*shrug* Depends on how long they run the simulation, I’d think. I’d be shocked if it stayed in a stable orbit. At the very least I’d expect it to collapse into a roughly spherical shape under its own gravity. I was assuming the fact of it being tidally locked just meant that was an initial condition of the simulation.
I could be wrong about this, of course. I’m just saying, when they say “actual simulation,” I hear “with physics,” not just a rendering of a pre-determined path.

Watching the full video, it appears the "actual simulation" is a bit of a misnomer. There's no indication this shows anything but what a big ass banana would look like in the sky from a distance equal to that of the international space station.

It's clearly fake. Earth has never been to the banana. Those shots were made in someone's garage. Everyone knows there's a reflective part on bananas and that's the so called mirror.

Depends on how long it is orbiting and what mass distribution the banana has. If everything is banana, it reduces to a simple geometric problem.

Particularly if you rotated the banana 180 degrees along its Z-axis so that the curvature allowed it to stay roughly the same distance from the surface at more points. You'd end up like that water planet from "Interstellar"
