brothers. Love it.
FortifiedWhine
Errrrr... it shouldn't have...
eronth
Are you sure about that?
allnewuserforyou
If that scene doesn't make you smile, you probably wouldn't enjoy the movie.
Morkath
The mad max looking brothers getting out of the elevators without getting shot still feels really weird every time I see it. Especially the guy dual wielding a shotgun and chainsaw, you're staring at the elevator with guns already drawn and pointed, why aren't you shooting?!
DamnYourePretty
When youre expecting guys to come out in tactical gear, guns blazing your brain can lock up when you dont get it. Yes, those guys had the drop but a lack of discipline and more importantly, experience, let the Weird Dudes take the momentum of the fight. There are anecdotes from Iraq and Afghanistan of throwing a rubber duck or chicken into a a room instead of or preceding an actual flashbang to confuse and lure less hardened targets out of cover or to gain that precious second of momentum.
CNChapeL
And that girl walking out of the elevator barely injured after being in a point black firefight.
RocketKokket
Gotta love this era of cinematography where they were like the camera goes EVERYWHERE! It’s silly and fun
Vagabondio
Common is a really good actor

It really tried a bit too hard to be in the vein of Lock, Stock... and Snatch but didn't quite get there. Was watchable enough though. Less said about the sequel the better however.
Caughtintheconcentricelipsesofchaosanditsinnatemadness
The director, Joe Carnahan, also directed "Narc" which I liked more. But he did write "Pride and Glory" which was really good.

(Not mentioned, but relevant: My partner was the one who just violently smoked seven of your fellow FBI agents with a .50 caliber rifle.)
Syko73
Well if you wanna get all technical...
l8rrose
Man, I love this movie. It was just so freaking bonkers but in a good way.
The sequel was pretty bad.
Quizz25S
Lol at cops shooting at a skyscraper with handguns.
2Soon4Baboon
Most realistic part of the movie
PepperoniAndFingernailPizza
I mean, if you were the best shot in the world, knew how much the bullet would drop, knew the direction and speed of the wind, and could actually see the person in the window they'd have like a 0.025301% chance of hitting em. Not great odds, but hey, there is still a chance 😂
Quizz25S
Better odds of hitting something-ANYTHING you DON'T want to hit
PepperoniAndFingernailPizza
Amen
astralfields
There's not enough windmills around so I guess they had to make do.
jamesbondq
Also, I'm sure the filmmaker is actually counting rounds for everybody, but this is the first time I've watched a movie and thought "maybe they're reloading too much."
villlllle
I liked the shotgun best!
Illinifan88
Seems realistic to me.
hotrodny
I always lol at soldiers and/or police shooting at aliens in movies. Seriously, they have crossed the galaxy to get here, and the bazooka and the first 100 rounds didn't work. So why do they continue shooting? And with 5.56 no less??
Quizz25S
No no no they aren’t invulnerable, they just have health bars. Gotta whittle them down.
hotrodny
Maybe the aliens die of boredom? Or they laugh themselves to death
RooGryphon
they nailed it on the realism
bananabonanza3
Came here to say that lmao. Just… why? You’re cops, call it in and have them raid the building, stay under cover. The likelihood they get the sniper in return fire is negligible, the likelihood of civilian casualties, EXTREMELY high
RooGryphon
why would the cops be there anyway.... oh right, theres no kids so they want to play marine
komradekristoph
Doesn't make sense I agree but filled with adrenaline in a fire fight, I think instinct takes over and you just go all out.
UnattendedDeviant
Exactly. Ryan Reynolds character even throws his gun in direction shots coming from when empty. My thoughts was it was director showing the desperation and futility cops were feeling. When that's all you got, you're gonna shoot back in that direction even knowing chances of hitting anything is slim to none.
Quizz25S
I respectfully disagree. Cops, and really anybody who goes through firearm training knows not to shoot if it's possible you might hit an innocent bystander. Shooting wildly at the side of a glass building is insane. Just look at the Las Vegas massacre in 2017. None of the cops were shooting back at the hotel, that was never even an option considering the risk of collateral damage. But this is just a movie after all so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ sure is fun!
komradekristoph
Again, that makes total sense...until someone is in that situation though they'll never know how they'll react regardless of what training exists. I guess the directors intent was for them to panic and return fire.
We're chaotic creatures, the primitive mind can make us do odd things especially under the flight or fight response.
