#21 $51.4B is now 20th richest American. 30th in world
ricpaul
What I also get from your comment is that 20 of the wealthiest persons in the world live in a country with ~350,000,000 people. The remaining 10 live among the 7,700,000,000 remaining people. So the amount of people having >50B in the USA is 40x higher than the rest of the world per capita...

#7 - someone doesn't know the myth of Persephone: she was abducted by Hades, her uncle, forced to stay in the underworld 3 months of 12.
Mostlydeadpool
an interesting take on the myth: Her mother didn't like hades and didn't want them together. The whole kidnapped thing was a cover/lie told by apollo and hades and Persephone to force it on her mom (who was the goddess of agriculture). Persephone was totally cool with everything and very happy with the arrangement.
daguq
Oh really? Source?
Mostlydeadpool
Actually it's from the Jim butcher series Dresden Files. At one point he's talking to Hades and hades gives what really happened. it's in the book Skin Game.
daguq
So, nothing to do with Greek mythology?
Mostlydeadpool
academically, no. but it is a pretty rich urban fantasy series that addresses many types of metaphysical concepts from different angles. I mean, it's a myth. it's a story. from 2000 years ago. so it's not like there's a canon version of events.

#14 What's funny is that, based on clear patterns, a dude wearing clothing calling for violence against pedophiles probably is your local pedophile. Projection. I mean, most of us feel that bad things should happen to pedos, but we don't feel the need to run around in shirts declaring it.

This is actually a dog whistle in red hat territories calling for violence against gays. Same treatment as your local Nazi is the best option

Side note: I love the hidden graphic design in the negative space of the FedEx logo. It's the butter knife in the "e". Because your delivery will go as smooth as butter. Clever advertising.

I think that's just how lowercase e looks. You're looking for the capital E and lowercase x, with the arrow.

#21 Even among fictional characters I'm pretty sure there are richer people, such as Scrooge McDuck, who they had to invent a word for the number his wealth rises to. And Scrooge has business rivals who are in the same ballpark and potentially earn more than him.

My understanding of the mechanics of cocaine's effects, plus some second hand knowledge, make me think it was more likely meth that kept her up for 6 hours. Let's get a pro to weigh in. @deafkitten, can someone get high for 6 hours on a "pill" of crack?
Roune
Not crack. Even if they tested the person at the hospital it wouldn’t come back as crack it would show as cocaine. I guess if you didn’t look at it very closely you might mistake a crack rock for a pill but only if you’re dumb as shit. The only thing I can think of would be if they put whatever drug in an empty pill capsule or something like that and if that’s the case it would probably be meth like others have said
LuLuPennyAndOdium44
There's no way a cocaine high of any kind is lasting 6 hours, un-sustained. One hit will not last 6 hours.
deafkitten
Na ha.
BranDohCalrissian
Crack has to be smoked to be effective. That's like the whole point.
recursionist
No, it had to be meth. Source: self
Kiotetravels
Cocaine has a very limited absorption rate through the digestive tract. It's far more likely to be meth. There are many places where meth is called crack even though that makes no fucking sense (looking at you Missouri rednecks) much the same way people will sometimes call cannabis dope even though dope is heroin.
Butterupmybuttcheeks
Weed was called dope back in the 60's, it referring to heroin is actually a newer development.
recursionist
You’re right about the first part but not the heroin part... Opium was first called dope in the 1880s, then heroin when it was developed, and then other drugs after that for some reason I’m not aware of or didn’t research. I know it probably isn’t intentional but please do your research before spreading misinformation, thank you.
Kiotetravels
Someone has clearly never read junky by William s Burroughs... door was the street name for heroin way before weed was ever called that
recursionist
The word “dope” originates from the Dutch word doop, meaning “thick sauce” or “gravy,” entering American English in the early 19th century to describe any viscous liquid or paste. Opium (syrupy) was the first thing called dope in the 1880s then heroin was synthesized years later and it was called that too. Eventually people started using it for most drugs and I don’t quite know why. That’s about all I know on Dope.
