Worth noting that the age of consent is 18 in the US but is lower in many other places. There is very clearly a downward limit on sexual maturity, the fact that most websites are also based in the US means 18 is the "default" on the internet but what makes it the morally acceptable number? Is it wrong that it's lower elsewhere? Is 18 even too low?

In Europe, the age of consent is between 14-16, which as a European I consider OK. The magic is not in some arbitrary boundary where you can't be looked at when 17,99 and can do porn from 18, but rather in legislation focused on the power dynamics of the relationship. 15 & 17 having the sex? Perfectly OK. A 17 schoolgirl and 23 y.o. substitute teacher? Noooope! 16 y.o. aspiring actress and 55 y.o. billionaire producer? Fuck no!

One of the architects of the southern strategy literally wrote how to find ways to refer to black people as slur without saying the actual slur, with "urban" being the primary example.
